Me and hubby and our dog lived in our van the whole winter. Just was grateful to have any type of roof over our heads to protect us from the elements while we went through the storm. We are in our own home now thank GOD...
Enjoyed this video. It is nice to be able to see what a day in the life of a nomads is. I am 67. Retired last year. Temporarily living in a travel trailer. Went from 4 BR/2.5 BA 2400 square foot house. To a converted 2car garage apartment and now a travel trailer. One thing is for sure, once you get over the hurdle of being sentimentally attached to"things", it is such a mental relief to declutter. Only having what we need frees us up to enjoy nature and life itself. Take care

The one thing I notice with your videos that other van dwellers that I watch almost never do is record themselves actually living in their vans.....getting ready for bed, taking showers, cooking..... I love it because I want to see how people actually live because I'm considering doing van dwelling part time. It's gives me a realistic view of what van dwelling looks like.

I just found your channel and subscribed. I marvel at your ability to make a life for yourself living in a van while working at a brick and mortar place. Most van dwellers work remotely and travel around the country. You have goals and work to achieve them. You use creativity in your meals. You keep yourself on a schedule. You are about your business. As someone who is contemplating this move, I just want to say thank you and please keep making these videos. I’ve watched tons of similar videos and am tired of seeing their “nature scenes”. The hardest part is finding a safe place to sleep. I park in church lots, hospital or motels. They have big parking lots and I get under the lights. It’s not bad when you get used to it

I agree. Her videos are addictive. It's almost like being out on the road with her. She does a very professional job with the cameras, as well, including the angles. I also am tired of other people just showing nature videos. We can get those anytime on Google. They don't really show van life, like hers do.

Thats not true, where does she keep her car. The online van lifers are all the same, just for entertainment. I live in a van, I'm a van lifer as well. But also I own over 24 houses, and don't have to at all. It's all just hype.

Hey Lady! Love the 2023! I live in my 2018. With he gnats, Do you have screens? If so, you can do as I did and order a finer / gnat screen and replaced the original screening (I could see the little devils crawl thru). If you don’t have screens, I would suggest hitting up a screen door shop to see what they can do for you. Glad to find you channel. Have fun and be safe!
Next time use a black shower curtain, Fold it in half. Use it for that window with velcro, Then you can use that as a temp fix to block out the sun and have privacy too.
Spray insect repellent used for humans outdoors camping (not insect killer) on the outside screen with window closed. Also, spray around window casing & around main access door. Open it later. Then, spray screen on inside w/ window open. Leave vehicle for 30 min. to let it air out. You should be bug free for a few days. Spray once a week if living in there daily. After a decent rain you will need to reapply when screen is dry.

I have been tiny house/van life obsessed for the past few years. I love the simplicity and freedom being that I'm single, no kids. I haven't pulled the trigger because I do have an 80year old mother that I need to sick close to. So I'll just stack my coins until the day I can make it happen!

Mix up a solutuon of a few drops of dish washing liquid and water in a spray bottle, and use that to spray bugs...works great and way less toxic for you, plus very cheap. Those bug sprays are very bad for you. Sorry you're going through this. Big hugs!!! 🍃🤗🍃

Note: to avoid ants getting in your camper, make sure your power extension cord (or any other things that lead into the camper) are not on the ground. It's an ant highway! I use a short plant hanger pole to discourage that bad ant behavior. Also watch out in the late spring and early summer for wasps making their homes in convenient (to them) spots.
Bummer about the bugs. Lesson learned. I love your realistic and honest videos. Your self discipline regarding IF is incredible. It is too easy to just go through a drive-thru on your way to park for the night.
1. Meals thrown together with leftovers are often the best. I’ve got a client who hates leftovers, and throws them away, much to the chagrin of his husband. I have no shame in admitting I told him to save them for me so I can either eat them as is, or make something delicious with them. DON’T WASTE FOOD! 2. I love, love, LOOOOOVE how you love your food. Perhaps you can still use the window cover. If you think you wouldn’t mind Velcro or small hooks. The Command strip product line has lots of options plus they are all removable if you don’t like them. There’s a way if you really want to cover your window

Seems like the window to let night air in should have a screen on the inside and then the window opens outward. It's such a nice van but I guess that was a design error on their part.
I am a complete RV person and I have a gorgeous travel trailer, I lived for 24 years and my big truck. I saved a lot of money and made sacrifices, good for you and don't stop.
It happens in tiny house life too. Today a mouse ran across the floor. Also I’m dealing with big really fast ants and earwigs too. What a bummer you can’t sleep with fresh air from the ope window. Neither can I. Sigh... How you are managing is tenacious and admirable. I hope my comment helps you feel not so alone with the pest situation.

Keep everything closed you can spray on the outside in the morning a bug repellent on your windows keep everything open regarding the smell, after awhile it’s helps in wooded areas or you can buy it looks like a car freshener at Home Depot or lowes but it’s a bug repellent instead you hang it in your homestead 🏡 to keep critters away!! Be Safe
Look up Explorer outfitter window covers. They are amazing They make them for promasters front windshield, doors, back windows and sliding door window. However, they are magnetic as well. I would look at maybe a velcro system
I'm so sorry that you're going through this! Put a small exhaust fan in the window, blowing out to increase your air flow. The nats can't fly against the outgoing airstream.
There are screens you can buy for car doors so I'm sure there is something for your van. Also for my home, I have been using this little night light like plug in thing that I got at Home Depot for about 14.99. It has been great for knats. I don't like to spray chemicals for every little thing so. I think it's called Safer Home and probably an off brand but about 5.00 cheaper than some named brand one I have seen advertised.

We can buy a surface bug spray made from marigolds that is safe for household use. I spray all surfaces in my van and it lasts for about 6 months. Bugs fly in and immediately fly out again. Satisfying seeing them scoot out again.
That's the hard thing to deal with in the summer months, the other option is to turn on your air conditioning. But that's a whole nother issue because they're loud and use a lot of power. I still use a long stand up fan to blow on me at night, the sound of the fan helps me to sleep better and relax. But when it's no choice because it's so hot outside I have to run my air conditioning.
I have a 30 ft Heartland pioneer that I pulled behind my 4x4. I'm starting to think about getting a motorhome so I don't have to deal with the combination vehicle. But when I park and set everything up it is nice to be able to leave and run around with my 4x4.

Velcro some screens in the open windows. I’ve also sprayed my screens with Skin So Soft, keeps all the bugs and skeeters away.

Look for fruit fly traps at a store or Amazon. We use those in our house. Attracts them to it and they get trapped in it and die. Works great.
You should also try a magnetic screen so you can keep your door open for a great breeze and or air out your van....❤

Hopefully you get the window fixed because you should be able to air out your van every once in awhile you can become very cooped up sometimes

I have a 30 ft Heartland pioneer that I pulled behind my 4x4. I'm starting to think about getting a motorhome so I don't have to deal with the combination vehicle. But when I park and set everything up it is nice to be able to leave and run around with my 4x4.
