I have always believed in "follow your gut". Years ago I was at a seasonal camp ground.. for over a month. There were always at least a few people around... and I felt fine. However, near the end of the season I noted there were less & less people. One day, for no (apparent) reason, I felt a strong sense of Panic. It seemed so... silly, and yet.. There it was. So I packed up fast and drove away. To this day I have NO IDEA where that feeling even came from... snd I never had it again. It was just plain eerie. I just KNEW I had to get out of there. Always better to be safe than sorry.

God gives you that feeling. I think he especially gives it to women. Because we are not as strong physically as men. It’s like an extra sense to help us. Kinda how deers can sense danger.

I've done a fair amount of traveling and stayed at many rest stops, Walmart parking lots and other places. I'm not a vanlifer but sleeping in my vehicle is so much cheaper than a motel. Three years ago I had a tiny house built on wheels and it took me several months and many state visits to find a place to park it. I'm retired and wanted peace and solitude. The area I chose is a seasonal lake community where I spend the winter completely alone. I do have a neighbor fairly close who checks on me but I like the quiet. After raising 5 children on my own I wanted my distance but I'm still very much in touch with everyone and within driving distance.
I am a new subscriber and so far I'm enjoying your content. Yours is not the only channel I watch. Enjoy your travels.

Glad to see that you are being very proactive about your vehicle's & yourself. I am so OCD about of those kinds of things. But taking the time to be organized has saved me time & again. My husband was a pilot & flew Search & Rescue Chinook helicopters during the Vietnam War. He instilled organization & planning into our children's lives & that worked well for me too. I am throughly enjoying your channel, taking some pointers from your cooking & asking my daughter for some pointers, she is 45 & has been a vegetarian since the age of 9. Good to know that I am still open to possibilities at 74.
I am so glad that you.listened to your gut. What an important lesson to us all.

A tip that might help with cleanup after frying? Splatter screens. You can get a set on Amazon for about 10 dollars that have little foldable handles on top, that when you put them up, don't get too hot. Those have saved me so much grease cleanup! The museum was really kewl..

Hello from New Zealand 👋😁 I've just started watching your journey 🦋
I lived in my car a couple of years ago and learnt to always trust my gut.. I always used to park up in secluded places untill one night when I'd just got to my quiet spot that a lady told me about.. I was still sitting in the driver's seat and I remember thinking I must let my eyes adjust so I could be aware of my surroundings. I remember looking in my rear view mirror so I could make out the country road behind me .. next minute my heart fricken dropped. I could see the shape of someone standing behind my car. I actually nearly shat myself lol. I started that car so fast and threw it in reverse and floored it.. I saw him take off running. I drove like a maniac to get outa there. After that I always backed into spaces. Lesson learned.
I look forward to following you 🦋

I've been living in my little rv for 3 years now and as a introverted person I prefer isolated spot even at night. The most dangerous situations come from humans so I think alone and far from people is better. But the most important thing is feeling safe and it's not the same for everyone. Go ahead girl you are doing well 💖

Another good one! I am 77 and often make long trips across country by myself, hubby of half a century, doesn’t like to go as much so I kiss him bye & say when you see the whites of my eyes you’ll know I’m home! He knows I need space to refresh my spirit and is all good with it. I have a van, not a nice camper home like yours, but have created my own little sanctuary with a power station, some 12 volt appliances, propane burner cooktop, battery fans, comfy bed I made by removing a middle seat and a potty. Fun adventures on the go! I am with you, follow your gut always, I know I have likely spooked myself unnecessarily but I rest better once I move. I have often stayed across from 24 hr convenience stores, easy to get someone’s attention if needed. Church parking lots, but those are more desolate like the museum. Once I stayed in a police station parking lot, small town, I went in and told them I was alone & simply got too tired to continue safely, they were very gracious and said they were glad I stopped! Motel parking lots, as previously mentioned, at the larger nice mid price ones I have even gone in the lobby, from a side door, to use the rest room, said hi to the people at the desk as I passed & purchased from vending machines, no one has ever questioned my presence. To me the key is being near people so can can attract attention if needed. Have an alarm that will make so much noise it can’t be ignored and one protection item I rarely hear mentioned, bear spray!! If it will stop a bear it will stop a human or two! Thanks for sharing things you have learned. I throughly enjoy your peaceful videos and always look forward to them. Blessings

Its always good to follow your gut feeling. Another woman living in her van (Story Chasing) talked about places to boondock and one place that I found pretty interesting was to park in a motel parking lot! Seems like good advice since there are usually always people around, the parking lots are usually well lit and lots of motels are right off the highway, so no need to go out of your way. The only thing she said to watch out for was whether the motel had parking tags for its guest--which you can see when you drive through the lot and look at the cars. But in reality, I don't think most mid-priced motels use parking stickers.

    • @nobodyuknow6585
      @nobodyuknow6585 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

I would not advise a hotel parking lot. I used to work at one and we monitored the parking lots with cameras, had a security guard and a maintenance man that would walk the grounds. Not all of them are like that I am sure, but we kept a close eye on the people that were supposed to be there and each of the office staff would go over their shift with the next person that would come on duty, so we were very aware of what all went on there. If you were not supposed to be there, we got you off the property either by asking or by calling the law in. It made us no difference how you left, as long as you did. So, that may not be a pleasant experience for you, if you stay at a hotel like we were.

LOVE your TH-cam. I have never had an RV or Sprinter van etc but I have slept in my car on many a cross country road trip> you give GREAT advice on the parking position so you can get out, and yeah we are looking out for fam! Glad you took our advice on the not blocking your way to the driver seat. I am curious, did the website for the museum say they allow overnight parking or this was a tip you found online? I find it rare for museums to encourage overnight parking. I have had to do the same thing you did, LEAVE when my spidey sense said things were strange. I dont care who your are, man, woman, non binary person or Wonder Woman, being isolated in a parking lot is NEVER safe. Youre making great choices and your cooking is always on point! BLESS!

Few things we did to make my GF feel safer. 1. Placed window alarms (google battery-powered window alarms) on each door. we turn these on each night. They are so loud that everyone will hear them within a city block. 2. Simple hook latch down low on the interior of the doors (similar to the back door), even if something pops the door lock. No way they can break the chain hook we installed. 3. Taser Pulse (need I say more)

Glad that you are ok, might I suggest that, before bed you have a couple of places that you can go if needed, so that you don't waste time searching. Loving your journey.

I love how it has that foot handle so you don't have to touch the door; even before the pandemic I had a thing about door ha does especially at an apartment where four people shared one entry to their perspective apartment.

Look at you cooking with a wooden spoon 😄. I’m so enjoying watching you create your meals. I’ve been plant-based a few years myself and also started my journey watching other TH-camrs. I found it so amazing all the creative ways I could make delicious meals from only plants! Stay safe and continue to trust your instincts ✌️

I totally agree ! Even though I don't like too many people around, but parking at the place that absolutely no one else around but yourself alone like that to me that's not a good feeling. I like to park where at least some cars, rvs, trucks around here and there in the parking lot is much better !!!
