Thanks so much for making this video. I was looking for the best way to cut my long, naturally wavy hair, and you provided it for me. Really quick and easy way to get the result I want. Awesome!
Please can you try the BEARD CUT. You divide your hair into pigtails but don't tie them, just bring all the hair under your chin and tie with one bobble. That way your hair will be evenly cut and a u-shape at the back. I have similar hair to yours and so would love you to try this beard cut. Thank you! x
@@wavygirljessie ... I can't wait. How it looks on you and whether you like it depends on whether I try it or not! Lol! I bet you feel like a guinea pig at times, don't you?Lol! x
I've done the unicorn but I have to be careful because I do have low density hair, so it will look very thin on the ends if I have too many layers. Definitely going to give this a try!
First of all, you have gorgeous hair. I know it's hard to always be "on" with curls but you rock them. Second, you did an awesome job of explaining who should use which technique.
I have low-density hair that has ranged from 1b to 3a depending on how short it is, how old I am, and probably some weird alien effect none of us can begin to imagine. Earlier today it was about mid-back length and 2a-1c. I was tired of wearing skinny ponytails or long braids. After many videos, yours was the one that finally gave me the courage to take the plunge. My first attempt was the 2 pigtail following your video exactly. I ended up with hair that was about 3-4 inches shorter but there weren't any layers. Maybe I cut them out in the last step? I ran some errands and thought I'd fix it another day but said what the heck. I did 2 unicorn cuts. The first one was a bit too far back and the second much better. Somehow my hair ended up about 2 inches shorter but that's ok. The "face framing pieces" are too short for my taste so they'll have to painfully grow out again. But a very quick dry with no product did bump it up to a messy 2b!! Yeah! Thank you so much!!
@@diane1564 aw thank you so much!! And wow you're so brave!! I wonder if I'll ever take the plunge and go short, but more importantly if I'll have the nerve to do it myself 😂 I imagine with cutting such a large amount of length off it perhaps would have been better to cut the length first, then add layers, although I'm no professional 😂 but it sounds like you figured it out! 😍 I've recently tweaked the pigtail cut slightly and now instead of brushing straight out from my head I brush more so at an angle going upwards, I think this adds slightly more layers 👌🏻
I’ve just done this! What a relief I feel! I’ve needed a haircut for at least a month and it was really getting me down. I couldn’t find my scissors so used a razor blade. 😂 it was now or never ❤
Beautiful results!!! Your hair looks so healthy and shiny. I did follow the Manes by Melle modified unicorn that she did for her “Seester”. Months later I tried the pigtails and was really hoping to those layers on the diagonal... Not sure how I messed that up, but yeah, not good at all. Just a really odd shape.
Omg I am so sorry for only just seeing this comment! I have parted down the middle before, both on myself and on my husband's curly hair. Because I usually part to the side though, sometimes I've parted slightly offcentre
@@wavygirljessie, hi! What happens if you don’t cut the perimeter at the end separately? Does the pigtail cut alone leave the perimeter looking choppy?
If I want more layers with the pig tail cut do I keep the pigtails right behind the ear and just either go 45 degrees or straight up or do I have to change the pigtail location?
So is the pigtails part of the cut only to get some layers? I'm just looking to cut off a couple inches of dead ends, but I prefer to have it all one length. Should I skip the pigtails step and just keep my body straight so I don't cut a V into the back, or is there another purpose for cutting with the pigtails?
Yes, the pigtail part is for layers although the layers are very subtle so you almost can't tell 😂 but yeah, perhaps just go straight to the step of cutting the length into either a v or a u 🥰
@@wavygirljessie thank you for your reply! I might just try to give it a trim first and see how successfully that goes in the first place. Lmao I've never cut my own hair so it will be interesting. Can I ask, if that all goes fine would it make a difference if I do the pigtails as a step two? I might not mind longer/subtle layers, I just don't trust myself too much. But does the order matter? I appreciate all your help 🌞
@@Waterk11 you're welcome! I was terrified when I first cut my hair myself 😂 I don't think it would make a difference doing it the other way round 🤔 if you're a bit hesitant then I definitely recommend just cutting off the smallest amount and then checking or getting someone else to check how it looks and then cutting more if you need or leaving it as is ☺️
I LOVE how it turned out! Honestly, I love both the pigtail cut and the unicorn cut, they're different and both look amazing on you. I'm pretty sure I'll try one of these someday, but I'm trying to grow my hair and see how long can I go without cutting it. xD
Thank you! I wish I could leave mine but I get split ends really easily 🤣 I think it's a fine hair problem. How long have you gone so far without cutting it?
@@wavygirljessie Last time was December, but I had to chop off a weird piece at the back a couple of months ago. Still, I used to get split ends all the time before I started taking care of my hair. I'm really happy!
Interesting that you kept a sidepart while cutting it! I always split my hair in the middle while cutting it but I'm always wearing a sidepart. Have you noticed a difference in your layers when you're cutting them with your usual part?
I tried to middle part it when cutting as all videos state and it ruined my hair, wish videos would tell us to part it how we wear it as I've made that mistake twice. Looks even when middle parting yet parting it normal which for me is the side when dry, it's so unbalanced ! Maybe I should try doing it with my side part once this mess has grown out :/
Thank you!! Last night I actually filmed a video talking about the DIY haircuts I've done so far, I'm not entirely sure yet when I'll be posting that video 😂 but I think with my current hair length this is my favourite. I've also done it on my husbands short curly hair and had success too 😊
Love it. I tried the unicorn and liked it. And a few months later I tried a DIY dry curl cut just snipping by curl clump and liked it even more. My hair does go into 3a territory sometimes but is mostly 2b-c
I tried a DIY curl by curl cut once too but only cut off the smallest amount, I don't think I'm very experienced to do that on myself though, I might mess up 🤣
