This is a great way to cut LONG curly and wavy hair. I don't recommend this as much for short curly hair. My own personal guide to cut curly hair without ruining it!

OMG I really needed this! I've spent $300+ on ONE deva cut and it was literally the WORST haircut I ever got. Because of that I got it cut at a different kind of curly hair salon and I still wasn't happy with how it was cut. You def re-inspired me to cut it myself again ❤️.
Girrlll are we the same person… i spent over 300$ on a dry cut. I asked for long layers and a trim, not only did i not get layers but the stylist completely botched it. I can never trust a hairdresser again hence why im here :,)

I agree, it always turns out best when I cut my own hair. It's fun, I love cutting my hair. It grows fast thankfully.
Check out the Feye method! Its from a live journal from a few years back. You learn a V, U, and straight across is the 3rd I think. But it was easy to follow, and combined with a unicorn gave me great results.

I cut my hair and my mums mad even though I think it looks good but she doesn't 😂 idk why she's talking about my hair, hers is ✨interesting✨ Anyway I did the unicorn cut and I think it worked really well and I'm going to cut it again soon but short.
I would not recommend the "unicorn cut" for hair shorter than bra strap, unless you want to look like an 80s rocker dude. It is a cut *first mentioned* in the book, "Haircutting for dummies" but the internet just ran away with it, no sources mentioned. Anyway, stepping off my soapbox here. LOL I love that cut but my hair is classic length (over the booty). It is an amazing cut for textured longer hair. But shorter? Either go slowly or go to a stylist, and try and copy what they do at home.

@@rebekahmcc23 I'm 49 and just happy with my long hair, have been for a number of years, but you do you, you only live once! :D And hair is... hair; it grows back. I definitely had my share of shaved heads in my 20s. ;)

4:12 thank you SO MUCH for this disclaimer. I am mostly 3a3b but I have some 3c in my hair. The difference between the curl patterns are very noticeable. Thanks
What if I section it? I feel like by doing it while wet I can smooth my hair and make sure I am not leaving loose strands that won’t be the same length. Does that make sense? I feel like if I cut it while dry, I will have some flyaways that won’t be cut
If you like to wear your hair both straight and curly, I suggest cutting it while it is wet and smoothed out. It will give you a more even haircut. However, if you only wear your hair curly, you could totally get away with cutting it in its natural state!
