Pro-tip: when you waited too long before emptying the drip tray and it is now filled to the brim, grab a turkey baster to siphon off enough water to be able to pull the drip tray out and carry it to your sink without making a mess.
this thing pays for itself within a few months , amazing. those pour over coffee makers are so wasteful compared to these, and buying coffees in the city is stupid.
Nice review. I recently got this machine and what I am challenged with it is not matter how careful I am by ensuring all rinses are captured in a spare cup, there is water in the drip tray. Why would that happen? Is there a leak?
Hi ai, Thanks for the question. That's not a leak - it's normal operation. Even when you catch all rinses in a cup the machine does deposit some water to the drip tray internally during various operations.
Do you guys have plan to post a video of basic maintenance/troubleshooting? I have Gaggia Cardona and it displays error code 2 (Grinder disconnected). I can't find video of how to troubleshoot this issue and not sure if I should be dismantling it when it's still under warranty.
Hi M, Here's a video covering what the error codes mean on the Cadorna and possible resolutions: th-cam.com/video/UAmK3S4Tg_s/w-d-xo.html Basically it's either a loose wire to the grinder or the grinder motor failed. You can check for the loose wire or replace the grinder using this video which shows you how to open up the Cadorna to clean, calibrate or replace the grinder: th-cam.com/video/VD1IekizLbU/w-d-xo.html Hope that helps!
Does the drip tray fill up quick? I catch all the water during those mini cleans and yet the drip tray still fills up quick. I made one Americano and the front two boxes in the tray already filled up
Hey Ross, Thanks for the question. One Americano should not fill the drip tray. Here's a video which covers causes and solutions for excess water in drip tray: th-cam.com/video/VHCa3OaC34A/w-d-xo.html
That drip tray fills up FAST even when catching all the rinsing water from the spout in a cup. Is there anywhere to go to suggest improvements for the next version they make? I have thousands of coffees on mine in the last year and a half with no issues so far but I have some feedback for the next model.
Hi SJA, There is internal rinsing happening with volume varying a bit depending on the type of beverages being made. You can leave feedback here as we regularly communicate with Gaggia on product improvements. You can also contact Gaggia directly here with feedback: www.gaggia.com/gaggia/
@@Wholelattelovepage Ok some suggestions given my 2 year ownership, Larger water tank with visible level either a red bubble and or a clear section to see the water level, many times I recently fill it up then someone else uses it down and I run out halfway thru a beverage, even quicker with filter installed. Also having a full dreg drawer warning mid drink with the milk carafe in is annoying as you have to remove the carafe, dreg draw empty and start a new program, just complete the 2nd shot and drink then warn me after, it typically fits one more puck. An option to rinse when turning on or off not both mine runs 8 rinses a day at present just turning on and off which is extreme this uses up a lot of water, fills the drip tray and drains the tank fast. Whatever internal rinsing is going on it is too much spillage and fills up the drip dray internally too fast, I catch all the spout outlet rinse water and the drip stray still fills up in a day or two. Sound deadening on inside of panels would be nice for anti vibration and noise If I put my hand lightly on the left side panel its so much quieter, I also have mine sitting on a foam mat so perhaps some better feet. The drip tray / cup holder is polished steel and the vibration from the pump makes the cups slide out from under the outlet if left un-attended when brewing thus when you come back the milk or coffee has missed the cup entirely so a non slip tray would be nice. The usual complaint - Hotter output I have had people say a Nespresso comes out warmer, I tend to preheat cups with boiling water when serving guests to hide this. Programmed limits on drink sizes are an issue I use flat white which is double shot but its maximum is 100ml coffee (2 x 50ml) + 100ml milk = 200ml my smallest cup is 230ml and typical mugs here in Australia are 350ml, Cappuccino XL sounds like a great solution but there is no double shot option so you really have to make an espresso shot then a cappuccino XL. I have over 2150 drinks on the machine with no issue so far, I'd like to hear if others agree with these suggestions or have others, Cheers
Hi! I have this machine and it has recently started leaking water out the bottom of the service door and under the bottom of the grounds container. I've done descaling, brew group deoiler and all the recommended weekly/monthly maintenances but this is a recent issue that just popped up. It doesn't leak when dispensing just hot water from the spout. My o-ring is looking fresh. It doesn't seem to leak during all operations, just during some of them. Any suggestions for what to check next? This machine is about 2 years old.
Hi a, Leaks in that area are almost always caused by accumulations of coffee grounds beneath the brew unit. Cleaning the area resolves the issue. Here's a video showing issue and resolution: th-cam.com/video/vTKaQ79aqQk/w-d-xo.html
How often should the tray fill up with water if you make two drinks a day? I want to establish if I have a leak or if it's normal for it to fill up so quickly. Thanks.
Hi there, The Cadorna does release water into the drip tray internally. How much varies a bit machine to machine and depends on which drinks are made. I use a Cadorna here and probably empty the tray about every 10 drinks. You can cut down on emptying frequency by placing a cup under the spouts to catch the turn on and shut down rinse.
@@Wholelattelovepage Thank you for responding. I always have a cup collecting the water when the machine turns on and off and I still have to empty the tray every 3-4 days.
I'have Gaggia milk for 1 week. Coffee is delicious but I have 2 questions. After every coffee at the bottom drip tray there is water. Earlier at Siemens i didn't have water there, if i didn't forget to set cup under coffee system. Is this normal behavior? And sec question. If in Poland there is no local shop selling descaller and cleaning products for Gaggia then what should I use? Product from other manufacturer will be good?
Hi DP, The machine does do a cleaning cycle on start up and shut down which puts water in the drip tray. Also expels water into the drip tray with each drink made. So that's all normal behavior. For descaling and cleaning products you can use others.
Hello i have had my machine for nearly a year, and now has stopped dispensing coffe.. everything else works fine, have contacted gaggia centre and they say its not a malfunction and just needs a seal replaced does that sound right. Thankyou
Hi gw, lacking more detail it does sound like a possibility. Here's a link to our support page for the Cadorna. It has a bunch of videos and articles which should help you find and corret the issue: support.wholelattelove.com/hc/en-us/sections/360012584953-Gaggia-Cadorna-Prestige
I’ve one of these machine and one thing I’ve notice is that even though I put a container under the milk and Espresso outlet when I set the cleaning cycle the tray still tends to fill with water, Is this correct? It’s not overflowing or leaking from the fresh water tank.
Hi n, So when you prerss the flashing power button the machine does not turn on? I would try unplugging from wall power for 10 seconds, plug back in and try the power button again. If that does not resolve the issue and you purchased the machine in North America please contact our tech support here for additional assistance: www.wholelattelove.com/pages/contact-us
I am embarrassed to say that after a year and a half we just today finally cleaned out the brew unit and the tray underneath. When we were brewing Americanos it had stopped reliably dispensing the water after the espresso shot. It had also started leaking water onto the counter even though the tray underneath wasn't full. It was pretty gross and even had some mold. We've used the cleaning liquid in the past but weren't aware of this maintenance step.
Hey John, well cleaning the brew unit and the little tray is approx weekly maintenance. The little tray directs water into the drip tray through a drain. If that's plugged up water will eventually leak onto counter.
@@Wholelattelovepage We have learned our lesson, it definitely won't happen again. It's very likely that we've just forgotten but we do not remember that being in the instructions. It would be nice if future versions of the machine would have periodic display reminders if that side door doesn't get opened.
Hi mm, No plug in for steam wand on machines with the carafe. But, there is this version of the Magenta that comes equipped with a steam wand: www.wholelattelove.com/products/gaggia-cadorna-plus?variant=32228149362742
