    Thanks for this video, glad I watched it as I had no idea you could detach the milk chute & use the wand as a makeshift manual frother!

    Well done with all that buttonry. Certainly it has a lot of bells and whistles, but useful.

    How is Cadorna Barista Plus compared to the Babila one in your opinion? I know it’s older but I’m triggered by the idea of having the option of the carafe ,as well , for the days I’m bored to froth .

    Just bought the Gaggia magenta plus... All I brew is espresso and cortados and I much prefer the more traditional steam wand. Am I correct in assuming the only difference between the magenta and the cordana are the extra buttons and coffee configurations ?

      I've upgraded or downgraded from a Breville barista express. It just took too long for me to make proper drinks for me and my wife 3 times a day

    Thanks, Kev Mine arrived today and i used the code from the website so £30 off which is always nice what size milk jug would you recommend to steam milk with as the spout is very short

    Thanks for the great review, do you know how the Cadorna Plus Bean to Cup coffee machine handles drinks with milk does it have a similar attachment that you showed to froth/heat the milk or does it al have to be done with a jug and the heat wand?

    how much better is the Cadorna lineup than the Magenta line? And if you had to go with gaggia or Philips/Saeco bean to cup machines, which would you lean towards?

    • @Coffee_Kev
      @Coffee_Kev  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They're very similar in my opinion, but the Cadorna has the four separate profiles, and also has the ristretto option, which I like as it means you can very easily select a 2:1 extraction, the 4 bean setting for 10g of coffee to be ground, 20ml of espresso, and a double shot, so you end up with 40ml of espresso from 20g of coffee.
      I've not got much experience of the Philips/Saeco btc machines to be honest, but if you let me know what you're looking at, I'll have a look.
      Cheers
      Kev

    Great review!!
    Milk and features aside, how far do you think the quality of the brewed coffee in this machine is from what you can do with the Gaggia classic pro?
    I'm very tempted to go into the superautomatics but I'm not sure if buying one of these low-mid level machines equals to mediocre coffee
    Also, have you had a chance to try out the Philips superautomatic line? The 1200 is quite appealing since its much cheaper (around $500) but I've read the brewing mechanism is the same as their top of the line models

    • @Coffee_Kev
      @Coffee_Kev  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Glad you enjoyed my review, The Gaggia Classic Pro,. is a totally different machine, it is an
      home espresso machine, so cup quality is going to be so much different, Superautomatics are ultra convenient, and easy to use, but you are correct, most brew mechanisms are similar in the machines you pay for upgrades and features rather than what is going on inside the machine,
      Have a look at my review : coffeekev.com/best-espresso-machine/
      I review the Philips 1200, and various other machines which you might find helpful,
      Cheers

    Question! What should the pucks look like? The ones on the first day just break apart and it looks more like used filter coffee in the basket with very few clumps rather than discs?

    Thanks Kev, I had been looking for an understandable report on a mid-range bean to cup machine.
    I recently upgraded to a Siemens EQ.9 s700 Plus Connect, and it is amazing. I no longer have to worry about bean weight to water volume, nor tamp pressures and flow times. However I do think that I would like to tweek the grinder, because as you pointed out with the Cadorna, I feel on standard settings it needs a bit more body. I can boost it on machine settings, but as you (and the manual too) said, the grinder has to be in operation to change grind settings. Can you expand on this. Is it a must to make a coffee and just move the setting wheel while you can here it grinding? That doesn't give you much of a window, any advice?

    • @Coffee_Kev
      @Coffee_Kev  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers Paul, The EQ9 is an interesting looking machine, I've briefly mentioned this in a video I've just recorded that I'll be publishing next week.
      Yeah unfortunately you do have to adjust the grind while it's grinding, if you do it while it's not running you can potentially stall it, same with stand-alone grinders.

      @@paulakehurstdevisme9692 cheers Paul. My usual advice would be go all the way to the finest setting straight away, pull a few shots and then back up a bit coarser if you're choking the machine. The range in btc machines aren't usually big and they often don't go all that fine. Cheers

      @@Coffee_Kev Thanks Kev. This machine has 2 grinders ' one for each bean holder so you can switch to decaff without having to flush out the real thing (wife likes decaff)
      Only about 6 settings on each, so went for it and after 2nd shot seems to work well on 2nd finest mark. I think default was 3rd, so probably not a lot of difference..

      @@paulakehurstdevisme9692 Cheers Paul, yeah they're one of only a couple of home BTC machines I'm aware of that actually have 2 grinders.

    Kev couple of points, looking ag Gaggia machine, do you know if any discount codes available. Also I like a large coffee Latte say 550ml( Costa large) very milky frothy. Is this machine suitable?
    Thanks

    • @Coffee_Kev
      @Coffee_Kev  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No discounts at the moment unfortunately that I'm aware of. Yeah it's suitable, but keep in mind that bean to cup machines are not the most powerful when it comes to steam, so it'll take a while to steam that amount of milk, vs traditional espresso machines, with brew boilers, which are generally quicker at steaming, depending on which machine you go for of course. Cheers. Kev
