hi grace! i don't know if you saw avengers: earth's mightiest heroes but that show has an amazing depiction of kang, he was menacing and dignified and also morally grey and very compelling and so hard to beat. i wish this version would've leaned more into that
Shrodinger’s cat. He was all of the possibilities inside of the box until the wasp “measured” aka touched him and he collapsed into the single state which luckily for the story meant he was alive.
The Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes is the best version of Kang and he used his time travel in battle like you said it was amazing. Just makes me miss the show more 😭
You aint the only one. I loved the 1st season 1 of EMH- THE BEST VERSION of that series. Season2 had potential but was very much rushed. Avengers Assemble may look better animated, but its utter garbage

@@indoorplant2392 right? The rebellion and the eventual final battle/uprising sequences felt like they want this to be their endgame portals moment. But it just didn't do it for me.
My only gripe with the movie was Cassie. She felt like a different version from the previous movies. Idk if the actress watched the previous movies but she made Cassie out to be a rebel which fit with the rebellion but it didn't feel like I was watching the same Cassie from the other movies. Loved how they reminded the audience who the first Ant-Man is, Hank Pym arriving with the ant army was so cool. Michael Douglas was so funny with his lines in the movie. He said simple shit and it made me cackle. I marked out when Jimmy Woo was in the movie only for the restaurant scene. He's so funny and I too, wish he would've spoke. I enjoyed the movie and I thought Kang would be seen walking past Scott without him noticing. Their final battle was okay, loved the hand to hand combat. I thought he was going to escape and make it through with Scott being stuck there with no way to escape. I was thinking this is how Scott could disappear before Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars.
That Cassie was like 8 this Cassie is 16/17 of course you can't have an actor playing a teenager to act like a 8 year old. 8 year Olds don't act the same when they turn 11.
@@reggiebrown9508 That's not what I mean. Of course a teenager won't act like a 8 year old, but she felt more like a rebel against her father instead of the Cassie we seen in previous movies who told her father everything and always wanted to be by his side.
I had a HARD time staying awake.but Johnathan Majors was amazing. His ability to pull focus has never been more apparent than in the scenes he shared with Michelle Pfeiffer.
Lol I didn't get enough sleep and arrived late at my shift because of something. Then I rewatched Ant-Man and the Wasp before I watched Quantumania. It wasn't anything higher than a 6/10 but I didn't want to sleep. Lol
I think the movie had flashes of brilliance (mostly on the backs of the amazing actors). However I fell the entire family being sucked into the quantum realm was very limiting to the story and created som green screen fatigue for me. I’d have much preferred Hank and Janet to remain in the surface world as Scott and Hope go to rescue Cassie UNTIL the trio meets Kang and Janet knows she must go back to protect them from an evil only she understands.
Personally, Kang didn't feel menacing at all. Kang is from an ultra advance timeline and we see even with limited powers, he was able to build a technological civilization yet he couldn't figure out and make his own pym particles? Thanos in 2014 figured it out like nothing. Kang had both Scott and Cassie. All he needed to do was take their suits. Why did he need Scott? Scott didn't do any thieving at all. So much of the writing was just bad. Also, not a fan of Cassie's actress. I feel bad for the other actress who got replaced, especially by someone who isn't that good. With that said, I thought the movie was OK. Not as terrible as critics are saying, but I can't really defend it and say it was a great movie either.
Tis’ Star Wars meets Shark Boy and Lava Girl. My issue is how Kang was handled, I expected higher stakes. It’s cheap that “there’s more Kangs so this wasn’t the main one and he dies”
Grace, Kang has ALWAYS been overly arrogant. Not shocked with his monologuing. There are a ton of Kang's and they are not all super dignified. His time travel may not work in the quantum realm as the area is out of time.
Saying that the Loki end credit scene is better than the movie itself is a real reach Grace. All Loki does in that end credit scene is just stand there. Give the movie a smidge more credit will ya. It had good moments.
*How Rick and Morty took over the MCU.* One of the ways of entering a franchise and taking over the writing going forward - is to intentionally contradict or retcon the previous story. A good example of this was shown in Star Wars 7 - 9 - also known as Rian vs. JJ. JJ created Snoke. So Rian killed him off. So JJ brought Palpatine back from the dead. {which makes the 1st trilogy pointless) Same thing is happening with the MCU. For example Wanda Vision ended with Wanda at Mount WunderGore with the Darkhold. Multiverse of Madness specifically denied this - claiming that Wanda had never been to WunderGore and that her DarkHold was a copy. Meanwhile Vision was treated (in every Universe) as if he didn’t exist. AntMan 3 is retconned so that Janet spent 30 years having a 3 way - with Kang and Bill Murray, but never warned anyone, for “reasons”. They act like Kang has no time related abilities in the Quantum Realm - even though sending time thru a person in the Quantum Realm so they move backwards of forwards in time is *exactly what Banner did to Scott* in Endgame. Kang is made to be a complete useless fool who can’t do anything besides get his butt kicked by ants - because that’s the only way for the Rick and Morty writers to get their idiot plot to work. This is done *on purpose* so that no one else can take over *their* story - no matter how badly it bombs.
Thank you for your breakdown. I just watched the movie and I was waiting for this video. I think it is an OK movie but I won't watch it again on a teather. Maybe on Disney+. The best part are the end credits scenes.
Finally saw it. Wasn’t as bad as many have said but get some of the gripes. It was entertaining for it was but hope future movies get better. I did love Pfeiffer ❤️
What I really loved was that in the end credits sequence they first showed "ANT MAN" and then they added the Q, U, U, I and A to spell "QUANTUMANIA" lol
Phase 2 and 3 were successful because they were the climax and conclusion to a saga like a story or a movie, substitute phase with act and you have the formula, phase 1 was the intro, now we are in a new saga so phase 4 was act 1 and now phase 5 is act 2
I just finished watching. It was okay I guess, definitely doesn't deserve that RT score. ALSO side note, I loved everytime Janet called Hank "Henry" bc it reminded me of the Avengers: Unite They Stand series.
While I appreciate your opinion and commentary, I just saw the film and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the film. I found it fun and touching at times.
One line could’ve saved this movie. If Kang would have baited Scott into “killing him” with a punch that sent him into the engine… then Scott hesitating and thinking of the other timelines, but doing it to save Cassie in this one… Kang could’ve given a small wink as he went into the engine. That would’ve told us that he’s coming back, made the easy defeat more purposeful, and gave us all something to be excited about. *sigh*
The pitch was Ant-Man finding himself alone in an Avengers film. Thanos almost single-handedly smashed all the Avengers, Guardians & company. There's no way Kang should have been defeated by just two heroes. Scott losing could have created hype like a mini-Infinity War ending. You wouldn't have needed that post-credit scene because fans would already be wondering "What happens next!?"
I don't understand the hate for this movie honestly. Was it the best ? no. Was it horrible ? also no. Maybe the RT critics score should have been like 63%... It's far better than love and thunder, dark world, iron man 2, hulk, antman and the wasp and many others.
Grace is great, but sometimes her takes on some films are to the point of absurdity, Quantumania being one of those times. I appreciate a different opinion though, but for someone who I know studies the film industry and comics, I'm having a hard understanding a lot of her conclusions here. Oh well. I always appreciate her work and effort.
I don't know what the Critics were on, but this film was REALLY Good It's not perfect! But it's off at a nice pace for Phases 5 and 6! Had some corny moments but it made its way around! Kang, Janet, and Scott were the highlights of this film. Cassie had a neat introduction. Hank and Hope were awesome to have around but needed more moments with the family. I was unsure of M.O.D.O.K's design, but it actually grew onto me. The majority of the movie, he had his mask on. He was DEFINITELY underused, but he was alright. I give it an 8.5/10 Looking forward to more Kang!
@22:59 what it means. Is that until "You" make the decision the cat is alive and dead. So they are all alive and all dead. Until he makes a choice. Once the choice is made. Every other Scoot should die.
The Quantumania title at the end had a capitalized Q and A, both in the Avengers font with the A matching the Avengers logo and the Q matching the Qeng logo from Loki.
Honestly the trailer made me think Scott was going to make some deal with Kang to go back in time to spend more time with Cassie. Got a lot less from what I was expecting in the actual movie.
I’m appalled by the Rotten Tomatoes score. This is eternals all over again. (A movie I ADORED). This movie had its problems but it’s no where near as bad as some are saying. LEAGUES better than Love and Thunder and I’d also put it above Multiverse of Madness.
For me, the worst MCU movies are: 1. The Eternals 2. Guardians 2 3. Ant-Man 3 Ant-Man 3 is all over the place. I didn’t care about any of the characters or plot lines. I love Paul Rudd as this character. But this movie was a mess.
Damn, Grace! One minute in and you say what I've been saying for too many Marvel entries now: that MCU cameos and end-credits are now better than the films! I'm staying home and on Disney+ for the next 30 MCU films and 30 Marvel shows! But I did advance-purchase the book!
I’m not much of a fan of Evangeline Lily BUT at the same time want Wasp to actually be a headlining Avenger like the comics. Doesn’t make sense that she wasn’t introduced as one, at least
Honestly I feel like the movie should have ended with Scott and hope ending up in a different universe unable to tell their universe’s avengers about kang. Then we could see Scott and hope form their own avengers team in the universe they landed in. With a roster consisting of them, Thor, hulk, and iron man variants. And the next time we would see them would be in avengers secret wars.
@@aojvx Beyonders in comics are so vague and they’ve been retconned twice - the only through line with the character(s) is they are “beyond” our universe giving them insane power. more than celestials, watchers, etc. Kang being sucked into the paradox storm vortex is a great excuse to say they gave him access to even greater power than any of Kang had known before. Really hope they’re doing this because otherwise this movie is fairly crud 😅
This review is great! I love how you find the positives and negatives of the movie and discuss them as opposed to trashing the movie for the sake of it. I'm subscribing!
0:17 Haha the council of Kangs made me not want to see anymore MCU films but the Loki season 2 sneak peek was for sure the best part of this entire film🤣
I really enjoyed this movie, even as someone who hasn’t enjoyed most of the projects post Endgame! Genuinely surprised they killed Kang The Conqueror at the end. I really thought he was going to be our major villain variant. Guess we’ll have to see what they plan on doing.
I think calling this movie’s Kang the Conqueror a Saturday morning cartoon villain is a disservice to Saturday morning cartoons, Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ version of Kang was great!
I enjoyed it more then I thought I would. I hope they change the quality for the following films and shows coming up but as you say I doubt we’ll see any proper change soon :/
Girlfriend and I don't really know the comics, so maybe for that reason we had a good time with this movie. I was actually reminded of OG Star Wars in a good way, a galaxy where you have no idea what to expect. A psychedelic madhouse, sure, and I love the Captain America spy thrillers, but I enjoyed Quantumania all the same.
I actually really enjoyed this movie. it was light hearted but had stakes. kang is absolutely amazing and very menacing. i loved the small character moments as well, like when Hope immediately jumped into the portal as soon as her parents went in. Janet is by far the biggest surprise for me, her fight scenes were fun and her scenes with kang were great as well. i understand why this movie won’t gel well with fans, but to me, it was a fun adventure that sets up Kang well. i definitely don’t think this movie deserves the rotten tomato score that it has.
Agents of Shield were given the green light to do live action MODOK and already had the set up with the character the Superior’s head in a jar controlling an army of LMD’s following season 4, but Marvel Studios changed their mind and wanted MODOK for the films instead, so AoS had to scrap their storyline and this is what we got instead 😂
Was very irritated with Kangs defeat. Sometimes the connectivity of the MCU kind of ruins and rushes the individual movies. Like how does a man that has killed Thor and multiple averangers numerous times, can’t stop an army of ants? He can’t beat Antman 1v1? I get they have to do Kang Dynasty but to me the end kind of took away his menacing factor.
It's amazing to see the Wasp showing up at the end beating up Kang. I also noticed that she didn't had her helmet on while in her suit blasting Kang. Does it this mean her power has been upgraded and she will no longer need her helmet moving forward like the Wasp in the comics?
This movie wasn’t bad than I thought it would be yes the VFX was bad at times and the script was weak but I had a ok time the end credits were weak as well I give the film 3/5 stars
OMG! Really loved this movie. The family aspect had me wreaked! Every time he says peanut I broke. I loved that Hope came back. The fact they didn’t kiss was more impactful to me. But I agree the end credit scene should not have had unruly Kangs or conformation of Kangs death. Loki’s setup was fire 🔥.
Im usually always optimistic about upcoming movies but in 2020 when Peyton Reed was confirmed to direct quantumania, a movie with KANG i knew we were doomed
As for the comments about MODOK, this version of the character was clearly born of the MCU and has nothing to do with the source material. You want to understand the motivation behind this MODOK, be sure to watch Ant-man 1 for context.
I’m sorry, but I liked this movie a lot. It DEFINITELY has issues and I COMPLETELY understand why you wouldn’t like it, but I had a lot of fun with it. Unlike Multiverse of Madness which didn’t deliver on the multiverse part of the title, this movie delivers A LOT OF Quantum Realm and a LOT of Mania. KANG IS TREMENDOUS. Majors KILLS it. And while MODOK was super unnecessary and cringeworthy, I sort of interpreted that as a result of Kang’s experiments with Darren resulting in his mind becoming even more unstable. It was actually kind of sad tbh. Also, the post credit scenes are GOLD and have made me really interested in the future of the MCU going into Kang Dynasty.
Having a Kang variant show up at the birthday dinner would've made the ending infinitely better, I have no idea why they didn't do that

hi grace! i don't know if you saw avengers: earth's mightiest heroes but that show has an amazing depiction of kang, he was menacing and dignified and also morally grey and very compelling and so hard to beat. i wish this version would've leaned more into that
then the movie couldnt happen ... No way , Ant Man would have bested him alone :)
Really hope they do kang faithful to that in Avengers 5
The Skrulls and Ultron were so good in that show as well.
Loved EMH Avengers. Shame it’s replacement was trash!
@@lilsabin Bro that was weak kang variant not the prime KANG
Shrodinger’s cat. He was all of the possibilities inside of the box until the wasp “measured” aka touched him and he collapsed into the single state which luckily for the story meant he was alive.
The Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes is the best version of Kang and he used his time travel in battle like you said it was amazing. Just makes me miss the show more 😭
You aint the only one. I loved the 1st season 1 of EMH- THE BEST VERSION of that series. Season2 had potential but was very much rushed. Avengers Assemble may look better animated, but its utter garbage
💯
same
It’s just cringy how Feige is going around every interview trying to convince us how big of a threat Kang is. Show, don’t tell Feige!
He is a big threat ?And wait for Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars to see how big of a threat he is !LOL
As big a marvel fan as I am. I actually was fighting myself from dozing off while watching. Madness.
I went into this movie and expected to give this movie a C score. I just finished and I left with a B-. It has a lot of problems but I was never bored. Not a great movie but makes me excited for Phase 5!
@@noobbotgaming2173 it has its moments. But some sections could have been edited more neatly.
Same I thought this movie dragged so hard lmao
@@indoorplant2392 right? The rebellion and the eventual final battle/uprising sequences felt like they want this to be their endgame portals moment. But it just didn't do it for me.
The movie became boring sooo fast that was my biggest issue, I stopped caring about half ways into the movie it all became a whole lot of nothing
You have no idea how my entire theatre in karachi exploded when loki came on screen, it was crazy im so surprised loki is so big here
scott & kang trapped in the quantum realm would’ve been great set up for avengers 5 : LETS GO SAVE ANTMAN
Lol
Yeah u didn't get sleepy at all
I think the movie had flashes of brilliance (mostly on the backs of the amazing actors).
Considering how great Pfifer was, I wouldn’t mind seeing Scott and Janet instead of Hope
I thought the signal to the Ten Rings in _Shang-Chi_ was related, like another signal trying to get out, but it wasn't.
*How Rick and Morty took over the MCU.*
One of the ways of entering a franchise and taking over the writing going forward - is to intentionally contradict or retcon the previous story.
A good example of this was shown in Star Wars 7 - 9 - also known as Rian vs. JJ.
JJ created Snoke. So Rian killed him off. So JJ brought Palpatine back from the dead. {which makes the 1st trilogy pointless)
Same thing is happening with the MCU.
Buttery popcorn and a cocktail makes every movie better.
What I really loved was that in the end credits sequence they first showed "ANT MAN" and then they added the Q, U, U, I and A to spell "QUANTUMANIA" lol
havn't seen the movie but whoever thought of this is so damn dope!
thats neat
Good to know they at least acknowledged it somewhere!
I think that's the whole reason they called it quANTuMANia
I’m beginning to wonder if Gunn was more responsible for phase 2 & 3’s success than we thought, and that’s why WB was so willing to hire him for DC
You really think the guy that made only two movies is responsible for the success of a dozen projects?
Like the suicide squad was a masterpiece 😂😂
Disagree gun added to it but didn’t make it the MCU that was feigi and maybe favreu second
Gunn definitely expanded the universal elements, but Phase 2 & 3 were part Feige part Favreau.
ALSO side note, I loved everytime Janet called Hank "Henry" bc it reminded me of the Avengers: Unite They Stand series.
thats sweet, true💙
This film should have just been a Janet prequel about her time in the Quantum realm with Kang.
It didn't need to be an Antman film.
I thought the movie was good. I enjoyed Kang and Janet's backstories and their dialogues. I'm excited to see more of Kang
Kang got beaten by ants... Got hurt from antman's punch and wasp projectiles.. really menacing villain huh.. lmao
While I appreciate your opinion and commentary, I just saw the film and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the film. I found it fun and touching at times.
Agree 100%! I enjoyed the movie very much as well.
The little panda fighter which is a rip off of Kung Fu panda is an enjoyable movie but doesn't mean it's good
@spongeBobGotTheSudsBecause HeDankAsHell well you definitely put me in my place. Congrats!
@spongebobgotthesudsbecause5169 it was good for me and that what it counts. Don't try to impose your opinion I did not ask for it.
Me too
One line could’ve saved this movie. *sigh*
People walked out of the theater, pretty bad. Did one thing good, one good end credit scene. Definitely not worth spending that money.
It was hard for me to stay awake during this film. Majors was by FAR the best part of this movie.
This is so funny. The person two seats away was snoring for more than half of the movie!
@@vivaciousom5347 haha might’ve been me 😂
I don't understand the hate for this movie honestly. Was it the best ? no. Was it horrible ? also no. Maybe the RT critics score should have been like 63%... It's far better than love and thunder, dark world, iron man 2, hulk, antman and the wasp and many others.
I love how you posted this right when I came out of the theater!!
It was timed perfectly 🎉
Grace is great, but sometimes her takes on some films are to the point of absurdity, Quantumania being one of those times. I appreciate a different opinion though, but for someone who I know studies the film industry and comics, I'm having a hard understanding a lot of her conclusions here. Oh well. I always appreciate her work and effort.
I don't know what the Critics were on, but this film was REALLY Good
It's not perfect!
I give it an 8.5/10
Looking forward to more Kang!
@22:59 what it means. Is that until "You" make the decision the cat is alive and dead. So they are all alive and all dead. Until he makes a choice. Once the choice is made. Every other Scoot should die.
That's why only one Scott remained at the end, it made sense.
Kang being able to time warp during battles reminds me of Prince of Persia, that would've been awesome.
I wish Hope had more to do. It’s called “Ant Man & The Wasp” but there was very little Wasp 🥲
I’m appalled by the Rotten Tomatoes score. This is eternals all over again. (A movie I ADORED). This movie had its problems but it’s no where near as bad as some are saying. LEAGUES better than Love and Thunder and I’d also put it above Multiverse of Madness.
Agree
For me, the worst MCU movies are:
1. The Eternals
2. Guardians 2
3. Ant-Man 3
Ant-Man 3 is all over the place.
OK !As if they’re begging for your money anyways !LOL
@@fahimalfaisal7781 Oh, yeah, Marvel will survive without me. :)
15:49 lol Grace, you were about to say the forbidden words hahaha
I loved this movie. Protecting the little guy is now my favorite line
I just watched and what's so funny to me is my crowd only cheered when they saw loki lol 😂
Grace on the soundtrack they had a track called Kang Bang 😂
I’m not much of a fan of Evangeline Lily BUT at the same time want Wasp to actually be a headlining Avenger like the comics. Doesn’t make sense that she wasn’t introduced as one, at least
I definitely think this is one of the movies where the hero should have lost. Would have made Kang a threat to any Avenger individually.
The Conquerer isn’t dead! he’s becoming the Beyonder!
this is how kang fits into secret wars!
the ant thing was stupid…
What is the Beyonder
Yo you are right!!!!!!!!!!
Really hope they’re doing this because otherwise this movie is fairly crud 😅
i just saw ant man and i thought y’all were joking about jonathan majors being good but wow oh wow was he great.
I think in time we will grow to see how much of a masterpiece this movie is. If you notice, Kang stated multiple times that I know how this ends
I don't think so man.
@@varunc9110 😂
"Masterpiece" lol
So you’ve seen it already?
he said the same thing in loki
This review is great! I love how you find the positives and negatives of the movie and discuss them as opposed to trashing the movie for the sake of it. I'm subscribing!
My expectations were really low going in so it was ok for me. I thought Evangeline Lily’s screen time was adequate. It was enough to serve the story.
0:17 Haha the council of Kangs made me not want to see anymore MCU films but the Loki season 2 sneak peek was for sure the best part of this entire film🤣
Cartoony.
I really enjoyed this movie, even as someone who hasn’t enjoyed most of the projects post Endgame! Genuinely surprised they killed Kang The Conqueror at the end. I really thought he was going to be our major villain variant. Guess we’ll have to see what they plan on doing.
@@Strangerz64easy? It took two full armies and destroying all his stuff to beat him. I don’t think he is actually done anyway.
The Kang that was killing all the other Kangs, just lost to fucking Scott Lang....that tells you that there's no tension from here on out.
I think calling this movie’s Kang the Conqueror a Saturday morning cartoon villain is a disservice to Saturday morning cartoons, Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ version of Kang was great!
The villain suits all look the same this phase. Kang, High Evolutionary, Adam Warlock. They look like they all bought their suits from the same shop.
They got them from Luke Jacobson.
The avengers cartoon had a better Kang lol
Marvel Puppet
Agreed👏👏👏
It having a lower RT score than Love and Thunder is wild to me. It’s not as bad at L&T, but it’s honestly not a very good movie.
Janet flying the beast in the quantum realm through the desert area was so "The Last Jedi" it took me out of the movie for a second.
I love Agents of Shield
Was very irritated with Kangs defeat. Sometimes the connectivity of the MCU kind of ruins and rushes the individual movies. Like how does a man that has killed Thor and multiple averangers numerous times, can’t stop an army of ants? He can’t beat Antman 1v1? I get they have to do Kang Dynasty but to me the end kind of took away his menacing factor.
I watched it with my 12 year old brother and he didn't even want to finish the movie I keep forcing him to stay and just finish the movie😅
It's amazing to see the Wasp showing up at the end beating up Kang. I also noticed that she didn't had her helmet on while in her suit blasting Kang. Does it this mean her power has been upgraded and she will no longer need her helmet moving forward like the Wasp in the comics?
Kang is no Thanos.
_everytime he says peanut I broke_
Wow, that’s some powerful conditioning. What does the therapist say?
relax gurl! It wasnt that deep, peanut!
I love it when Grace has a review that I agree with!!!
Im usually always optimistic about upcoming movies but in 2020 when Peyton Reed was confirmed to direct quantumania, a movie with KANG i knew we were doomed
So ?
Never apologize for liking a film!
The movie was dope you can't expect Ant man to be Spider man or Captain America.
Uploading as soon as my showing ended! The first post credo scene felt like a parody sponsored by Party City 😂
I liked how Janet and Hank were open with how they cheated on each other during their time apart. People have needs!
Hank: She wasn’t you baby.
😂
“What is this Alice in Wonderland” 😂😭18:53 I always love your commentary Grace. Fantastic breakdown!
Nerfed Kand and Modok was horrible....but the bar is low after phase 4 imo
