What do I want to play before the end of the year? Anything. Literally anything. My shelf of shame is way to big on top of life being very busy and tiring, I would love to play anything. I’ve had Trailblazers: The John Muir Trail set up on my table for days now. Still haven’t played it. So Alex, I’ll take any game for $500. 😂
I took SETI off my wishlist recently, might change my mind at some point, but at the moment Black Forest, Civplution, Beyond the Horizon and Saltfjord are the only ones I feel like i need to play.
Fishing, Daitoshi, SETI and Shackleton base are all on my to try list but I think just Fishing and Shackleton will be must buys. I'm very keen on SETI but want to see what the longetivity is like.
Cool idea for a list! These are all going to get in the way of you guys playing all the BGG Top 100 this year though, right? ....Right? (If you read that with the Padame/Anakin meme you're my kind of person 😅)
I can see that. Having played both I can confirm that they are different enough. Ironwood is 2 player of course; but the main difference is that Ironwood is card based. Yes you still move troops around to control areas, but your cards will impact everything you do, whereas in Root you're more leveraging your faction abilities with support from card powers.

Ironwood really reminds me of the Podkin One-Ear book series I'm reading with my son. Definitely going to add it to my list!

Fishing has been one of the true highlights of the year thus far, as well as 7W:LOTR. Civolution was disappointing.

I am mind-boggled that y’all haven’t played Duel for Middle Earth yet! 🤪

That ironwood gives off a bit of a Root vibe.
