- Learn to draw the neck by understanding the anatomical details. Full drawing lesson at proko.com/anatomy
In this drawing lesson, we'll stick out our necks to examine how the neck moves and what muscles can be seen on the surface. We'll cover two very important muscles of the neck - the levator scapulae and the sternocleidomastoidus. You'll learn how these muscles move, where they attach, and other anatomical details that will help you when drawing the neck.
The trapezius is a major neck muscle, but we covered that last time, so make sure you watch it!

You sir are a gem within the art community. While a lot of us can learn about the muscle location and shape, you introduce animation and interactions along with them, it's fantastic.
Thank you for educating us. I've learned lots!
+Zinriusminazen :) thank you
Why this video is amazing
10% education
90% terrible jokes
Proko deserves a Pulitzer xD
i love his terrible jokes
This guy is probably the best art teacher on TH-cam. I wonder how he feels about that. XD
"Esternocleidomossasaurus"
Shall i say, round of applause everyone
And trapezatron... 😂
This tutorial came at the EXACT right moment! THANK YOU!
Oooohhhh i really could have used this for the videos i did last week. Awesome work as usual!!!!!
These videos are SUPER useful, thanks!
As not an artist, but a sports professional these videos are useful to me. I love to see nice anatomical illustration (I'm a geek sorry😅🤓) and how to identify them on the body. Being able to visualize these structures are essential in my profession (for both massage and movement recognition)
I barely learned that women have "eve's" apples
and now I get why it's called an "adam's" apple
Thanks proko, I learned so much about how to draw steroidcloromastodon
I absolutely love all of these videos. From the super informative content to the jokes. Proko is the best!
I just bought the book "Human Anatomy for Artists" by Szunyoghy & Feher, all of your videos are a wonderful complementation!
Greetings!
>trapezatron
wait a sec r u tryna goof me again
what about levator retriever and sternocleidomastosaurus doe?
This is great! Thank you
Great video!!
Proko is a great teacher. Had me cracking up at 6:37. I don't know why but I DO know why.
Thank u, very good, it has helped me
1:42 skelly finally got to BONE someone
Yooooo uohh
Thank you!
Excellente vidéo!

+Zeltos Gryffindor is like a class right? No wait it's a house... Whatever! you know what I mean.
i have nothing to do with drawing but i come to ur Channel to revise anatomy :v ur explanation is really good
I'm so happy for skelly :)
4:30 my exact reaction on it's name
you are a magnificent artist... but I truly love your videos, by the jokes of the "skull"... you are a great guy! one in a million man!
very useful
Excellent
How do you turn your movements into Skelly's animations? Is it some kind of motion capture?
Nope it was just reference I think
I really like your work and effort you put into making these videos but I have to ask: Will you be doing videos on anatomy of the limbs?
+Psyho 3 yup. Starting in August
Proko Teach us how to draw a skull in perspective please!!
Seems like you had a lot of fun with this one!
Great explanation Stan !!!
I would love to have premium access now, but I have to save some money
I hope to get it in the near future :)
Thanks Stan
Cheers :D
The fear of a name only increases fear of the thing itself o.o haha
Beatifull
I'm having a hard time with the position of the thyroid cartilage. I'm not sure what good the angle of the cartilage is when its covered by skin. Is there any way to remember how high up the thyroid cartilage is from the pit of the neck?
It's good to see that Ron found something to do outside of procrastinating for once.
Levator Scapulae was a new one for me. And for some reason I always say sternocleidomastoid(eus) with Arnold Schwarzenegger's accent.
I love YOU C:
I’ve been drawing headshots but wanted to draw more complex motion, necks do so much
LEGEND PROLORD
Cool
When are you going to upgrade the app that I purchased from you so that muscles can be seen just like what you show on the videos
Super
the drill with proko vids is i see a sketch coming, i hit skip forward a bunch of times
Good good good..
this is literally science class
Fr
2:58 "LABRADOR RETRIEVER'
Queria aprender anotomia, ia ser legal se fosse traduzido em português o áudio, tem essa função 🥺❤️ mas estou aprendendo
Também gostaria que tivesse, mas a legenda em espanhol ajuda um pouco ;-;
Jijo mano!! Como comico eres muy buen dibujante!! Jajajajaja
is it just me or was the only one who felt so emotional when skella and skelly got together
If Sternocleidomastoid seems long for you, it can be shortened to SCM. I just that from an anatomy part of my encyclopedia.
hahahahahahah those magic tricks, man this video is awesome, hahahahahahahahha in many levels. Thank you.
.i'm actually watching this for the second time with actual understanding, i binge watched it when i couldn't even pronounce "Deltoid", i always kept saying "Deltroid" for some reason....reading carefully helps, especially if you're 12+4 like me.
Still a better love story than twilight.
You think 2018 is a bit too late for that joke?
It's 2020 and i like it.
Why schools don't teach us like this
Sternum Claudio Mastodon Saurus, I finally got it guys
Nailed it! lol
Got done watching your appearance on the Adobe stream. Why didn't your wear your signature black shirt?!
Haha I was on vacation. That was my vacation shirt :)
Why is skelly so cute with a neck?
I'm gonna call it the Trapezatron from now on
Good schtuffezes! Fangs
yay
Oh, Ron -- I mean! -- Stan...
Lol this is not just useful for artists , it’s useful for medicine students too :D
i found really hard to laugh with proko jokes
the skeletons creeped me out, good animation though
still misprounounced sternocleidomastoideus throughout the video:)
7:39 me when i have a mental breakdown, but then i realize it's kinda cringe, so i end up watching memes.
I too can pronouce the sternocironomestroidious
tacod
We need a lesson how to sketch with the iPad Pro ……… can you?
there are plenty of other channels that go in detail about this i'd reccomend you look those up.
+Ethan Walker thanks… can you give me a link for it ?
just draw with it??? Tablets are awkward but really its just repetition and adjustment and not so much a secret approach that makes its easier.
Karate chops Adam's apple*
👌👌👌👌💕
Excellence; i`m technologist
Pssh, Gryffindor... Slytherin's where it's at!
Put 3:45 on 2x speed and you can understand what Shelly says better XD
Damn
I'll...just stick with V-neck-muscles.

if the sternocleidomastoid sounds intimidating, allow me to introduce the "levator labii superioris alaeque nasi" muscle.
You added extra i sounds. You said "sternocleidiomastoideus" 😂
It's the sternocleidomastoideus or just "sternocleidomastoid".
If you don't want draw like this .... let me laugh

Hey, Proko! Just an Idea... Next time you show the, "if you don't want your drawings to look like this...", you should show a failed critiqued drawing by one of your worst students. 😂😂😂
Necks are really complex, lol
Skeleton+skeleton= Jack skeleton.
Me: 2 distant line will be fine
Me: see this..
Me: so that was all a lie that was a lie??!😭😣
Me: U had on job one job and you failed it. Imma so disappointed at myself
Bye bye guys I'll meet u in hell for lying😚
Sorry guys I am just learning eng..❤
Great tutorial, atleast without all that goofy shit...
Next stop , the legs
Nope it's the arms...
Dang it
This did not show us how to draw the neck!
It's not really for that,
It's more of a class to take after you know the basic forms of the neck,
kinda of like an intermediate class than a beginner one.
He has another video for the basic forms of the neck that would help you draw it though,
It's called: Learn to Draw the Neck - Forms You Should Know
