- Thankful to Anantara Angkor Wat for booking a tour and finding an amazing guide who was both fluent in Thai and English so my wife and I could enjoy the story and details that lies in Angkor Wat. My wife and I were absolutely blown away at the scale and detail of Angkor Wat and what an accomplishment of the people of the Khmer Empire to have undergone such a notable feat in creating Angkor Wat. The Khmer people were ahead of their time and surely skilled and dedicated to make Angkor Wat a reality. After we toured Angkor Wat, we took a quick tour of Angkor Tom South Gate which was interesting to hear about. We ended the tour at Ta Prohm that was featured in the Angelina Jolie film of Tomb Raider. Really was amazed at Ta Prohm how nature and the ancient buildings formed a really breathtaking place.
Later that afternoon, we checked into Zannier Hotels’ Resort of Phum Baitang. They took the traditional Khmer Style home and made amidst rice fields a peaceful and tranquil resort. The staff were so helpful and caring as my wife got food poisoning after earing sushi and had a fever. The staff kept an eye on my wife and even had a nurse come by to check on my wife. The staff brought my wife warm drinks to help sooth her stomach and even soup to help aid in her ailment. Talk about caring and Phum Baitang staff went above and beyond to make our stay fabulous. The food was delicious during breakfast.
Went to attend the Khmer Empire Marathon, as this marathon was postponed multiple of years as had signed up for the 2020 race but due to Covid, 2022 finally saw runners coming back to race in Cambodia’s only Marathon. It was a small and intimate race, plenty of space and amazing signs to see along the way. The community was involved and got to give high fives and got cheered on by many locals along the way. I was just happy to finish the ride and had a trusty Tuk Tuk driver who took me to the race early and waited for me at the end. He was a down to earth gentleman and met many other kind hearted people of Cambodia. It was a great experience and had another amazing trip. A big Thanks to the Cambodian Government, our local tour guide, the local photographer who gave us amazing pictures to cherish, Phum Baitang staff, my Tuk Tuk driver, Khmer Empire Marathon organizers and volunteers, and the kind hearted people of Cambodia who have an amazing country! Thank you all!
