Aloha Arpita Patra.happymom, I hope you can stay at Saii Phi Phi Island Village Resort as it a great place to stay. We arranged transportation directly through the resort as we didn't want to do all the legwork and research to figure out all the logistics etc. especially as we were coming from Khon Kaen. As the resort picked up us at the airport with vans that brought us to 7/11 to pick up some snacks and drinks and then to the pier that had a boat waiting for us, very easy. However, on the way back to Phuket we did book with a gentleman who owned the restaurant in the village outside the resort. He owned a speedboat that he books for travelers. It is definitely cheaper then what the resort charges but for us, it was easier to book once we were on the island and could shop around and talk to people. If you are staying in Phuket first then going to Saii Phi Phi Island Village on a following day, I think it is easier to book and shop around town for a private boat charter to Saii Phi Phi Island Village. Also for September, The rainy or 'monsoon' season in Thailand occurs between July and October. I still think it is hit or miss as we went outside the rainy season in December but we did have rain when we arrived to Phi Phi Island that afternoon, but it cleared up later that afternoon too and it was sunny the next 2 days. Heading to the South of Thailand as the kids have break from school and to maybe teach them surfing and a neighboring country for a marathon. Hope all is well in Japan Ian James =)

Hi Amie, yeah, I went directly to the official hotel website when booking my quarantines for my trip in April and also my other trip in December. A lot easier to do transactions directly with hotel as the April trip I had purchased a package for 14 day quarantine and it changed to 10 days then to 7 days, and easier to get reimbursed for the difference as opposed to dealing with a travel website which involves more parties.

Thanks for watching OsinOz & appreciate your comments and I did not even notice until you pointed that out. And now looking back to the hotels I stayed where they had the reception desk set-up, the only other hotel I recall where I have experienced or remember is just a few doors down, The St. Regis, Bangkok and I remember I was sitting waiting, and a staff welcomed me and greeting me with the Thai Wai and escorted me to the reception desk area and I took a seat and she took a seat behind the desk. Little bit different the set-ups and how they went through the process between the hotels but it can leave a first impression. Nevertheless, everything I experienced at the Waldorf was still amazing.

@@flyandrun21 yes, looks like NYC WA has alots to catch up. If the reception is not the person escorting you to the room (I wonder how many hotels are still doing that.) At least they need to farewell you on standing upon you are leaving. Oh well, I'm just an old fashion hotelier.

@@os1611 Waldorf Astoria Bangkok actually had the personal concierge escort me to the room(did not video it unfortunately) and settle me in similar to the Four Seasons Chiang Mai. I agree, standing up when one leaves would be a nice gesture as this etiquette of the hotel industry needs to be maintained and not lost as things do change.

Hi Super Me, At this time, I paid over 29,000THB for 7 days which was actually 8 days of quarantine as the day I arrived was considered day 0. There are hotels less expensive and other ones more expensive for sure. Depends on what you want. Also, I hear Thailand is going back to Test & Go in February which is like one day/night quarantine. Anyways, safe travels to Thailand.

Thanks again Venom9768HI. Yeah, at one point when I booked initially I had seen people having quarantined 2 weeks heading to Thailand or Singapore, so I know it could be done. I was preparing for the worse but time kind of flew, and never ate so much as each meal was so big and I am use to 2 meals a day. Yeah it was the first time I ever stayed in a hotel for so long. It was a good challenge for me looking back. =D

Thanks again Venom9768HI. Very much appreciated. Many TH-camrs stayed at this hotel as very stylish and the pool system and gardens are so nicely designed. We ended up getting the pool villa room as kind of worried that the main pools would be closed due to Covid but thankfully all the pools were open still as it was hot and the kids needed to swim. This place was just over $300/night as it was pool villa. It was ok as we had not traveled in over a year and had saved since been working a lot of overtime during the pandemic.

Thanks so much Venom9768HI =) Yeah, my wife and family really enjoyed this place as it was really nice modern design home and with nice pool and kid pool with waterfall. We were supposed to go to Phi Phi Island and Phuket at this time but Covid got bad at this time and Air Asia canceled all flights. So we went all out and went back on another road trip to Khao Yai. Yeah, leave it to the locals to drive. They drive so well and definitely safer this way. =)

Yeah Four Seasons always the best and first time in my life staying at one. We went all out for the honeymoon.

This was a great place and one of my wife's favorite as the place included a kitchen for family to cook and we saved $ not having to eat out for dinner but the resort provided a nice breakfast in the mornings. At the time the place was just over $400/night but you get 4 bedrooms and 4 bath a kitchen and your own private pool. It is local small resort and the service was top notch for sure. This place I booked on Expedia but it is also listed on AirBnB.

This hotel was one I wanted to stay for a while as I always saw rated in Top 10 hotels in Conde Nast Readers Choice Awards every year for Bangkok. Cost was about the same as Hilton Hawaiian Village, around $250/night but this was the Test & Go Price for One day/night quarantine.

Aloha Chuck, yeah seems like things are getting better with time. Sure things will be a lot better in May than now. Actually arrived here in Bangkok 2 days ago and just got a nasal swab much easier than April, checked into the hotel for the Test & Go, and I got the result the following morning and free to go. More people traveling I saw on my layover in Haneda Tokyo and when I arrived in Bangkok than April too. So, lets keep hoping for the best.

For real David, it was a lot of things to prepare for and rather stressful too first time around doing this. The one bonus was being able to travel with having no real big crowds and the plane all to yourself pretty much. However, people are saying that Thailand may be doing away with this supposedly next month or so. So hope you get to travel soon and Thailand can open more to visitors.
