Bangkok Airways - Bangkok to Koh Samui. One of Koh Samui’s newest resorts, Kimpton Kitalay Samui.

Having been to Phuket multiple times already, plus Phi Phi, Krabi, & Khao Lak, we were looking to go to Thailand’s other popular island destination of Koh Samui. Heard great things and saw that they had just opened a new Kimpton property on the island. We were excited to go and see what Koh Samui had to offer and check out one of two new properties that had opened.
We enjoyed our experience with Bangkok Airways to Siem Reap, we were ready to book Bangkok Airways to Koh Samui since Bangkok Airways owns the wonderful airport on Koh Samui and had a lot of choices for flights throughout the day from Bangkok to Koh Samui.
We woke up early but felt we were cutting it close as we had caught the morning traffic of Bangkok when everyone was going to work and school. Luckily, we made it in time to get through security and also traverse the distance plus grab a bus to our scheduled gate
We had a nice quick flight on Bangkok Airways, with a meal provided which is unlike any other airline for such a quick flight of less than 1 hour 30 minutes.
Upon arrival, found Budget Thailand for our van rental. We inspected the vehicle and went through the paperwork, was oriented to the vehicle and were off to check out Koh Samui.
We had time to drive around a bit before we checked in the hotel. We grabbed some coffee and checked out Central Koh Samui, the main outdoor mall with nice landscaping and shops.
After doing some window shopping we made our way to the Kimpton Kitalay Samui, Kimpton’s first hotel in South East Asia. We had Ambassador Status and had 1 free night credit for having the IHG Credit Card by Chase and was upgraded from 1 King Bed Essential Sea View to the 1 King1 Bedroom Suite.
We had a warm welcome by the Kimpton Kitalay staff and oriented to our adjoining rooms. In addition, we received a message in a bottle, a cool bracelet with sand from Koh Samui, and great recommendations for our boat trip the next day to Koh Nang Yuan and Koh Tao.
We went to check out the beach and pool, the weather was a bit cloudy but had some fun regardless. After a nice dinner at a highly rated local Thai Seafood restaurant, we came back tired and ready to sleep after a long day.
The following day we woke up to an excellent breakfast utilizing the IHG app to order our breakfast that was easy for both guests and staff plus more efficient. We then were picked up by a van that took us to the meeting place for our boat trip to Koh Nang Yuan and Koh Tao. The local Thai crew spoke great English and assisted us on a modern boat that handled the big and wavy waters to our destination. Some got sick including one in our party. First stop was Koh Nang Yuan with the nice views and was definitely a busy place. but the trip was worth it to see the clear blue waters and fun swimming to see the fish and marine life. We had a lunch included in a resort that was buffet style but had to eat quickly before the next tour came in. We did one last snorkel session in the waters of Koh Tao before we headed back to Koh Samui. When we arrived back we headed back to the Kimpton Kitalay Samui and picked up our bags from storage and checked out.
