I used Vivvid (mat black carbon ). Love the texture and effect,. however as a noob, I m pretty sure I did something wrong. I did mirrors, shark antenna and handles ... but mirrors have been redid twice and I got same issue : bubbles on edges, and folding!
You should try ordering those big bunches of little rectangle nyidium magnets from temu and then you could use those to get the vinyl to lay down more completely when starting, might speed up the process a bit...just a thought.
Hi, I have a small part , a button about 1.5 Inches across and ROUND. Top looks fine but my sides are a mess all bunched and wrinkled. How do I fold down the sides so they are smooth. Help!
@@TonyLoewen I just placed a order yesterday for Opaque Powder Blue 🔥 I bought two 25” by 10yard rolls do you think that’ll be enough for a whole 09 civic sedan ?
Amazon has vivid black gloss with the air release technology for $350 if you get the 100ftx5t or $329 for only 50ftx5ft I used it on a Tacoma and Hyundai. No complaints the wrap is very forgiving. If you’re a beginner I suggest getting it it’s cheaper than paying $600 for it later on. Also you will mess up and don’t want to order just a little bit just enough
Do you know what post heat vvivid should get? They don't say themselves. And I've seen wildly ranging answers online, all the way to 400f which I doubt
As someone just starting to learn this, is it ok to leave on the clear film for added protection and to pull off later or will that become damaged very quickly to the point of failure and coming off while going down the road?
I’m Super new to this whole wrap thing. And from the professional advice I have received, 3M is the easiest to learn with I hear. Like I said I’m not a professional though and I am just new to this, that’s just going off of the advice I’ve been given. I hear Avery Dennison is a little thick and hard to learn on, but I’ve had no problems learning with it.
Oh I learned AN AWESOME TRICK when I was using contact paper on my counters… If you spray Windex down first and then put the rap on you can slide it into place and then when it dries it still sticks just as well I don’t know why this works it seems like it would ruin the stickiness but it doesn’t and I assume this wrap is the same
When doing screen printing after your board get fuzzy from the hoodies if hit them With winded it wipes off clean And then heat the boards back up and they are sticky like brand new so idk why but it does work
I feel like vivid vinyl sucks when you trim around the hood, doors etc.etc...on the opposite side to leave a bit of vinyl that then you squeegee down...why doesn't it stay down ??? I've been having issues with this....anyone??? I've heated it but still not down....what's the trick with this vinyl
Yes it is guys. The stress it causes is not worth the savings. I used this on my race car because I was being cheep. The 3M is hands down one of the best. 🏁
@tony loewen do you think rapid tack would work against me using this wrap to combat the issues you had or would it help? since its thick and needs some muscle i imagine rapid tack would make it move too easy?? what do you think, should i order?
Yeah that’s a good thing to do when the vinyl your working with doesn’t have air release properties but this and most new cast films are air release and you don’t need to use water.
I tried wrapping with vvivid and every little crease left a permanent crease mark. Is that normal? I don't get how anyone can do this without permanent crease marks all over the place.
yea vvivid is tacky AF..They want you to also buy their tack reducer. and once you pull back up once and it stick a bit its finger city the rest of the panel. went with RapidTac instead and it doesn't help at all much. going back to Avery. even had better luck with Arlon.🤣
Love the gloss compared to Avery. Vvivid still makes me nervous to order in bulk for a complete car. Seems like their adhesive isn't as good? You kind of hit on that in this video too. I haven't used VVivid for a few years, so maybe this new wrap is better?!
@@TonyLoewen I'm not a pro, so I'll probably stick with Avery for now. I wrap my motorcycle parts and did a full car wrap last year. For the car, I used Avery Diamond White Gloss. It's holding up well. Certainly took a lot of time and patience to do it. Your videos are really good. I can see your channel growing big. Keep up the great work.
Yes you should definitely sand with 600 grit (wet sand) to smooth out the surface first though, on panels with no pealing you only need to clay bar the paint, hope this helps!
Great video!!!! How long does it last on the vehicle? What is cost to wrap a 2016 Dodge charger se. In gloss black? Can you use detail spray on the film as maintenance? Thanks /
@@TonyLoewen what do you suggest is the best to worth and quality??? I'm looking to wrap my 2017 GS30 very soon but I'm not sure what brand to go with.
@@TonyLoewen in this instance, when you were laying it would have been beneficial to only do horizontal pulling. Those lines that come from it allow the vynil to fall in with positive tension. Otherwise you have the fingers that you ended up with. You want it as smooth as possible even before the squeegee. And when you do lay it helps to attack the hard lines and high points first which also allow for the vynil to fall in rather than push it across the panel. A little heat could have helped a little to get the right pull and lines initially. Good luck
I absolutely love this color looks amazing. I’m really considering wrapping my 370Z Nismo in this color
How does it look after a year?
Good job dude!! Question... It's very necessary the heat gun to install the vynol?? Greetings from Mexico 🙏😊🤠😁
I’ve been taking the protective film off first, makes it easier to work with
I did my first wrap with 3m and man was it hard. It also didn’t like stretching much or it would discolor.
What series of 3m did you use?
@@TonyLoewen it was “3M 1080 Gloss Cosmic Blue Vinyl Wrap”. Or at least that’s what It said on my receipt.
@@AngelHernandez-ex7ji 3M is best for me so far . 2080 is better and easier and other brands like Avery was harder for me

you have to much tension on the edge of the film make sure the stretch is towards the middle of the film area
youre heating and stretching too much. Thats causing the fingering around the edges
