this is the way i envisioned this should go but the other vids i've seen pull the tape up after 1 cut.. then put the tape back down and manage to get a good cut... or run 3 different lines all freehand and somehow come out with a precision outcome.
Aha - A little heat before and after and I just made my first ever perfect seam ! SO COOL !!! - I'm wrapping an old bike frame which is a nightmarish collection of curves and angles. This elimiates having a small overlap seam that while hidden from normal view - will normally peal at the small overlap edge, pick up dust or dirt, peel back a bit further . . .etc . . . This is so much better ! 😉
Not sure I you ended up your guitar but if you It will more than likely drastically change the tone of the guitar….let me know please I am very curious
I'm confused. You held the camera at a certain angle and you could clearly see the seam. Is that not the case in real life. If I just stand at the right angle I'm gonna see a giant seam... Say if that was running the length of the hood
How would this work you need to stretch the vinyl? I wanna do my helmet two tone. Should i make a overlay or would this work ? If you have any advice ill appreciate ! thanks
You don't want to cut into the car's paint. In this video - the two layers of vinyl match up perfectly in the end - he saves a lot of knifeless tape with this technique as he's using only one pass of knifeless.
Thanks for the video. Only one comment that I thought as a help. If you could speak up a little. I had a hard time hearing you over the background music. Appreciate the video though.
I’ve had some solid results using a laser line level when marking my joint lines , might be worth a shot as they are pretty cheap . However your work looks pretty dang clean so may not do much for ya
why would it shrink if it was never stretched in the first place? I'm just genuinely curious bc none of my seams have raised but I usually overlap them
I don't understand the point of the tape. You're just overlapping the vinyl. I mean, you even pulled up the vinyl after you did the tape and then just placed it back on itself and smooth it out. so what was the point of the tape?
No it won’t if it’s done right. That’s why with seams it’s important to preshrink it with the heat gun for a couple seconds. The film is slightly stretched during the manufacturing process and the heat gun will remove that stretch.
different colors next to eachother, weird angles, i'm wrapping a motorcycle tank and want the curve of the side to be the og color, this allows me to cut the vinyl to shape.
If the tutorial is useless to you and you have no idea what project it would be used on, why did you watch the video in the first place?? I'm curious 🤔
I thought that this would work, but the problem is in just a few months or so with the change of temperature outside, the vinyl compresses and expands naturally making the linear gap between the two sheets more visible.
I'm confused on this process? No video shows a close up view.. How do you line the two (cutting tape) up perfectly? on top of eachother? My fjr1300 is going to be a nightmare..
There is no such thing as a seamless wrap. Even in this video when he did the close up shots at the end you could still see the seam if you're paying attention. The idea is just to get the lines of each side to line up and not overlap. I've never had to lay two pieces of knifeless tape down, only just one. You just have to make sure that you're cut starts correctly and that you don't pull too hard while going across the wrap since you're cutting through two layers of vinyl. Tons of methods, and it just takes time to learn and to feel comfortable doing it.

Thanks for this demo dude, as I am gonna wrap my beautiful 12 string guitar body !
Not sure I you ended up your guitar but if you It will more than likely drastically change the tone of the guitar….let me know please I am very curious
Thank you very much, I have been looking for how to do it for about 3 days because I have a narrower vinyl and I have to overlap
I thought that if there seems in your wraps it means you did a bad job. When would you wrap a panel with seems or any part of the car?
Good work! Wanting to try this technique on some guitars
Man I’m just imagining wrapping the entire car like this…. There would be SOOO many frickin lines all over your car!
Any reason to not use triline?
Only if you don’t have it at the time haha
Is it possible to make perfect seem withought knifeless tape ???
I'm confused. You held the camera at a certain angle and you could clearly see the seam. Is that not the case in real life. If I just stand at the right angle I'm gonna see a giant seam... Say if that was running the length of the hood
gets a video out of it though.
Thanks for the tutorial! My car has a two tone paint color that I want to preserve
What is the lining material you used
How would this work you need to stretch the vinyl?
I wanna do my helmet two tone. Should i make a overlay or would this work ?
If you have any advice ill appreciate ! thanks
If you have to stretch it, there will be a gap over time. I would use an overlay
Simple yet affective
What tape did you use to make that seam and where do you get it
It's called 3M knifeless tape
What sorcery is this?!
OOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH! Crap, I get it now. What a dense log I can be. Thank you Tony.
Is it possible to make seam withought knifeless tape bro ?
depends on your hand... knifeless tape just makes it easier
Cómo se llama ese material
That seam will get bigger over time as the wrap shrinks even preheating out the "shrink" i find it still shrinks over time.
couldn't you do this easier with a layer or maybe two of painters tape and cut it with a razor knife?
You don't want to cut into the car's paint. In this video - the two layers of vinyl match up perfectly in the end - he saves a lot of knifeless tape with this technique as he's using only one pass of knifeless.
that would be harder😅
Thanks for the video. Only one comment that I thought as a help. If you could speak up a little. I had a hard time hearing you over the background music. Appreciate the video though.
Thanks for the suggestion, I plan on getting a mic shortly to fix that problem for future videos.
Hi ,..yes please Tony don’t get a new mic just remove the music 🎵 and use your OUTSIDE ,..voice 😂!! Then get a new mic ! 😆
I gotta get some of tht knife less tape
Thanks for this. Love u
👍😂

What's with the misic
Thankyou so much for this video
What tape was that?
Knifeless
the vinyl will shrink in 2 to 3 days and a gap will appear. All vinyl shrinks dude. Show me that seam in 3 days.
why would it shrink if it was never stretched in the first place? I'm just genuinely curious bc none of my seams have raised but I usually overlap them
Thanks a lot!
Maybe you can tell in person, but watching on TH-cam I cannot see the seem at all. Nice 👍
its magic
That's fucking clean
Thanks boss 👊
@@TonyLoewen 🤙🏼
Thank you
Thanks you
love it
I don't understand the point of the tape. You're just overlapping the vinyl. I mean, you even pulled up the vinyl after you did the tape and then just placed it back on itself and smooth it out. so what was the point of the tape?
It cuts the vinyl exactly where you want to.
It’s a better way of trimming the vinyl precisely without having to do something like cutting on the car.
Well I don’t have that
You can still see it though
The only problem with that is that water can penetrate it and get under the wrap
There's sealers you can use to prevent that like for edges and stuff
1~2 years and vinyl will shrink , made a gap of void
No it won’t if it’s done right. That’s why with seams it’s important to preshrink it with the heat gun for a couple seconds. The film is slightly stretched during the manufacturing process and the heat gun will remove that stretch.
wow cant even tell you had to break
THANK YOU.
This was GREAT.
GREATLY APPRECIATED.
Regards.
No problem. Thank you
I found this to be useless. What project would you use this method on?

@@terry2405 I didn't I cut it off
@@sworley1956 There's your problem. Its all explained at the end.

Interesting
I’ll never understand why people put loud trap music over the top of a video where they are trying to explain something vocally 😵💫
Green is worst color to use for showing in front of camera - remember " green screen" . I cant see it unfortunately.
This guy lol. Just over lap two pieces of knifeless on top of each other. No need to lift the vinyl up
You are right that works too. This is just another method to do it.

Try to speak clearly next time 😊
what the f are you mumbling for.
Not a perfect seam! You can see the line lol
