Might have been answered but can you keep the mhd eca can enabled with multimap and disable the flex fuel box so that you can still get a reading of e from the can sensor? I tried doing that on my stage 2 plus x3m40i and I was getting a lean to rich code and throttle response was very poor until 50 percent throttle and above 2500 RPM. Thanks!
I love watching your videos, I enjoy learning all things B58. In referencing the usual things to do to an engine to gain more "horsepowers", for the B58 most/all of the upgrades are turbo related. What about head porting, larger lift camshaft with more duration, stroker kits (I know there is a stroker kit but its a lot of money to gain 0.2L). What about a deck plate to increase the deck height and make the B58 a 4.0L?
Hey kern! thanks for giving us some more cool info on this. I actually wanted to know if I should be able to use the MHD flexfuel maps using the BM3 flexfuel kit, I prefer the idea of using the lpfp location. If I understood you correctly it should be possible no?
I have a WRX, hoping Cobb makes a Flex Fuel kit again. I technically no need it but then I'd have to have dual tunes and switch back and forth if no e85 available. So most likely I'll wait for a new flex fuel kit. Apparently they're putting R&D into a new one so There's a Sunoco nearby that goes all the way down to e51
Quick question - so lets say I'm tuned for e50 and I have a flex fuel kit installed, in this case, let's say I want to run pump gas (91) do I need to switch maps or will it automatically adjust?
So I’m still very new to this, but I have a gen 2 B58 and Bm3 stage 2 catless. Based off of what I got, it seems that the sweet spot for peak power is e40, but since I do not have any flex fuel hardware or sensors, I’m better off selecting the e40 map, and aim for an e45 mix just to have that extra insurance in octane levels so that timing and peak possible power is there?
Ditch the headaches and get the flex fuel kit.. unless you don't mind sitting at the gas station checking the ethanol content, calculating it and then checking data logs to make sure your timing isn't out of wack.
@@quasimodo9511facts, I’m on my third tank of e30. Sitting the the pump having to test the ethanol percentage at the then sit there and see how much gas I have remaining so I can calculate the mix is a big headache
Question! If i had the flex fuel option tuned (MHD) and I filled up my car with an e40 mix would I make the same amount of power as if I was on a e40 mix flash tune on MHD? Thankyou love the videos.
You stated you cannot run a flex fuel tune without the flex fuel hardware; if I don’t have the hardware am I better off running the straight bm3 stage 2 tune instead of multimap, or is flex fuel just disabled on multimap if the hardware isn’t detected? Thanks as always!
Hi kern, so you mentioned full e85 wasn’t best when on DI, but what I’m going to be running PI and flex fuel to be on full e85 , will e40-e50 still make more power than full e85 on PI? Thinking long term with a hybrid turbo. Thanks !
Thanks for all the info Kern you make this all so much easier. I’m installing the MHD flex fuel kit in the morning along with the TU pump. Iirc you mentioned something about 91 having timing issues with MHD since the maps are based on 93? What would my best option be with only 91 available and e85?
Any solution to know if the tunner is good or not ? Because big companies that have multiple tunning centers, their tunners are away from the garage and they are working at distance. So I guess it's not good for development, but idk
Hi sir, newbie question here but my country (Singapore) does not have E85 or any ethanol pump station. I do however manage to find some VP racing gas and premixed methanol being sold. Would methanol be able to increase the octane rating of my pump gas or is it solely for cooling. Also do I need a separate custom map for when im running methanol or with racing gas? Im just trying to figure out if without ethanol but with racing gas would it enable to me reach those powers as E85 drivers have been enjoying😅 Lastly would there be any advisable way to set up the methanol injection system? I heard a lot about the methanol not being delivered equally to all cylinders if its sprayed at charge pipe. Would there be a way to mount 6 nozzles to the port injection plate to spray into each cylinder individually
race gas and methanol work very well, but yes you will need a custom tune to take advantage of it. race gas can get the same power as ethanol so it's a great option if you have it available. the best way to run methanol is port meth injection. companies like Williams Performance sell port injection spacer plates for meth.
I think you did a mistake with flexfuel on MHD, you have to select the pump gas map and check the flexfuel option. Selecting a mix map or ethanol map is a mistake even if you check flexfuel option.
@@kern417 This is from MHD user guide : "For OTS FlexFuel, you must first ensure you meet the requirements below. Next, you will want to select and config a MultiMap tune (see details in section above). For FlexFuel, you should not select an ethanol map in any map slot, as the ethanol blending is handled automatically with our code."
Would it be possible to just use the flex fuel sensor as a guide to see the level of ethanol content in your tank without measuring it out and just using a tune set for e30 or e40 without leaving any power on the table?
So I still have to select the proper map if custom tuned? I have my custom tune as ACN 91 (slot 1), Full e-85 (slot 2), and stock (slot 3). If the bm3 flex fuel kit detects over 80% it wont switch to map slot 2 on its own?
So If I understand correctly on a pure Power generation point of view. If you are certain of your mix let's say E40, you better run with the OTS E40 map and not MultiMap. Put it simple the Flexfuel sensor kit is useless if you are certain of your mix?
How are you able to run full e85 on the mhd flex fuel kit ? I know you need port injection, but does the mhd flex support full e85 or what I hear need Motiv Re|Flex+ to run full e85 with port injection.
Ethanol is not linear, also full 85 needs really high flow fuel injectors and really high flowing pumps and will be a lot more powerful than gasoline. This video is not accurate.

@@kern417 hey, I was told by BM3 not to run ACN91 or any 91 for that matter on the multimap, as the lowest boost and timing settings are calibrated for 93 and 91 isn't within the safety margin that the map was made for. They told me to flash back to ACN91 stage 2 should I need to run non-93 pump gas.
