    Damn man I love your videos! I learn so much from them. You actually helped me with recognizing a throttle closure by looking at one of my logs. Scary feeling when you have no idea what it is or why it happened but now it makes a lot more sense! 👍🏽👍🏽

    Hey, just found your channel and the way you structure and deliver information is great; extremely helpful! What is your preferred software and hardware for data logging? I bought a 2018 440i with MPPSK recently with around 70k km (45k miles). Yesterday I had a situation where power was cut significantly around 5,500 rpm at wot; from there the power would increase a bit before dropping off repeatedly as the tach climbed upward from 5.5k to 7k rpm like the fuel is being cutoff. The car is not backfiring or running roughly, and there is no hint of anything being wrong when operating below 5k rpm. I left the car overnight, and this morning the issue was still happening but not nearly as pronounced. I think this may be exasperated by ambient temp as yesterday the temp outside when the issues began was over 30C (90F) and this morning the outside temp was 17C (63F). I believe the car does not have an aftermarket tune and only has the BMW's MPPSK tune, but cannot be sure as I bought it used, and I know the previous owner did some coding in the car as it remembers my auto start/stop settings from my last drive rather than defaulting to on when I start the car. Hoping this is something simple like a bad o2 sensor, but I need to run logs so I can narrow down the fault before throwing any parts at it. I do have a veepeak Bluetooth/wifi obd2 adapter for my phone, so I am hoping to use that to run the logs, but if it doesn't have enough bandwidth to pull enough relevant info, I'll buy better hardware. Was just hoping to get your opinion before I start throwing money at the car.

  • @suspect3539
    @suspect3539 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great explanation.
    Would running a piggyback like a JB4 then completely eat up safety margins? If I understand piggybacks correctly, they basically just modify what the DME sees for the actuals which causes compensation in the form of higher boost/fuel/timing...correct? E85 isn't impossible to find here, but it's a bit of a pain to get (~25mi drive to the nearest station with it), so I was thinking going the WMI route at some point, but that comes with it's own set of problems.

    I'm about to upgrade my downpipe to sport one (300CEL, and from what the manufacturer says - that not throwing a CEL). What I read, it has positive impact on EGT.. So am I correct to measure those 2 lambdas in the downpipe (before and after cat)? But how can I read the temp. instead of AFR? What other params you suggest to measure before and after downpipe upgrade? Thank you Sir!

    @kern417
    Concerning STFT/LTFT:
    Why is there in general a deviation from the baseline fuel mapping (up to +/-10%)? In my case, my B58 first starts at around +10% at 3,000rpm and decrease until -3% towards redline (STFT). LTFT is 0,45. That doesn't fit in my eyes, but it was all the last months like this. I would have expected 0 for the whole rev range, because the baseline should be coded like the real demand along the full rev range.

    Hey, I live in NYC, can't really find a place to hit that kinda speed. I did however do a few 3rd gear pulls to redline with a shift to 4th for a short time at WOT. Any chance anyone would be willing to take a look at a log? I don't see a lot of things talked about here in datazapme. I have MHD stage 2+ running 95 in these logs.

    Is accel. pedal% and throttle angle% supposed to be close together? If not, I think I've found what's causing this "miss" feeling I'm having. Sometimes the throttle angle jumps up to 99% when I'm at 45% on the accelerator, sometimes it dips way down while the accelerator % is a flat line. Started doing it after I installed RaceChip and hasn't gone away after removing it. Currently running BM3 stage 1 93oct. Anybody ever see something like this?

    • @kern417
      @kern417  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      it's all based on the tune's throttle mapping, and unfortunately no tune has throttle mapping as well-defined as the stock tune. if you want it to be linear then you'll need a custom tune from a tuner that can put more time into dialing it in.
