Trick taking games are my absolute favorite. I just found you over in BGG, and now I've subscribed. I've seen a handful of your videos so far, but none of the games are available. I've had Nikosu Dice in my list forever! I was about to give up on it. My favorite is played with a regular deck. It's a variant of Barbu, called Trix. For mainstream, we love Skull King, VooDoo Prince, Texas Showdown and I've been trying to get Indulgence to the table. I know I'll love that one.

The Crew Mission Deep Sea is not only my favorite Trick Taker, but is in the running for my favorite game period.

My favourite trick taker at the moment is The Crew because I have never really grokked all of the elements and this is doing a great job of teaching me the trics (ha!) of the trade. I'm sure I will branch out when my kung fu training is completed.

@@ClaudeAndTaylor Grok is current among the psychonauts too. I just learned the Italian tarot trick taking game. It was enjoyable having such overdosed cards with bigger hands. Still not fully sure of the scoring, but I’ll get it.
Our family favorite is probably Skull King... Although, not to sound conceited, I really like a couple of trick taking games that I'm designing that I hope to get you to play one day. :)

Since there's usually only me and my fiancee, we play a lot of Fox in the Forest Duet/The Crew. The one I have the most memories with is Diamonds. I went to a tournament at GenCon and did okay!
Oh wharrad choices at 2! And that is hilarious! I did a Skull King tournament at GenCon and what a rad way to dive into a game! Hope the Diamonds one was fun!!

Fox in the Forest since I normally play 2-player games with my wife. I think I like trick-takers more than most people I know. Sadly.

It is really hard to label a favorite. But probably tichu. Had so many game night end with this.

My favorite at the moment Skull King! I played for the first time in a tournament at Dice Tower West and have been hooked ever since. We always have at least one or two really memorable moments every game.

Indulgence is my favorite trick taker. I love going for all the tricks and this game does it so well.

That is an amazing question! I think around 350? I have too loose of a system over here haha! There's a fair amount of small ones from Japan that I've not tracked well, but I should count them soon and get a more solid number. Great question, cheers!

Haven't played enough trick-takers (sadly) to know for sure my favorite, but my favorite that's using a standard deck of cards is called Trix (or Trex) and I love it so much. The hook for it is: there's five contracts and each player (as dealer) has to pick each of them once by the end of the game, in any order they like, and each contract is a different type of game with the last one being a weird (but fun) game of building up/down from Jacks of each suit. (The other ones are things like trying to not take the King of Hearts or trying to avoid Diamonds.) There's also a lot of variant rules for it. Really fun 4-player trick-taking game.
This game looks really interesting. I like the idea of making players not only consider trying to avoid a curse, but also having ways to negate the drawbacks they gained and get it on another player. Having lowest in suit mean something is cool. Seems really fun. The art is stellar, too.

Woahhh, I've never heard of Trix! Thanks for the heads up! I've heard of variants like Couffier Jass and Mizerka, but Trix sounds like it has some rad ones!
I might've been just imagining it, maybe it's just fun to have agency, but it felt like you could make interesting decisions on when you do the last shedding contract or pick when to do ones you usually fail at or feel confident in. It's also kinda cool as you get towards the end and know which ones are left.
This one seems pretty cool!

Trick taking is one of my favourite genre of games but my favourites are easily The Crew, Skull King, and Voodoo Prince. My favourite ladder climbing games are SCOUT and Ladder 29 :)

I generally don't like co-ops, but The Crew is probably my favorite trick takers solely because my parents love playing it.

Favorite trick taker I guess depends on the group. Jekyll vs Hyde for 2p, The Crew MDS for co-op, and Ghosts of Christmas for competition.

My top 4 (in order) are Nokosu Dice, Skull King and The Crew: The Quest for Planet Nine, and The Crew: Mission Deep Sea. My friends absolutely love Skull King and I get it to the table quite often.

I really liked the risk of getting tricks and avoiding curses but I won't recommend to play this game with 3 players (I want to try keeping 4 suits and remove some ranks in this player count)
