    Thanks for the mention. We've got an iPhone 5c in the family which is showing a similar issue. I'm not sure if it's the BMS rather than the cell itself. Often it's the BMS which fails in laptop batteries, cutting the cells off too early - good news for those of us who are recycling them though!

      @GadgetAddict  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe just give it a punt and order a cheap replacement battery on eBay. You might get lucky and find it's just the cell instead of the BMS. I paid the equivalent of 9 GBP for mine and it was working perfectly before the big drop happened.

    While this isnt exactly my problem, you let me know there are contacts under the battery for me to use, which I connected wires to for my battery for it wouldnt charge through the phone regular circuit. Thanks lad.

      @Juggernaut Productions Great Video! Apologies for the intrusion, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you tried - Lammywalness Trendy Trade Guide (search on google)? It is a good exclusive guide for learning how to recondition batteries at home without the headache. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my friend Sam at very last got cool results with it.

It is a great one off guide for learning how to recondition batteries at home minus the headache. Ive heard some super things about it and my buddy after many years got great success with it.

    Think its the drop that killed it. 3 months back, I drop my IPhone 6 really hard and have the same problem as you. My phone died when its 70% and even at 80%, if I do something intensive, it will shut down. The battery is toasted. What's really bad was when I when to my local telco to get a new phone and trade-in the iPhone 6, it died on me on the spot when I'm doing a factory reset. The battery was at 95% and can't start without connecting it to a power source.

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yikes. yours sounds even worse than mine. But yeah, I agree, it was probably the drop that damaged it. I'll just replace it again :P

    what application did you use to check the voltage?

  • @surgingcircuits6955
    @surgingcircuits6955 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would have put the battery under a dummy load to determine it's capacity status, and see if it failed under normal load - all to decide if there are iPhone issues or battery issues. Thx for the video. Would have also liked to see you open the phone to access the battery.

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah that would make sense. At this point I'm pretty sure the battery is busted and will replace it once my preferred online shop has stock.

    Good video man. I have the same problem with my MacBook Air, it will shut down at around 60% so I just always leave the charger attached these days. If I unplug it from the charger it will only work for around 10 minutes. Any suggestions I could try or would you say new battery is in order?

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can try reset the SMC & PRAM (a quick google search) but chances are that yes, you'll need to replace the battery. Due to the size of the battery, it's much more expensive than the iPhone battery. Anywhere from 2-4k PHP.

    • @ChristopherLane
      @ChristopherLane 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the input. Any recommendations as to where I could get a decent battery or would an Apple store be the best bet?

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'd probably look on Lazada or eBay. But first, check tutorials for your specific Macbook and check how easy or difficult it is. From what I've seen, it looks fairly easy. If you take it to the store, they'll send it off to an Apple authorized repair center but it will likely cost a lot more than doing it yourself. I've also found genuine Apple repairs in the PH to be quoted much higher than other countries.

    By the way, is it possible to recover the photos from an iphone that has a dead battery symptom?

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it's just a dead battery then you should be able to replace it and recover your photos and even continue using the phone. But otherwise no luck, you can't get an iPhone to turn on without a working battery inside.

    Which Version of IOS are you running right now? im trying to research if battery drops like that may have either - a.) something to do with the recent IOS updates causing different issues on the battery? or b.) your battery is going to die soon
    I had a similar issue with a 5c before that would just turn off when it was 10% or 30% but when you plugged it back it it give off a different number. Eventually i had the battery replaced all everything is back to normal - and that running ios 9
    now i have a 6 plus - recent upgrade to ios 10.2 i noticed that once it gets down to 10% the battery reading will randomly drop or go down real fast. I read online that ios 10.2 had problems with battery, so waiting for some feedback on the recent 10.2.1 roll out.
    But chances are looks like your battery needs to be replaced basing its symptoms from my 5c experience.

    If your iphone isnt charging the battery there is high probability the charging chip on the mainboard gone bad. It is a common issue. Can be repaired with microsoldering.

    4.16 is almost 100%. Which is why those chargers are refusing to charge further.

    Lithium-ion and Lithium-Polymer based batteries have an average of 1000 plus charges, its advisible to NOT fully discharge your phone for it will easily kill the lithium cells inside the battery. But if you discharge it to 40% then top it up to 80 or 90 percent then it will make your phone battery last longer, only fully discharge it an recharge it back to 100% once a month, for a healthy battery :)

    I know this is an old video, but I was trying to charge an old battery I had as you showed here, and I accidentally touched the positive terminal with metal causing a short flame and a little bit of smoke. Is this battery now dangerous or destroyed? Nothing happened after, smoked for a second
