BlackBerrys downfall was it’s hardcore fan base the “crackberry” users, who kept demanding that blackberry sticks to its outdated hardware and software design and the executives stupid enough to listen to them and mock iPhones for being toys. I used to love my blackberry but as soon as the first iPhone was launched and got my hands on one it was clear as day that BB would be in the mud if they didn’t change, which they didn’t until it was way too late-2013.
I've had a Key2 or over 4 years and it's an amazing phone. I bought a 2nd one 6 months later and it sits inside an unopened box because there is no other phone I consider better.
I scored one recently from China!! Was so excited, really!!! I LOVE my blackberry, especially the raised keyboard. Camera not so much! My kids are so appalled!!

I miss my Blackberries. My first was for work. Loved it. And since I hated Apple's too-cool-for-school marketing, I used them for my personal cell when I switched from flip-phone to smart-phone. Plus, the data plan was way less for the Blackberry for whatever reason. To this day, I miss the physical keyboard because I fat-finger all the time on my Androids.
Times changed, not just the phones. BlackBerries were known as businessmen's phones, with doc programs and email. Most phones now have that, and so many people just text rather than email. BlackBerry 10 was an elegant OS but is sadly a thing of the past.
A lot of people are forgetting that this company was the foundations for apple and Samsung. So sad BB went broke. As they solid built/quality devices. Remember when they all included cases etc. miss the BB era as no other phone of the time beat it.
I use a Key2 from the past almost 4 years, still working great, battery still last all day in full use, I just hope BlackBerry would come back with new phones.

One of my most missed phones was my BlackBerry Bold 9700. I managed to buy new housing for it and made it green and white. Traded it in for an HTC One if I remember correctly. Kinda regret it. Was super cool and easy to take apart to replace the screen.
I had a blackberry 9330, even when the battery was super low like 5% , I had a call with my friend for 2 hours. Once the call got disconnected , the phone showed warning and switched off. The best phone I have used so far , out of 8 phones.
Daily'd between a Priv and a key1 until just a couple months ago, when I finally got a pixel 6a. Key2 for me looked and felt worse than the k1 so I didn't kept it
I had the chance to work for this company when it was known internally as Research In Motion. Or RIM. I did support for the company. And joined when it hit its peak and was let go about a few years later the entire office where I was, was laid off. That’s over 700 of office just walked out, all hardware collected offices dismantled and the space sold off as they were in survival mode. This was way back when the dual CEO’s didn’t see the iPhone as a threat. Everyone was laughing at the phone till they weren’t laughing any more. The interesting part of all this is that blackberry somehow pulled through. As a reinvented company and nothing like it used to be. But a much MUCH smaller company than it used to be. It’s just that now they are a software only company working with businesses and out of the general public. Good times! At least I get to say i once worked for the company that pioneered smart phones before they were mainstream. And also got to see how the empire was torn down but many many bad decisions. 👍
Both my wife and I use the KeyONE 4 GB RAM Edition as our daily driver. The Key2's price never fell and it is hardly different from the KeyONE. Recently got the Samsung Note 9 with its nice stylus features, but the KeyONE is still master when it comes to typing a lot of text.
Don't know why but though I never used a blackberry phone, i still have some love for it than any other brand and hope that some time in future blackberry shines as it shined in its prime time

when the Key2 came out, I brought one to replace my KeyOne - and sold it within 24 hours. The Key2 buttons just felt wrong, they just bottomed out after they 'clicked'. Not everyone liked the glossy KeyOne keyboard however.(Except me)

They waited until 2013 to make a serious change with their blackberry 10 OS. That was 6 years after the first iPhone and 5 after the first android. By then it was too late and so much market share was taken up by the big 2. If they took apple and google more seriously years earlier they’d probably had still been around, thriving, and still had a good chunk of the market share today.

Maybe some of you never experienced it but the sound quality on these phones were quite good! Head/earphones were also good. (way better than the crap other phonemakers used to ship in the boxes)

It’s interesting that almost no one knows BlackBerry the company is actually still around, and at the same time a lot of those same people are using BlackBerry products every day without knowing it. BB shifted to developing the software used in modern vehicle infotainment systems and nearly have a monopoly on that market. So If you have a car made in the last decade, you’re (literally) daily driving a BlackBerry.

Was the best phone I ever had except the battery was sooo weak and the usb charging slot stopped working and I had to jiggle the wire to get a charge...I wasn't a fan using the keyboard as a mouse either...blackberry needed to hire a fan instead of yes men to do feed back keyboard finger print was cool but I never used it it ended up stop working and I had to double press the spacebar to make a space

Instead of buying BB phones people should look into BB stocks that are at 20 year lows and many hedge funds seem to be getting in. I feel there is an accumulation going on because their price to sales ratio is just at 2.07 now. Which is extremely cheap. The reason the stocks dipped so low is because BB decided to raise 194million in cash to pay for maturing notes with fresh notes at 3% interest. BB seems to be big into Software Defined Vehicles with their Blackberry IVY, Blackberry Sound and QNX software and Hypervisor. AWS seems to be a major partner on the QNX. At 1.67billion market cap it is only a matter of time before someone buys them outright.

There's two options; Unihertz which had released three phones with QWERTY keyboards, and there's the The Minimal Phone.

The LE version of the Key 2 came later but it was a cheaper cut down model of the regular Key 2 iirc.

Instead of buying BB phones people should look into BB stocks that are at 20 year lows and many hedge funds seem to be getting in. I feel there is an accumulation going on because their price to sales ratio is just at 2.07 now. Which is extremely cheap. The reason the stocks dipped so low is because BB decided to raise 194million in cash to pay for maturing notes with fresh notes at 3% interest. BB seems to be big into Software Defined Vehicles with their Blackberry IVY, Blackberry Sound and QNX software and Hypervisor. AWS seems to be a major partner on the QNX. At 1.67billion market cap it is only a matter of time before someone buys them outright.
