Launtel is good but expensive. Also you breached the affiliate code you need to advise in your video you get a $25 kick back from Launtel on your account.
They intentioally increased their prices after the free upgrade anouncemnt, dispicable its already overpiced so much in australia.
nah, like many utlity providers(electricity, NBN) they have a consumer price index (CPI) and review prices every financial year. Telstra publically advises that prices change every 1st July on their products.. No one else really does but they just do press releases like this.
@TechManPat + @TimTams_64
As of 05/03/2024, NBN have officially stated on their website that Wholesale Download Speeds for upper NBN FTTP + HFC tiers will increase at no extra wholesale cost to retailers (RSP/ISP), due to an increase in data downloaded by end-users expected to double every five years, and that clearly coincides with NBN reducing wholesale prices for Home SuperFast + UltraFast tiers etc.
NBN Home Fast: 100/20Mbps to 500/50Mbps
NBN Home SuperFast: 250/25Mbps to 750/50Mbp
NBN Home UltraFast: 500-1000/50Mbps to 750-1000/50-100Mbps.
(Note: Tier speeds can differ per RSP/ISP and during peak hours - Increases also dependant on FTTP or HFC etc)
@@DownUnderAUS Yeah so xplain why consumer plan prices increased by a much as $10-20 on Ultrafast plans a speed that was already being upgraded for free. theory numbers from NBN dont apply to reality if thers no code enforcement.
@@TimTams_64
You are obviously unaware that any terms for Wholesale Pricing and/or Tariffs set by NBN Co. is regulated/approved by the ACCC; so, it’s not just all theory by NBN Co, as their wholesale pricing is planned three years in advance; similar to what you see with an enterprise agreement setting wages for employees etc.
Wholesale Pricing by NBN Co. is also exclusive of GST, and RSP/ISPs can independently set their own Retail Pricing depending on what services they offer; therefore, any retail prices including GST can be increased at the prerogative of any RSP/ISP; of which, you generally see Telstra charging exorbitant prices above other service providers (RSP/ISPs) for any plans/services they offer for connecting via NBN.
We can only wait and see what happens, tbh, as NBN wholesale prices are also based on fiscal outlooks depending on factors including economic inflation and any unforeseen costs for maintaining/replacing network hardware or cabling etc.
Part of the issue is that in regional and rural areas the NBN is worse than a dog’s breakfast- I moved to Tenterfield NSW and after finding out how any individuals were switching from NBN based services to Starlink I did my research and went that way- yes it’s expensive but my speeds are amazing and the three heavy internet users in the household experience *zero* issues while streaming, gaming and uploading. There’s also zero issues with tech, having to wrangle with crappy service and tech support and it has THE easiest connection process I’ve ever experienced.
err, prices went up 6months ago. Have people forgotten that?
Can you do a video on comparing fixed wireless nbn
I changed ISP to 'Launtel' from one of those big telco's a few years ago. There is no way I'll be shifting.
love the ending song
Yeah it’s great, Shazam couldn’t identify it
too long.
Where's my blazing trail
where to find it
Can't get the speeds much past 25 down in my area but NBN think raising the price means I should pay more for speeds not reachable on the copper curb farce.
Far too expensive for poor people, low income people. Disgraceful upload speeds.
I left the NBN because TPG were offering a discount on 4G wireless. I pay $49.99/month for unlimited downloads. Speed is slow, 20Mbps download but fine for me. The downside is i lost my landline.
But i have this cute modem rather than an ugly NBN box drilled through my wall
Why is a retail 25/5 plan not substantially cheaper then.
Know plenty of people ditching the NBN for 5G wireless.
If you aren't a big video user, thats generally enough data.
(Also know a few households sharing one larger plan)
Thanks for your good information as soon as it releases, keep it up man we are here to support you my friend
@TechManPat If not already released, please ask the creator(s) of that outro song to release it. It's fire!
If already released, please link it for us :)
I get 50/20 with Exetel with the magic speed boost button allowing 24 hrs at the next speed teer for no charge , my line can to about 80 down, so i stay on 50/20
What is going on with 000 call being changed to all carriers? Doesn't the government pay for this?
Think it's also worth noting that the cost of the fibre upgrades going on is expensive, Especially in regional areas where pit and pipe infra may be damaged or non existant, the cost of civil works is not cheap..
In my area in regional Victoria there have been many nbn contractors working for weeks, replacing pits and clearing blocked conduit or replacing it.
Having said that for sure price increases in the current financial climate isn't good at all.
It's to make those of us not on NBN to pay for infra structure, ridiculously greedy.
The infrastructure was payed for, but it never went for infrastructure (well not much of it).
I just looked at changing from 50/20 to the 100/20 plan with iinet and it was going to cost an extra $30 per month according to them
looks like skynet is the way to go here in Australia
The exact same plan with Aussie is only .71 cents more expensive per month so where’s the value in switching? I get great customer service, speeds are fine, far fewer dropouts than I’ve had with Optus or whoever the other service provider I used for a while was, in fact my literal only issue has been the two times I’ve had a self inflicted issue at a stupid time of night and had to wait until the next day to get hold of tech support.
So what’s their value add if it isn’t price?
it's sad to know that 'other countries charge far less and provide far better service and MBPS, I've changed providers twice recently, had tech's out multible times as the net still drops out several times a day and at $69/mth what do ya do...
I guess it makes sense. It needs to fix up the whole pricing vs speeds, and this is a good step. As the more people on faster plans, the price should decrease. Although the current circumstances make it difficult.
Mo, more people, cheaper/more profit
Meanwhile in New Zealand 300/300 retails for $60 AUD per month...
I ditched nbn because of its cost, happily using 4g Internet from data sharing sim with my mobile plan, 100gb a month at 4g speeds then slows to 1.5Mbps which still allows streaming of 720p. So really its one less bill for me now.
So they are no rising the price for the new speeds but they are now rising the price
Smart QoS should be included in any modem router on a speed below 250 down.
I would suggest it's necessary at any speed! A local stream library mirror can absolutely smash entire connections with ease.
Yeah, beginning April all the vpn's put all their plan prices up. Was cheaper optus, voda, and amaysim ,dodo, you name it all jacked their prices up and data quantity down.
Thanks for the update Pat, although I am on 100/40 plan which wasnt priced. All RSP's now add $5 extra charge per month to move from CGNAT to Static IP. Static needed for port forwarding to work. More cost!.
To be clear, port forwarding works regardless of if you have a static IP or dynamic (changing) IP address, but to have it permanently work (aka never need to check your public IP address), yes you need a public IP address, or a dynamic DNS service. CGNAT won’t work if you need port forwarding unless you have, again, a domain or VPN that effectively tunnels into your home network.
@@ViscusTH-cam I shifted rsp and had noip dns setup to the cgnet public port and was never sble to find my home server. Reason being 1 IP on Cgnat services many clients. Once I got fixed ip I could get into my home system via noip
@@ViscusTH-cam port forwarding does not work on CGNAT, as you share your public IP with several other customers. however most providers are able to "opt-out" of CGNAT, where you are assigned a dynamic (probably "sticky") IP for no extra cost, the $5 is only for a static IP
@@gooseythelucy I was making the distinction that a public IP address is not necessarily static, not that CGNAT is the same as having a public IP address
@@gooseythelucy I edited it as my wording was crap 😂
I pay $100/mth for a pissy 50/20 plan with Telstra! WTF?? A bit over a year ago I was paying $80/mth to them for 100/20 and before that 100/40. Most exxy in the world, needs a royal commission IMHO.
Can someone explain to me on why Exetel is increasing my 50/20 from $55.55 to $79.99 which is an increase of 44%? I thought the increase for the 50/20 speeds was approximately 4.1%. I am on a fixed cap of 500GB per month. This feels like price gouging.
Can't even get 50 on my line and it drops out every so often
Australia the unlucky country, the poorest or people on the lowest plan are hammered with the highest percentage increase
What power give the right to nbn co to do this whenever they want?
70% of the network can't support greater than 50... Keep the $5 unless you have fibre to the house
3:34 I feel this...
They should retire the 12/1 data plan altogether. I was in Europe last year and was shocked at how cheap their 1Gbps symetrical plans were. We're talking 10 -20 euro per month depending on the country. They had fibre running to farms in the middle of no where in 3rd world countries for god sake.
500,000,000 population
Vs
27,000,000
In more or less the same land area
@@myne00 What is your point? Most of the population is concentrated in the top 4 cities in Australia. Like I said 1Gbps fibre is available in remote areas with very little population when I viisted a 3rd world country in the EU last year.
1000/400 incoming for me when it gets it price discounted
Just more greed.. how about we get the speeds we pay for first!!
I know the upload speeds on the NBN network are just Abysmal especially the amount of money Australians pay compared to other countries. The 100 down should at least have 30 up.
It should have 100 up. We should have 50/50, 100/100, 250/250, 500/500, 750/750 and 1000/1000
Since Tony got in and fixed the GFC, my earning power crashed and, as I am now the carer for my 85+ year old parents, it made that even harder.
I am on the 25 down speed as that is the limit that I can pay for.
Let me guess, the prices had to rise to pay for "The Upgrades" that have to happen to get it up to what it should have been. After this upgrade the next upgrade will only be to "extenals" eg upgraded modems that will be so much less costly.
5g wireless will be the end of NBN, which has not got a good track record as far as downtime goes
We need to petition the NBN to make upload speed 'best effort'. I am sick of the artificially restricted upload speeds.
Leaptel and Launtel offer very high upload speeds, but not enough consumers care enough, those that do want faster uploads are switching to the 2 telcos I just mentioned.
@Tech Man Pat /So what company are the's plains from ,sorry in live in Victoria Wodonga\ Albury ??
Iinet plans are a shocker 12/0.8 $59.99 for 6m then up to $69.99/m. Even for a just a phone service.
We were warned this would happen...
When are we going to get proper *Upload* speeds. Is Australia the only country in the universe that has such pathetic up speed?
Not while that arse hole Stephen Rue is boss, but he will be leaving NBN to work for Optus, hopefully after November 2024, we will see a newly improved NBN?
Leaptel just went from $75 to $80 a month for 50/20, it's still one of the cheapest options for great international pings, so I will stay.
Launtel is a great ISP but I'd rather pay $80 a month for 50/20 than $95 a month for 100/20 with Launtel.
At what tier plan do they require for getting connected to FttP? Is it the 100/20 plan?
yepp 100 down
what is the song at the end?
Made it via AI for fun
@@TechManPat the song pretty much describes the how the NBN is
@@TechManPatPlease list the lyrics 👍
With Launtel, how do you do it without a modem, do you have to supply your own?
They can supply you with one, or byo
is there a flipping router on the market that isn't (doesn't have) wifi, and that is under $200?
Plenty under that price but would you want it without wifi and worst case you can just turn it off
@@shaynegadsden I don't use wifi, have no need for it (it has long 1970's, been known to be bad for your health), you can't turn it off unless it has a hard off switch.
@@R0d_1984 every router i have owned has the option to turn the wifi off which disables the radios, as for health i don't care people live too long and those later years seem more like misery than enjoying being alive so i'm quite shave off a few to enjoy things more now
Is that ending song AI generated? 🤔sounds like something out of UDIO or Suno
Which isp are selling 250/100?
Aussie broadband and launtel
I think if ISP's actually told us the margin they get after they pay their wholesale price people would be less pi$$ed off when prices go up. I know if I understand why rather than "because f u, thats why " which is more or less what we get now, I would be a bit less inclined to give the middle finger to whoever is trying to fleece me.
oh jeez my bowels do not like that AI music outros are becoming a thing, that makes me physically ill in a way nothing nontangible ever has
You are too kind to the RSPs. They are like fuel stations and all Australia's retailers of essential services - claiming almost no margin while making bucketloads of money.
What a joke just ripping us off
FYI: Consumers deal with ISP. Not NBN. These prices mean squat to consumers
Yes
But it's indicative of what the ISP's may increase their prices by yet again !!!!
This is infuriating, 1st Who is making this 'Data' that you can't see or touch, 2ndly why can't we buy this Data on the black market, buy a shit ton of Data that fell off of the back of a truck for cheap Thanks T M P.. 😡
Time to boicot
