    This reminds me of my High School days back in the 80s before we had cable tv. They would show some videos on non cable TV like this one late on Friday nights, smoking some very marginal weed with friends. I live a clean sober Christian life now but I miss those simpler times and friends.

      Heh, '66 Thunderbird driver here! Sky blue, convertible with the 428 and absolutely loaded with AC, power everything, and even tilt steering! It was the only thing my father left me and I still have it today! Of course, I had to have a modern sound system VERY carefully installed and this song is on my 80's mix CD. Drastic Measures was a great album!
      Great memories from a time when I didn't have to keep an effing gun on me at all times!!

      The start of gig the classical musicians came out onstage and started tuning up,
      (See 'Drastic Measures' album cover) then a musician came out and sat right in the middle of the group, reached down and picked his instrument up off the ground...it was a bazooka! He blew it up into the sky scattering all the other musicians off stage & scarring most of the crowd. That's when Kansas launched into their set!

    I thought the opening guitar riff to this song was the coolest ever when I first heard it back in the '80's. I still dig it. Kansas in prog mode will always be my favorite, though the band has never laid down a single song to tape that merits being ashamed. Whether the '74 - '80 "classic" years... the '82 - '88 "radio friendly" years... or the '90's to modern era of the band: Kansas has every reason to hold their head high. Fight Fire With Fire!

The melody and rhythm are so synchrinous and powerful that I've played it on repeat with headphones for 2 hours straight while working. Really takes me to a good place!

    There's a hole in the wall
    With a light shining in
    And it's letting me know to get up
    It's time to begin
    Oh there is nothing to lose
    'Cause it's already lost
    In a runaway world
    Of confusion
    I'm gonna take it
    That's why I fight fire with fire
    Oh I'm burning inside and my heart is a-cryin'
    Fire with fire
    I don't want to lose this flamin' desire
    Standing alone
    In a crowded room
    I can feel a chill in the air
    I'm shakin'
    I'm miles away
    I want to cry out loud
    I want to fight till the end
    I won't let 'em take me alive
    That's why I fight fire with fire
    Oh I'm burning inside and my heart is a-cryin'
    Fire with fire
    I don't want to lose this flamin' desire
    Standing alone
    In a crowded room

      As a CHRISTIAN I forbid myself from regrets. But I do know had I been a Warrior for CHRIST not a new believer I had an invitation to go meet Cary livgren
      This was one of last “secular “ songs Kansas made before obeying call to CHRISTIAN music
      It is “undeniable “ they sang from their realization all human beings are stalked br zsatan and his weaker followers like zsata all once were in perfect Heaven but became arrogant and hated GOD and tried to kill God the obedient angels destroy This Heaven and ‘create better place for him and his followers
      Their war on GOD FAILED AND having invested their perfection and fellowship with their very Creator no sacrifice by the demons or repenting was neither desired nor POSSIBLE
      But Jesus Christ defeated him and was adequate sacrifice to bridge sinful seduced by satan wholly void 3:46 of followers 3:46 3:46 3:46 satan and legions of followers

      @@dansaunders52 At least John Elefante‘s voice at present is still strong and outstanding. His voice has stood up to Father Time very well. Always loved Steve Walsh and his presence with Kansas, but his voice , sadly, is now gone. Prayers go out to the Steinhardt’s on Robby’s recent passing.

      The reason is that the current members of the band and some, if not most of their fans, seem to like to 'forget' the Elefante era of the band. Drastic Measures and Vinyl Confessions are often maligned due to it not having the signature 'Kansas sound'. Personally I LOVE it but they are quite a few who don't. :)

      Tungus Grump Well, were they not albums that didn't have Steve Walsh on them? I mean, being such a Walsh fan, if he's not on it, i'm not really interested. Not that these albums aren't great and they have some great stuff there, I just think he is such a draw for me. JMHO.....

    • @Vyselink
      @Vyselink 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rich Green
      Well you can blame Livgren for that. He became a born-again and decided he wanted his faith to shine through more in the band, so Walsh left.

    • @RICHGREENNOW
      @RICHGREENNOW 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Vyselink And I don't for a minute blame him. But Steve always loved the guy and admired him for his talent, they worked well together, and they overcame their differences over the years and are good friends today. It's funny, I have played with a ton of musicians and have had a few lose a propeller and go off to the religious side. I ended up playing some studio parts then played with a high production outfit. Then went live. That shit is actually well produced and musically powerful. I'm not a religious folk, but I would do it again. Peace brother!

    • @fligemon
      @fligemon 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Rich........Thanks for the commentary. I always thought that the Steve/Kerry thing was not about being Born Again or not, rather the musical output of the band itself and their different visions. True Christians never express hostility to those who have not accepted our Lord. Evangelism is sharing the good news of the salvation that is available through Jesus Christ. Unlike Judaism and Islam, Christians believe that there are many ways to share that good news with those who are willing to listen.
