That because Rich Williams is one of the BEST rhythm guitarists ever. It's through all the Kansas catalog. This song just punches you with it for 4 minutes.
Definitely one of the best, but Journey is better. Their songs are still played today and I have yet to meet anyone from all different ages who doesn't know who Journey is.

Fight Fire With Fire Is A Great Straight Up Killer Kick-Ass Song By KANSAS And Totally Rocks It Needs To Be Fully Cranked Up All The Way To Full Maximum Volume.
The start of gig the classical musicians came out onstage and started tuning up, (See 'Drastic Measures' album cover) then a musician came out and sat right in the middle of the group, reached down and picked his instrument up off the ground...it was a bazooka! He blew it up into the sky scattering all the other musicians off stage & scarring most of the crowd. That's when Kansas launched into their set!
Wow blast from past. Saw that Tour here in Detroit at Joe Louis Arena and agree they blew Heart away. And recall that crazy opening with the orchestra.
I thought the opening guitar riff to this song was the coolest ever when I first heard it back in the '80's. I still dig it. Kansas in prog mode will always be my favorite, though the band has never laid down a single song to tape that merits being ashamed. Whether the '74 - '80 "classic" years... the '82 - '88 "radio friendly" years... or the '90's to modern era of the band: Kansas has every reason to hold their head high. Fight Fire With Fire!
Outstanding driver of a song. This may be my favorite one by Kansas. Its got it all: riff, meaning, back beat that don't stop & that voice, wow! This is one of the MOST incredible videos that I have ever seen! Even "back in the day" MTV never played it. They played their other hits but not this one. I found it on You Tube about a year ago.
The reason is that the current members of the band and some, if not most of their fans, seem to like to 'forget' the Elefante era of the band. Drastic Measures and Vinyl Confessions are often maligned due to it not having the signature 'Kansas sound'. Personally I LOVE it but they are quite a few who don't. :)
Tungus Grump Well, were they not albums that didn't have Steve Walsh on them? I mean, being such a Walsh fan, if he's not on it, i'm not really interested. Not that these albums aren't great and they have some great stuff there, I just think he is such a draw for me. JMHO.....
Rich Green Well you can blame Livgren for that. He became a born-again and decided he wanted his faith to shine through more in the band, so Walsh left.
Vyselink And I don't for a minute blame him. But Steve always loved the guy and admired him for his talent, they worked well together, and they overcame their differences over the years and are good friends today. It's funny, I have played with a ton of musicians and have had a few lose a propeller and go off to the religious side. I ended up playing some studio parts then played with a high production outfit. Then went live. That shit is actually well produced and musically powerful. I'm not a religious folk, but I would do it again. Peace brother!
Rich........Thanks for the commentary. I always thought that the Steve/Kerry thing was not about being Born Again or not, rather the musical output of the band itself and their different visions. True Christians never express hostility to those who have not accepted our Lord. Evangelism is sharing the good news of the salvation that is available through Jesus Christ. Unlike Judaism and Islam, Christians believe that there are many ways to share that good news with those who are willing to listen.
This song sounds EXACTLY like John & Dino Elefante’s Mastedon music, fricken awesome!!! I can also hear where the band Petra got their amazing sound after the Elefante bros started producing it. John Elefante’s solo albums are always on my playlist as well. GOD-GIVEN TALENT cannot go unnoticed.
Yep Gota fight fire with fire, and fallen spirits with Holy Spirit, and fight lust and devil worshippers that will try to cast you onto their version of hell, but in the end, though you may pass through fire, you wake up from death surrounded by family and friends. Very well done symbology in this vid. Well Done Kansas !
This is one of my favorite, if not the favorite, tracks from Kansas. When I watched this video on MTV (I was around 12 at the time), the huge mosquito used to creep me out a little.
John Elefante and his brothers would play alot of my high school dances and around where I lived. They were called Brotherhood.Mid seventies.Good ole days seventies
This song peaked at #58 on Billboard in October 1983. "Hold on," also by Kansas, peaked at #40 in November 1980. Both awesome songs that should have charted much higher. This song should have been a workout theme to a Rocky movie.
I saw Kansas a 3 times in Indy when I lived there. Never failed to Rock us. Maybe they won't ever know how "into our head's" they've gotten. I'm 68 and living proof. If you haven't, see "Miracles Out Of Nowhere." You won't be sorry!🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
For anyone interested in this band-they were known for faithfully making their live performances sound just as good, if not better than their studio recordings. Symphonic elements and lots of time changes-progressive rock with a Midwest take. These guys put modern music to shame.
Your comment just made my day , man, hahaha! After all, what is good music if you can't have a healthy laugh about it. For the record: I like both Kansas and Metallica.

とにかくカッコいい歌🎵
Kansas〰︎✨🥰✨
This song sounds EXACTLY like John & Dino Elefante’s Mastedon music, fricken awesome!!! I can also hear where the band Petra got their amazing sound after the Elefante bros started producing it. John Elefante’s solo albums are always on my playlist as well. GOD-GIVEN TALENT cannot go unnoticed.
Fight fiya with fiyahhh!! Yeyeah! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
This song gets me pumped up for their namesake basketball team. Listening now because we play the sweet 16 in less than an hour
I am argee this looks like bryan adams
AMEN
This is one of my favorite, if not the favorite, tracks from Kansas. When I watched this video on MTV (I was around 12 at the time), the huge mosquito used to creep me out a little.
Alexander The Great It creeps me out today... a lot.
hbono1 LoL!
Ditto on the mosquito... very memorable
I remember first seeing this video on TBS Night Tracks back in Sep/Oct 1983
@@bobpeterson1123 I remember it on that specific show, too.😊
Awesome Kansas Tune N Vid 🐯🐾🐾🐾🐾🌴🌙
Love this song❤
The music industry needs to allow/assist artists like this who have real talent succeed. Music adds so much to culture.
My favorite Kansas song.
Me too✨☺️✨
John Elefante and his brothers would play alot of my high school dances and around where I lived.
But the followup video 'Everybody's My Friend" is the one about a boxing ring's events.
Just seen them in concert, they sound great
This song fits perfect for 2020. This year just gets more crazy as it goes on.
One of the best Kansas songs
John Elenfante's voice sublime!
Coolest video I've seen in a while!
Excelente !! La escuché por primera vez en una estación americana ...
For anyone interested in this band-they were known for faithfully making their live performances sound just as good, if not better than their studio recordings. Symphonic elements and lots of time changes-progressive rock with a Midwest take. These guys put modern music to shame.
*Are known, they still do
Tom Servo that is a true story
Kansas ..they were...are..and always will be the the epitome of professionals
Like Styx, they did a great job blending hard rock with prog
this video was WAY ahead of its time. (for reference on how so, check out Honeymoon Suite's "Feel it Again" video from '86)
Fight fire with fire, ending is near!!... oh wait!
hahaha I thought the same thing
+xxsirwillxx Haha nice, Metallica. We all shall die
+xxsirwillxx im guilty too.
Your comment just made my day , man, hahaha! After all, what is good music if you can't have a healthy laugh about it. For the record: I like both Kansas and Metallica.
yeah i thought this was a cover of metallicas fight fire with fire
Killer bass tabs!!!!!
De France ! J'adore, fan de ces musiques fantastiques !
Was hatten wir damals für tolle Musik...Emotionen und Melodien pur....und heute??? Unsere Musik bleibt für immer
