A lot of BS "tribalism" among music FANS, but among MUSICIANS, there was less talk of "black music" and "white music". Get into instrumental bands like Weather Report, Return to Forever or Spira Gira and all of a sudden you're listening to bands made up of Caucasian, African American and Latino members. Back to vocal music, now you've got to fit into a genre' and into a radio format so all of a sudden it's Rick James "versus" Van Halen. Race is a BS construct.
This was an idea expressed by Socrates . The wise man knows that he does not know everything . People who claim to know everything are ignorant . Donald Trump is a prime example of this he claims to know everything , and thus is not wise .
@@pk2712 does he really claim to know everything though? Maybe in a joking way. I don’t think it applies. Worst you could say about Trump is that he was naive in thinking he could “drain the swamp”, and he had lots of terrible advisers batting for the other side, so not the ultimate wiseman or anything but hardly a fool. I wouldn’t try to make this a political discussion if I were you.
@@eldontyrell4361 I will grant that you are right about him that he never claimed to know everything ; but , he pretty much always thinks that he is the smartest man in any room . He has said time and again that he knows more than many experts . I really was not attempting to make this a political discussion because that type of discussion many time becomes distasteful . I really was just holding up Trump as an example of a person who claims to know more than they actually do . And Socrates was highly critical of people like that . "60's - 80's, THESE KIDS WENT TO CONCERTS INSTEAD OF SIX FLAGS" in those times, as were before and after, the measure of a band can be elusive - as people can say, they do & as they buy, also shall; the business and industry is what measures in statistics.. but, for the matter of living it, the power of message & it's empathy, as felt more than seen or heard, one person at a time, there are rates higher than the sales of their vinyl (you nor we have any livid use of that number); that only assures a total in singles & albums were sold (real good for the bands), not reflecting its energy or the concerts, people & their artistry, every part woven, itself unto, filling pages, turned to chronicles, written of the presence when 'kansas' took tour.. I have known many bands, low to high, my good friend whom was akin to 'vh' lead (eddie) - local cover bands managed in our book'g svc & some statewide independents - for all whom covered great songs, i saw 'dust in the wind', specifically, played by more than half of those.. the guys, their songs & the heart poured into them create a special electricity that is most apparent when live (I would attend most sets).. so, that's what has been, its matters and miracles - there's so much more to lyrical tones than all of the pages can truly project, as words begin to fail the actual impact.. in the south, we really can dig our fellow artists - here in texas, some of us have watched them go 'nationwide' so to speak.. but, legacy is in mourning for the fallen, as many have passed, now.. i bring the wording of that sentiment, to where the best can be found, and in those messages, there shall ever be the power of heart - all without, stand not a chance... ~WarriorPoet~

I was introduced to this song when I was about 13. The guy who drove my school bus played it on his boom box one day and I liked it instantly. Being a kid, I didn't really pay much attention to the lyrics, I just loved the power of the chords. Fast forward about 43 years (to 2021) and it came on the radio as I was driving my mother to her cancer treatment. She asked what the song was about and I told her what it was about and what it means to me. She died less than 2 months later, and as they were taking her body out of the house for the last time, the song came on. It's as if she was telling me "Carry On, Wayward Son." And...I get to see them perform live in about 3 months. Absolute bucket list item.

As a black kid in the 70's I really couldn't appreciate this song like I should've

"If I claim to be a wiseman, it surely means that I don't know." - These words are deep asf.
Always thought he said "I never claimed to be a wiseman, but shouldn't mean I don't know."
@@f_for_freedom2492 either interpretation is elucidating tbf
The wise man does not claim to know more than they actually know .

"60's - 80's, THESE KIDS WENT TO CONCERTS INSTEAD OF SIX FLAGS"
in those times, as were before and after, the measure of a band can be elusive - as people can say, they do & as they buy, also shall; the business and industry is what measures in statistics.. but, for the matter of living it, the power of message & it's empathy, as felt more than seen or heard, one person at a time, there are rates higher than the sales of their vinyl (you nor we have any livid use of that number); that only assures a total in singles & albums were sold (real good for the bands), not reflecting its energy or the concerts, people & their artistry, every part woven, itself unto, filling pages, turned to chronicles, written of the presence when 'kansas' took tour..
