- Down 10-2, Indians score 18 runs in innings 6-8 to win 20-11at Jacobs Field in Cleveland. I was at this game right behind home plate as I received tickets as a wedding gift. The game was better than my marriage.
Recorded on VHS on Fox Sports Net rebroadcast.
I will always remember May 77th 1999, as long as I live!
lmao
You were so far behind the times, I was already in July 1999 by then.
Didn't think May would ever end.
May is my favorite month.
Yes, it was in the alternate universe
Holy shit! They hit singles AND moved guys over too?! I miss when baseball was played this way. It shouldn't be an all or nothing game. Give me a game with a ton of singles and strategy any day
Yea I really miss guys hitting for average and getting base hits. Today’s game is so boring and the new rules make the pace to fast now, I can’t keep up.
Strikeouts & homeruns all that matter!manny was special, average, power& rbi@mattnorcia5593
I don't follow clevland.too slow
Did you watch any Cleveland games from the last couple years? This is the first year in a while they actually AREN'T playing smallball.
No matter how you slice it,s still no rings! For 60,SIXTY YEARS IN DECEMBER
I appreciate you keeping the oldie commercial in the video. It's cool to see what kind of marketing was displayed during this era.
That's back when white males were allowed in ads...
So much magic in the Jake in the 90s. Best baseball I've ever seen.
Damn I missed this game, my calender has only 31 days in May.
You should have seen the follow-up game on the 78th…
@stangately2456 I gotta get me one of them 90 day calenders.
Thank you! I've been looking everywhere for this game. I was there, outfield seats. I remember not being able to clap my hands anymore, they were raw from going crazy. That whole place went friggin bonkers.
This was a classic! Thanks for sharing and bringing back memories
Bobby Witt throwing that 86 mph fastball. That is slower than many change ups today.
What are they putting in the food nowadays?
I remember this game. I was not a Cleveland fan, but I was for this one game.
This lineup was just so sick, so many good professional hitters they could throw out there each and every day
I was at this game. It was awesome!!!
Thanks for posting this. I was in the bleachers for this game. I sure miss the firepower that team had.
I was there I left down 9-1 cause I had to work and thought I'm not gonna be late getting killed. I regret that move 😂
Thank you for keeping in some of the commercials. Lots of nostalgia for that time period. 😊
Remember this game well (was there with my brother and our college buddies from JCU on my brother's bday). The funny thing was that none of us were all that surprised by this comeback-- that's how good this lineup was. Scored like they were playing softball.
I would have dominated this lineup if I played with them
@@thomasmint1761 Nobody dominated this lineup, and neither would you have. Cocaine is a hell of a drug. 😂
I was only 5 years old when this happened but I remember asking my mom "Mom why the hell is there 77 days in May this year? Will it ever end?"
I listened to this game on the radio up at Geneva on the lake.
It was amazing growing up watching the Indians in the 90s!
Can anyone remember the lead analyst next to manning here? I was super young but this guys voice was the most calming through the ups and downs
John Sanders
23:05 Possibly the cleanest HR catch of all time.
I couldn’t believe he barehanded that with his left hand. I mean he must have been left handed to grab it that easily.
That was my first game at the Jake. Just moved to the Cleveland area. Been a fan ever since that day.
Herbert Perry and Paul Sorrento used to play with the Cleveland Indians. They play first base. I was very sad that Jim Thome didn't play. I sure do miss John Sanders who does the Cleveland Indians broadcast with Rick Manning. But what a amazing comeback win to beat the Tampa Bay Devil Rays at Jacobs Field on May 7th, 1999. This is my favorite baseball team of all-time!
Yeah John Sanders was great on the Mic. I don’t know if Thome was hurt but I wondered why he didn’t play either.
This 98 team could have won the World Series.
I thought I was hearing things when Sanders said, "Back goes Sorrento..." 1999 Paul "Not Yet Appearing In Your Picture" Sorrento as a left-fielder?!
Couldn't watch this one live since my cable system didn't carry FSN Ohio until 2001.
Do you have the game where they trailed seattle 14-2 and came back
I was at that game!
That one is available elsewhere on TH-cam, I think
It is. @@thatcriticvideo
Yes I just watched it yesterday
Lmao how is it always the Indians? I just watched another video where the Indians were down 12 to 4 and scored 10 runs in the 8th inning against the Angels.....
This 1999 Tribe lineup was deadly. 1000 runs scored.
Then there's the most famous comeback from 12 down to the 116-win Mariners in 2001.
Oh man, Paul Sorrento playing the outfield for the Devil Rays!
Thank you. 🙏
Was present and it was awesome
From down 8 to up 9. What a turnaround!
May "77", 1999.
My birthday lol
"Manny did NOT get a good jump out of the box"
Also breaking news "The sky is blue"
😂😂😂
I didnt know there was 77 days in may.
For some people, May is a long month. During my senior year of high school, final exam week felt like a month.
Biden calendar
I didn’t remember this game until the will Cordero at bat
I kept waiting to see the Tampa manager's feet dangling from the roof of the dugout.
That cop smiles 3 run shot left field
Funny thing is the 7th inning has 3 less runs without either error and the 8th has 7 less runs without that initial error!
I remember this game was cracking up the whole time cause the Rays were so sure they were gon win it 🤣🤣🤣
I miss the music before a commercial
Man... and I thought February isn't the only one who has a leap year.. but May 77th
The video description is the best 😂😂
Hope the op is still friends with the gift giver
The game was better than my marriage 😂 I’m dead 💀
Almost as much fun as the Seattle comeback
The fans that missed the come back
Hey May 77th is my birthday!!
Good old Dave Thomas Wendy's was better when he was there 😮😮😮😮
@@rogerfunk7315 I was saying the same thing
I remember Kenny 😮
Also, I miss the Devil Rays. They look much better than the bland old Rays.
Cheesy logo
I miss John Adams and his drum out in the bleachers.
*Devil Rays. Thisnwas their second season in the league. How bad were the Indians playing that day?
"May 77?" :D lol
Bobby Witt Jr's father was a pitcher?
So is Jackson Holliday's dad.
Where are the goalposts?
I bleached my hair because of Richie sexton
May 77th?
May 77?
Why is the day May 77 1999 i mean should it be May 7 1999
Errors hurt
This wasn’t Dave’s vision 😒
Better than your marriage 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Any Blue Jays games aired on CBC from 1999 or 2001?
I dont think any blue jay games were recorded at all
Roth like what happened
May 77th 1999???
Yup it was a leap year
Yes take out white
In this year of 2024 it feels so good to to see "Indians"| printed on the jerseys and Chief Wahoo on the sleeves.
"30 days has September, April, June, and November. The rest have 31, except February, which has 28 and May, which has at least 77.
I just really wished they would have gone with Spiders instead
Why the hell change the name to the stupid guardians?? Guardians of what??
This is wild. But my god everyone just has the worst posture at the plate lolol. Robbie’s back is fully 45 degree angle and he ya is a grand slam. The dudes would be cut from the team nowadays. Also all the rays pitchers were garbage. lol
Calling them indians is not offensive
Now they're the Guardians... I miss the Indians name, so iconic. And the Indians logo.
@@regieds what a Brave Indian Atlanta
Obviously not as the AAA Indianapolis Indians are still named that. As well as parks and streets all over the country. Hell, Indianapolis, Indiana literally means Land of Indians.
I still call them the Indians and Tribe.
baseball was ruined the day those idiots created the pitch clock.
What a bunch of crap commercialized bullshit.
Heaven was waiting on top of Jacobs ladder 🪜
