I had this problem, absolutely was confused and ran a whole malware check, glad to see a new video made in case the problem happens but haven't downloaded anything suspicious
I hate when this happens and it does happen quite often like once every month or so.

@@badzgaming It doesn't happen randomly. It's probably ads that you accidentally clicked.

(turns out i had clicked some macafee antivirus thing from my pc and it activated safe search)
I've wondered what caused it.
Just had this yesterday, no idea how this got on my pc because it's a brand new build. All I had done was install chrome and added ublock.
What if it keeps coming back after one week?
Run antivirus scan
I reset my settings and do everything, Then it pauses me signed in in the top right small icon under the close window tab. Then It works normally.
Then I sign in again and it takes me back to the yahoo thing. Idk what to do.
You have to start a new browser tab each time because the current ones haven't synced or refreshed yet.
@@Jay_Rule Yeah and then when i turn on Sync it keeps doing the mobility search and takes me to yahoo.

the way its affecting my pc is i go to search in the actual google crome search bar and then it redirects me to the yahoo search bar instead

Actually worked without me needing to download some sketchy program
That is why I make TH-cam videos lol
Everything is on google and I removed bing off of the search engine and it is still as bing I dont know what happend this happened overnight I have not downloaded anything

What is the McAffee thing do? It seems like the hijacker is associated with it.
It's an antivirus software like Norton
It's the program(perhaps free trial) that sets the secure search. Everytime it updates it will set it back to secure search unless you uninstall it. It's not a virus or a hijacker. It's an anti-virus program that makes a few cents for setting your search to secure search.

restore settings is doing a loop. so I closed the tab & tried a search. For the moment, it searches w/ google. Some of the stuff people tell you is really too much. boot into safe mode, ty, ty, ty

Worked, I got it from Fortnite I think, so be wary if your going to download Fortnite on you pc, it will come back though, but this video works every time
What's the point of the yahoo thing though? Like what do the scammers get out of it, do they steal your information?
Even though Yahoo is a completely harmless site, redirects to another search engine can be alarming. Search engine changes can signal that malware may have infected your browser.

There is no delet button on my yahoo, nothing works. I dont even have Mcafee, idk how this happened overnight.
You need to make Google the default search engine before you can delete yahoo. Try a pc restart if it doesn't work.
It is my default, 3rd restart and nothing. Pretty sure my Chrome is possessed by the angry spirit of mcafee.@@Jay_Rule Thanks tho! I'm still looking for solutions.
So I did this, I even have TWO ANIT VIRUS turned on, and now when I open chrome it opens two tabs one normal and one Yahoo.
I even uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome

@@Jay_Rule I called me tech Savy uncle and we realized my other settings have been changed to, so I’m just gonna be extra safe and factory reset my PC. I appreciate it though. I’m so confused by what the heck I did though.
@@seranrevere865 This malware isn't that devastating. It will revert back to Google Chrome eventually. Did you update your Google Chrome software? Factory resetting may affect your hardware that you've added to your pc.
@@Jay_Rule I'm not sure what hardware is... But it was effecting other computer settings and wouldn't let me make changes anymore... After the reset it seems to be fine other than now it changes between light and dark mode.

@JayRuleProductions I have done that so many times (change the default search engine to Google) and it will last only a few weeks and then BAM - it changes right back to Yahoo. I only have 4 Chrome extensions (McAffee, AdBlock. Capital One and Google Docs). Ugh!
