I am using McAfee anti-virus and it changes the default search engine in chrome browser to secure search with Yahoo. McAfee has removed thats second option of "Tell me if a search result is safe in any search engine". Only first and last options are available to choose from now !

Fix my problem and go a step further
I was so confused after reading a few other websites. This site explains very clearly and I get rid of the problem that McAfee Web Advisor keeps switching my browser from Chrome to Yahoo.
This site takes a step further. It figures out what Web Advisor does. And most important, it shows you how to keep it working on Chrome without Yahoo. Thanks.

Yes there is a registry entry on windows which you can disable, I don't remember it but let me see if I can find and post it here.

This works, but the fix is only temporary. Every time I restart my computer, the default search engine changes back to Yahoo. McAfee's suggested fix is to wait until a notification pops up telling you that secure search is turned off, and then you can tell it not to change your search engine the next time you restart. Why should I have to wait for a pop up from McAfee to change that setting? This is awful.

It does once if a while a pop-up appears and that renables Yahoo as the safe search. It is very shaddy of McAfee to do this.

Thank you for the video! This just happened to me, but I first removed the WebAdvisor extension at first, changed default engine while also removing yahoo and then reinstalled WebAdvisor again - which worked btw. Checked the options and it was already marked as any search engine. Problem solved!
Did yahoo ever present themselves again as the deaful engine for you by following this method you have shown? Just curious

Yes after every update I guess you get a pop-up that asks you to enable secure search from time to time and when you click okay, it set yahoo as your search engine. That is a really bad move by McAfee, there is a registry entry that can be edited to avoid it on windows.

It will default back to yahoo search after you restart you machine which is annoying. I had to unninstall Mcafee and started using Norton360 instead.

It is not malware and it is only a McAfee feature which is optional. But the way McAfee switches this without users concern makes it feel like malware. I have sent mails to McAfee and confirmed it is their feature.
