@juniorrobinson9137 true but it doesn't help solve how it happened and how to correct it. The secret service covered that building with local law enforcement who didn't do their duty. I don’t think he was blaming local cops at all. He was admitting that they made a bad assumption that cops were going to be manning a position that they weren’t ordered to. If you need something done but you don’t appoint someone to do it then how will it get done? That’s what the director was alluding to. It was the Secret Service’s oversight that they didn’t ensure their assumptions were correct and that’s why he said they won’t make the same mistake again.

It's a bit insulting in trying to sell us the b.s that local law enforcement is to blame. So what they are saying is not only did the cops have to follow the directions and orders of the secret service (which the SS acknowledge, at the least, had failure in communication), but also to maintain their regular duties and responsibilities to the public attending. I am aware that there are a ton of finger pointing and passing the buck in regards to responsibility for all the mistakes. Here’s my take. Local LE’s responsibility is to protect the public, and maintain a secure and orderly event. The secret service has one objective and one objective only, that was to protect the former and soon to be current president. They failed. Once local LE had been aware of the situation, the secret service should have been proactive in neutralizing the threat. That did not happen here. To explain this further, and more specifically, Local LE are always reactive to a situation meaning they react to reports. The secret service are supposed to be protecting the VIP. This means they need to be proactive to any threat present and make the moves to complete their objective, they failed. It’s clear something was off when you had local LE in numbers around that building. The secret service failed to even notice the commotion and brought trump on stage hence putting him in danger. Long story short the secret service is to blame for this failure, no one else. The threat was reported as early as 90 mins prior to trump being on stage. Until that threat was neutralized he should have never been given the ok to be on that stage. These are basics of close protection and a complete failure on behalf of the secret service. You had one job, and well it was a complete and utter failure period.

I noticed how there was a huge water tower dominating the whole area and wondered why on earth no one was there to secure that position...the more that comes to light, the more i hear about the shooters history, the more i hear people testify before congress i now think.
"There is no way that this shooter was not assisted by someone, somewhere, for some reason and in a pretty large capacity." Now i ask myself who? Was it a foreign power that convinced him to do it? Was it our own government? Was he hunting him specifically or was he the target of opportunity that came closest to his timeline to make a hit? Why was there a timeline or pressure to hit a target? There are soooooo many questions here that are gonna take a looooong time to come to light. This is all so suspect. If ANYBODY from ANY of our country's political parties took place in this(and it looks like they did) we as a NATION have huuuuuge problems. This sucks entirely and fully for all of us.
