- Bodycam footage shows the moment surrounding a police chase that involved a mother who kidnapped her daughter after losing custody rights in 2022. Florida authorities said Pamela Cabrera abducted her 5-year-old from her sister’s home after the family member denied giving her visitation. On March 31, 2022, Cabrera was taken into custody after being rescued from a retention pond in Jacksonville, Florida after a lengthy pursuit. Cabrera’s daughter was in the car and did not survive. An arrest report shows, Cabrera led officers on a 30-mile high-speed chase with her 5-year-old daughter in tow before ultimately crashing into a retention pond. I'm trying to understand that too. When the officer was there she didn't want her to have a visit even supervised at her house. So why let her come to the door and visit. Especially while holding your newborn? Doesn't seem like a controlled setting. This poor child. May she rest in peace.

@prodbydavegotti3332 I live in Florida. Retention ponds are the main place you WILL see them. Gators don't say oh it's a retention pond. They go anywhere they smell water. That's how they end up in people's backyard pools that also has no food source. They rely on the scent of water.

If that woman who had custody should be held accountable to, how is it she allowed the baby to be in the proximity of the mother knowing she wasn't allowed to visit without supervision. For the mother to be able to take the child it means she was given access to the child, this woman did not care about that child at all otherwise why did she let the mother close to the baby after calling the cops and telling them she wasn't allowed to see the child without supervision, then goes ahead allows the mother to have the baby

@@owenprice4300 they didn't "go for the criminal", she got out of the car herself and she was floating on a tire right in front of them. They pulled her out of the water but they immediately cuffed her and didn't offer her any help up the wet embankment. (rightfully so)

I agree. Should have never let such an erratic person anywhere near the child especially if she was earlier lurking in windows and stuff. And if she was going to let her see her…. Be completely hands free and be holding onto the child the entire time. Don’t be out there with your newborn so that you can’t effectively respond to anything the nutcase might do.
Supervised visitation happens at a set time on a set day at a set location with many safeguards and such in place. Not a visit out on the front lawn.

I don't think she expected her to go to that extreme...otherwise she would have never let her see her at all. She was probably coerced by her to see her and she was attending her own newborn at the same time as well which is a lot of stress in itself. I don't think she is just as guilty at all.

She legally was allowed visitation, just supervised. She was supervising. I'm sure she never thought this would happen. It was in no way her fault.

The guardian took the girl outside while holding her newborn to see her unhinged mother after reporting her to the police. Now she's suing the whacked out mother and other agencies. If she kept her in the damn house it wouldn't have happened. She couldn't even protect the poor kid cause she was holding a baby. She should be charged with child endangerment.

The sister did what she could. It's hard when options are limited this woman harassed them all day and they were told they could not force her to leave from the street just outside of their house. Children are smarr im sure the little girl was on alert the whole time as well. It's not one's fault but her own mothers. This is sad and tragic. I'm pretty sure the sister has enough guilt to carry. The mom should have been thankful she even had someone to care for within the family but she wanted control and if she couldn't have her no one else could. RIP to that baby girl!

I know the story from quite awhile back. The mother pretended to leave, but once police left, she circled back. The woman (aunt?) felt sorry for her so allowed her to visit the daughter. Then when her back was turned, mom snatched daughter up, put her in vehicle and raced off.

Above someone reported the sister stayed in the neighbourhood after cop left, and cane knocking again. Sister did her own supervised visit, but busy with her newborn, the mother grabbed Vanity and ran off. So sister was fed up, and mom wanted to control that child.

Yeah I don't understand why she called the cops to begin with if she was just going to allow the visitation. The moment she saw it was her sister, she should have closed the door and follow the cop's instructions to call them if she came back.
One minute shes sobbing over her daughter and saying through tears that she loves her and the next minute she's saying she better be dead. This isnt an "evil" person. This is a mentally unwell person. That doesnt excuse what she did on any level..but it explains some of her behavior. When one os mentally ill and hasnt completely lost their sanity, its their responsibility to recognize it and seek help. The courts wouldnt take her custody away and order supervised visitation without providing her with a pathway to getting her kid back. Mental health eval and dollow through on recommended treatment. She decided not to do that, so shes responsible for her actions. But her behavior is still explained by poor mental health.

There are procedures for supervised visits by a visitation supervisor employed by the court. Although, idk what the exact orders of supervision was in this case… that is usually how it goes.but just the same could have happened with a court mandated visitation with supervisor. They are not law enforcement or armed in any way
they needed a restraining order - and she should have been taken into custody for trying to get into the child's room and walking around the property. Probably should have been hospitalized.
This woman was completely lucid and wanted to have the daughter back. When she couldn’t, she killed her. It is evil and selfish.
