You are perhaps alluding to that scene in movie Nayak in which Anil Kapoor accosts a slum dweller for renting his new govt given apartment and squatting somewhere else in Mumbai. Even after 22 years the situation is same. What you need is not slum development but education.

The good thing about this show is now they are showing the other side of tenants also. Initially I had thought that this is only for upper middle class with rent>50K. But now my opinion is changed.

Visit old Mumbai. many people are living in old buildings from previous generation to next generation . ( Father to Son to Grandson..... ) Redevelopment of such builings is a big big issue in Mumbai. You might have known Patra Chawal case of Gresgaon West.
I don't understand why people live in such area for 20k. In pune, brand new 1bhk 600sq.ft. in very good society can be rented in 12-15k Why live in Mumbai if one cannot even have their own home
That's the reality people who came from outside in Mumbai created slums have now got free houses no matter they are called slum rehabilitation project (SRA). This people have moved to there villages (goan) amd getting a good amount of money from rent . This flat in SRA would easily coast anywhere between 70 lacs to 1cr depending upon which area of Mumbai So someone educated who slogs day /night cannnot afford even a BHK and people who had came from outside Created slums in Mumbai have got free houses
Please get your facts clear. Slums were built by the local MumbaiKars only. Read the SRA rules, slum-eligibility for SRA goes around 20 years. Which means a person has lived half of his life in slums. There is nothing such as FREE today. That's development and win-win for both Govt & the slum-dweller . Once a slum dweller always a slum dweller, I say this with some caution because not throwing trash is in one’s own hand
High enough fines for littering and our country will be spotless, slum or not. Village or city
