- In this video I use ISTA to show you exactly how to reset your CBS or Condition Based Service data on your BMW. You can sometimes have the issue where you cannot reset the service intervals on your kombi or idrive system.

I had the complete opposite problem. I've just got ISTA so I try to use it for everything but couldn't do the CBS oil reset. So I ended doing in the normal way via the kombi reset button.
Really useful George. Thanks so much. I had been looking for ages to find this as my front brakes only reset to between 1200 and 3000 miles or not at all through the cluster. ISTA is not exactly intuitive is it? Another really useful 'How to' one would be priming the fuel system after a fuel filter change. On my F06 I just had to keep on cranking until it finally fired. It took over 20 minutes
With a fuel filter replacement just cycle the ignition on and off 5-10 times before starting

Has anyone verified, if its reset on the dash, does it also add to the service counter as well?
Yes it does. I've just reset it via the dash and it adds an increment to the counter in ISTA.

Thank you for the video this is exactly what i needed. However i am getting this error code when i try to write old service history and reset CBS "diagcode: d6100_serviceh_99_912". I cannot find any information anywhere about this anything you could tell me would be greatly appreciated.

I have a strange one: when trying to reset the interval on the kombi it just says (----) instead of (9000) for example. It does this for all service items too, so i don't get the reset option, it just says OK. Any idea how to calibirate the CBS data so it knows a start point? I think this was because the car lost 10k miles on the MOT one year before I owned it so I assume something has been changed that messed all this up, maybe the kombi itself?

George I’ve followed your guide but engine oil still showing as needing changing! What’s annoying is on ISTA engine oil is showing 100%. In so confused, can’t find anything on the forums about this. Starting to sound like a cluster fault maybe but haven’t got a clue
Apparently there is a maximum reset value and mine has reached it. Only way in my case to reset the light and stop service due message was to disable the engine oil service altogether! I find it very difficult to understand why there’s a maximum reset value but at least they put in an option to remove the feature completely
Can you add service history? On my car it shows dealer number etc
Not sure about that because my car doesn’t have digital service history but more than likely mate, this is the official software.

Is there such a thing, that resetting gearbox (adaptation) is required after changing transmission oil?, As I have recently serviced my gearbox (oil+oil filter) with full kit, but I have noticed that gear changes became a bit tougher than before (old oil), this is for BMW X5 LCI E70 N57D30 40d engine, 8 ZDF gearbox

George Austers so I must have missed out on the CIC by about 6 months then.
It was an optional extra from 58 plates onwards👍🏻
George Austers mine is an 08 so that explains it.
