Wish I hadn’t stumbled across this vid, at 60 years of age people think I’m drooling because I’m orally incontinent, the young in’s just don’t realise what the site of an RZ500 (even a replica) can do to us old 2 stroke lovers, what an incredible piece of work……….well done that man.
How about you just get one anyway and stick it in the corner of the garage and when she sees it, just say 'oh that old thing, I've had that for years'. Works for me! @@lezc3733
@@thebracketfactoryhaaa i tried that hiding a DT400 in with my other three RD/GT strokers …she spotted it straight away ….If I remember correctly i think she ordered another f’in handbag 😂
I have an 89 3MA and a 1990 3MA SP, and a bunch of 3MA frames and suspensions, tanks, fairings and all the parts I could ever need, and my dream is to build a YZR500, but its almost impossible to find an engine, and when I do find one, they way out of my budget.
My RZ is still in pieces... miles to go before I sleep... Probably won't get to it before I retire next year. Thanks for taking the trouble to make this video.
That is a beautiful bike, good work. I had an RZ 500 as it was badged here in Australia. Every time I see one I get this horrible sinking feeling, I miss it.
I had Two 350 LC's in the 80's one of them was tuned, melted the piston's in the tuned one because I put Micron's on it instead of leaving it with standard pipes. Because that what it was jetted for.
Hi great video, what was going on with rear facing right side cylinder, wasn't smoking nearly as much as other 3 ,was it just less oil in that part on the case?
Hi. Good job on the 500. Could I pick your brains at all? I’m building similar using PWK’s. (Dual Pull) I’m finding the throttle very heavy having to pull 4 carbs. Be interested to know your set up etc…. Hope you can help at all. Cheers
Hi great video, keep them coming. Just wondering what size carbs you’re using and what main jets and the related issues with taking off the original air filter
Why do you say Zed? It’s YZR okay? It’s said Zee. Saying Y Zed R sounds so wrong. You’re ruining its good name, and it’s not how Yamaha intended for it to be said.

get yourself on Ebay and indulge yourself!
The wife would make me sell my YPVS if I even mentioned getting one.

The sound of multiple carbs snapping shut 😍
my dream bike
That’s beautiful. For the road, I’d want a more obvious brake light. Great job, great to see 2T smoke pouring from the exhausts. Beautiful!
The battery was almost flat so it's actually much brighter than that thankfully!
Beautiful bike...I bought a new one back in 1985, a real hoon machine

That is the snag... the motors have now become very expensive.... but I hope you find one!
.. A most splendid job and major fettle ,. Kudos ,..

should be a good retirement project!
Very interesting, mean machine, ingenious modifications.
That sound! brings back wonderful memories.
It's a great sound isn;'t it!

Never rode one of these bikes went on to 4 strokes after rd250 oh and high spec DT. Thanks for showing us around very interesting.
never too late ;-)
This is the bike of my dreams... A 2T four cylinders 500 in a modern frame. It is perfect from all angles!!
Glad you like it! I've another one tucked away which I will share soon :-)

ah, those were the days!!!
First kick! Seriously? What an awesome labour of love. Thanks for sharing.
Actually it was genuinely first kick! Took me by surprise!

Just a gorgeous bike. I wonder how many blokes my age could actually smell the 2 stroke fumes while watching this?
haha - it's dangerously tempting to start it in the garage with the door shut!
Yeah the smell of Castrol R stroke oil is a smell you’ll never forget 👍
AMAZING thank you loved the video and your relaxed way of explaining everything keep safe.
Thanks Dave !
That is utterly superb. Well done.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it .
Outstanding 🇦🇺
Nice! Would like to hear about / see your trail-bike or trials bike in the corner of the garage… Thanks, Les
Sure, I'll wheel it out - quite a cool old bike!
Great Bike , Great build
Cheers Neil.
Nice!!!💖💖💖💖✨
That would give a horn to a snowman 👌
haha!
Very nice........time to don the teflon coated underpants
Exactly.... Got to admit I'm more at home on the BSA these days!
Do you sell that bracket for the power valve cables that attaches to the YPVS servo motor? I'm in the process of building a YZR500 replica as well.
Mint..

Hi Gary, carbs are 28mm and fitted with 165 mains (but needs to go on the dyne for set up). And it will have carb socks but not fitted in the vid!
When are you and millyard doing a special?
haha - I'm not worthy! (though he does only live just up the road....)
Very nice this bike. From witch bike was the cooler? Very very nice...
The rad is off a Yamaha R6
and cheers
Fantastic bike Chris, mate what is the undersea oil tank off. My undersea tank on my rep could be better, Cheers Andy
It's off a TZR250 (3XV) Andy. Fits under there quite nicely.
mine is kawasaki krr 150cc 2stoke 😅
Do you do full engine work rebuilding etc on RD and RG500s?
sorry, afraid not, but I can recommend someone in the UK.
@@thebracketfactory who do you recommend, I’m in the UK?
Can't you get rid that oil injectiction and run premix? 50/1 or40/1 ?

Castor Bean?
do ever came across a 500 bike than runs 20t/40t gearing?

needs to go on the dyno (session booked) but expecting 95 bhp plus or minus a bit..

What Carbs !?
Keihin PWKs
@ and what size ?

Nope that's how Americans say it zee , in english and any other English speaking country it's pronounced zed , America isn't the centre of the world
From someone who says “sodder” rather than “solder”…? :)
I'll need to do a special 'American Edit' with my best American accent!
