great great great! The first time I see, that finally someone gives the kick to these museum motorcycles and does not ride within the hysterical limitations that the mechanics impose... Kudos to Jonathan Rea!
What a cool thing to experience after your Dad rode Yamaha 2 strokes for so many years during his racing career. Very special for you. Glad you enjoyed it so much.
OMFG! Having raced much older 250 & 350 air cooled Yamahas back in the day I can remember the ‘smell’ and visceral joy. What an absolute joy to ride on board a ‘real GP motorcycle’… Thankyou.
A guy came past me in town the other day on a Yamaha RD500, the snap, crackle and pop of the four pipes and smell took me straight back to the eighties as a kid. My aunties husbands RD in marlboro colours was my dream bike then and now!ATB👍👍👍
My brother use to race factory 250 and 500 Yamahas in the 80’s. Part of his 25+ bike collection is his 1 owner RZ500R and dad’s 1 owner RC350LC. I use to love ringing the 350 out everywhere when I was a kid. I don’t know what scares me the most about the 500 these days, my old age, the power or the damage bill when I crash it. I’ve ridden a lot of bikes over the years and apart from the CR500 the RZ500 is the only other bike I got sore wrists and arm pump from trying to hang on to. None of our wives and mothers get it though. We are never allowed in the house until we strip off our stinky clothes.
Very Cool! Max is the man still! And the YZR500 is full on 2 stroke beauty! Miss the days. I hope in the future humans recognize the good things that were made in the past and remake them evolved and much better. MotoGP with 2 strokes again would be paradise!
Are you wishing you'd had a chance to race on 2-strokes? That looked incredible! I wish those things were still racing just for the sound. That's what a fast bike should sound like to my old ears. Thanks for filming this and taking us along for the ride!
I race 500 CC 2 Strokes in a local Motocross Championship. I absolutely love the noise and smell of my Honda CR 500. It's a real bugger to start, though it takes a lot of kicking over.
There I was, thrashing this 500GP bike around Jerez, really giving it the beans and then Jonathan Rae came steaming past me going 40mph faster on a bike he had literally only completed one lap on. You looked so at home on that bike that I can't help but wonder what could have been.
Sono scioccato,ho visto tutti i video di quel giorno.Non ho visto nessuno correre con quella naturalezza su quelle bare su ruote appena salito su…bellissimo
So earlier this evening I watched an EV channel promoting an entry level ‘motorcycle’ as the future, the youth will soak it up. 7 and a half grand for its pleasure to commute through an inner city. I read the comments saying how wonderful it is and even a man in his 70’s apologising for restoring old bikes but drives a battery to work to forgive his lust for life. I was bemused as to what people think motorcycles are. They are a way of life and a passion. I watched Johnny on this machine, a multiple world champion, loving it. Nuff said
That was amazing. It's literally 20 seconds to get used to the bike and then he just got faster and faster, like only a true racer can and will. A well roasted two stroke lol. Doesn't sound as fierce a TZ750 though😂 Next Johnny.
A real racing machine. Built to go fast in anger. Rider and machine developed together to go fast. So much more raw than the current state of racing GP “Motorcycles “
About 24 years old 2T motorcycle and it's amazing for Jonathan! Lucky you mate, you deserve it and more, and all of us that follows you. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful experience 😊😊
Thanks for the video. As a suggestion, you might want to check your microphone settings for future recordings. The wind has ruined that beautiful sound.
Cant even imagine, or barely imagine the power band in that! I Never had much opportunity to ride 2 strokes , one time on a kz 80 twenty years back and i was so surprised with its power band! I missed a shift between 1&2 or maybe it was 2&3 and stayed in peak power band in the lower gear once! Flipped bike right over while going around 25 mph with no riding gear on …lets just say , i never made that mistake again lol…that thing must be like trying to ride a jet rocket when inthe power band 😜
hey mann, it really looks like you are ringing the neck of that litlle bike....lol. what was max biaggi"s time on that bike at that track / how close did you come ? were you getting some ? i remember max trying to fight off the new up and coming valentino rossi. i had alot of respect for him. he fought hard. All he had was not as fast, but he gave it all. no one, put up a fight, to what became a legend in our sport, like he did. That makes him a legend, also, how did you compare ?
Fantastic, 500 two strokes the mans racing era, I am sure Mr Rea would have mixed it with ROBERTS SHEENE LWASON SPENCER RAINEY SCHWANZT GARDNER MAMOLA SARRON and many more
Even when you've had a shite day at work, the sound of a 500cc GP bike on the pipe just makes you forget all about it!!!
😍
Max must be proud of you, sir!
I love that he's clearly gone and had a bit of fun with it too, and not just gone round for demonstration laps 🏍️💨
This bike is a beast and if you got on it, you would turn into a beast too.
You've made a lot of 80s and 90s Moto GP fans very Happy 😊
Yes , Thats right❤❤❤
Er war auch selbst sehr glücklich über dieses Erlebnis..😊
And 60's and 70's😁
hehe max biaggi. what a character. the one we all loved to hate
MotoGP didn't exist in the 80 and 90
I do miss that 2T sound.. ripping! What a privilege mate 👏🏼🔥
great great great! The first time I see, that finally someone gives the kick to these museum motorcycles and does not ride within the hysterical limitations that the mechanics impose... Kudos to Jonathan Rea!
I could ''feel'' the gratitude, when you hugged him and thanked him!
That is an experience you'll cherish forever!
What a cool thing to experience after your Dad rode Yamaha 2 strokes for so many years during his racing career. Very special for you. Glad you enjoyed it so much.
Thanks for the ride! My pulse rate is up just watching.

Adter all those years Johnny finally gets to ride a real race bike 👍
Bet you had the biggest grin inside that helmet Mr rea, what a experience and pleasure to ride that
Good man JR, you treated it like the race bike it is 👍🏻😎
Has to be a bucket list ride dream come true. Great ride JR
Fantastic absolutely amazing laps gorgeous sounds & planted ✨👍🏻

Johnny SHOULD have been a GP rider. Honda shelved him for some reason, and he missed the boat.
Shame. Brilliant guy, brilliant rider. ✌️😎🏴
@@dukesgixer he's a legend nonetheless!
Sono scioccato,ho visto tutti i video di quel giorno.Non ho visto nessuno correre con quella naturalezza su quelle bare su ruote appena salito su…bellissimo
So much miss the glorious music of a racing 2-stroke.. I could smell every gearchange
2 Strokes are therapy!
Man, I'm so jealous. Thanks for sharing, mate.
We even got a couple of 2 stroke clutch flicks by the sound of it.
Wow, Jonathan drove this beast as it should be! Great!
Beautiful sound of a 2 stroke
WOW.... Awesome... thanks for sharing, greeting from Brazil
I bet the cameras were turned off when Rossi had a blast on it, 😎
Im from 80s , Thanks for the ride❤❤❤

It felt as if I rode it myself. Brilliant footage!
It is a disgrace that you never got a fair go on a GP bike years ago. Nice bucket list outing though. Congrats!
Even in a tough season there are perks to the job! A couple of other beauties out on track there as well.
What a day that must have been ❤
I´m so jealous right now... experience of a lifetime i bet! 👍
That's proper racing purity. Nice to see that even on a insanely valuable and historical bike you haven't been too conservative, JR!
Nice - looked like you enjoyed that 😎👍
A very cool bike 🏍 😎
Take it easy, Jonathan .. never mind that I’m gonna rag it .. epic, can I ask what your lap time was compared?. to the old days
Listen to that 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎❤️

Next Johnny.
Fair play jonny, you gave that bike a proper rinsing. Those were not parade laps, top lad!
A real racing machine. Built to go fast in anger. Rider and machine developed together to go fast. So much more raw than the current state of racing GP “Motorcycles “

Epic... what a way to start my day
Would have liked a proper debrief. You rode it how it was ment to be rode 😊
Was that your first ride on it? Amazing how quickly you got to grips with it!
But then again...this is Jonathan Rea. I wouldn't expect anything less.

@Jonathan, did you to ride the 250? If yes, is there footage? Do wish you had raced 500GP's?
Ultimate dream❤
1min and 57sec. About 19 sec. slower then the superpole laps from 2023 with you Kawasaki. Still very fast I gess.😄🤙🏼
Boy he sure picked up the pace after that first lap
Haveing a Ball Champ❤🇬🇧
Kr1s 250cc taught me how to ride 20 year's ago & i upgraded to a zx636r & still own it , if only i kept the kr1s aswell 😢

Epic night.
First lap out, at which brake marker did you realize the engine braking was not the same as your race bike?
Max Biaggi adalah legenda MotoGP yg tidak akan pernah terlupakan
Wish we had smellavision.
Lapped ol dude twice!! Lol. I guess that's why that rowdy bastard bike was retired! Sooo fast!!
Fantastic, 500 two strokes the mans racing era, I am sure Mr Rea would have mixed it with ROBERTS SHEENE LWASON SPENCER RAINEY SCHWANZT GARDNER MAMOLA SARRON and many more
No quickshifter on that one ?
Or you just weren't using it ?
