Bruce is one fearless Kiwi...... that 'stroker is running really sweetly...... I miss them, on the road as well as the track. I loved my two stroke road bikes.....
Came in from a difficult day , not feeling great. This video popped up , watching it with a bottle of cheap red wine, feeling much better 😊. Thank you Bruce and Clive 🙏
Brucie loves two strokes he lived a few towns away from me when he was in nz and we raced in the same series but he was in f2 and I was in f3,he was always on a tz 250 and was always quick so I'm sure he would have loved riding this yzr 500 it's every motorbike racing boy from the eighties/nineties dream to ride and works 500 two stroke motogp bike.
Not many people know but Bruce has always loved two stroke gp bikes I used to race at the same time he did I don't know him personally but he was racing f2 in the 1990s back in nz and i was in 125 gp and f3, he always rode tz's even when the 600s were becoming the bikes to have in f2 but he was always fast so seeing him on the ex works Yzr 500 is a great treat he would've loved riding it I'm sure and he's dam quick on it
i rode a TZ 250 last gen too and it was loads of fun. short track and hillclimb racing. i would've loved to try the TT with it but unfortunately it never happened.
Awesome viewing did not expect the kawasaki to be faster than the yamaha but the noise as smooth silk riding is a sight and sound to be hold ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️from Northern Ireland great video
Had a rd500lc it sort of sounded like that for a bit, but dear god i never even come close to that sound or speed or skill, a thing of beauty whish i still had it .
All racers need to memorise the tracks they will be racing on. Before the days of games consoles that meant a lot of hard work in a classroom with written reports, lectures and discussions and by riding the track, now it still needs hard work and time on the track but it can be learned mostly at home in front of the TV.
Alpha Male Even more than that, they know the exact position within a few inches of where they want to be for the whole length of the track, they have braking markers for every single corner (trees, poles, paint on the road). They know where the camber changes are and just how hard then can put power down as they accelerate. Then every lap is intense focus on hitting every single one of those points in succession as hard as you can without sliding or spinning past the point of recover and then carefully nibbling away at their safety margins without going over the edge. Scares the shit out of me watching them do this but they’re there of their own free will and the exhilaration of getting it right must feel unbelievable. This video is on an old 500cc bike in the Classic race. Listen to Peter Hickman narrate (after he’s done riding) the final lap of his 2018 Sr TT on his 1000cc bike. It’s absolutely screaming and he remembers every little bit of wheel spin he had and calls it out. It’s a great watch ... quite a bit more intense than this video. He did 70 laps in a rental car before he raced it the first time. th-cam.com/video/ju_hxwAanX0/w-d-xo.html
Okay here comes the boorage of questions, first nice riding that b like is one of my favorites, old school F1 bike,v4 two stroke 500cc,what I dream in the turns, what did u do blink your eye and it turn and you still got change for a burger, where did u get that thing for starters...the motor also sounded sweet.thank u guys for the tour it such a long lap 37 miles I'm not gonna remember it all one lap at a time but your helping I love those switch backs a whole island full of them part of the problem I was complaining about was from the go pro and why I was asking about a head mounted camera was the angle of the lean if a camera on the bike has ur head spinning on those of camber up hill mountain sections.on the Helmut cam you would be at a more upright visual angle ,but from the lack of Helmut mounted videos I assuming the helmutbm mounted camera has a bouncy picture for play back videos... And the on bike camera is the only stable way to get good recorded video, thanks.
it's a V4. therefore 4 125 on the same crank. unlike the RG500 Suzuki form Schwantz that had a square flat 4 cylinders on 2 cranks. the last RGV500 Suzuki was a V4 too with one crank.
when I was a young teen I got to ride an rd400 with pipes and hi perf, heads and remember falling in love with the powerband, wheelies in every gear. Current bike is similar.
DNF 6 Daniel Kneen 1991 Kawasaki ZXR 750 18:16.689 He made one lap then retired. He started as the 6th bike away, 10 seconds behind Bruce Anstey who was on number 5. It took about 12 minutes for Daniel to catch Bruce Anstey who also failed to finish after completing 3 of 4 laps. Dan Kneen is a very good rider and the average lap speed that he passed Anstey on was nearly 124 mph.
sid jones oh yes mate especially the run through Crosby flat out for about 7miles run it slightly rich and pray...lots of fatalities from seizures in the past
rob sim Do you know if there was some way to change the air/fuel or oil mixture while racing during the long straights? I wonder if they had solenoid jets in the carbs.
I was stood in the spinney at the bottom of Barregarrow watching Joey Dunlop on the big TZ,having to hold the tank in place with his knees, strap had broken, setting a new lap record of 155.22mph .Honda top brass were stood in that spinney with their stopwatches.I had mine and made it that equiv time before the confirmation came through. No power valves in those days to provide a better spread of power&torque. No pretty little disc valves like on Pat Hennan`s smaller-engined fancy factory XR23 the year previously....
How come THIS doesn't bury the production based 4-strokes in that race..? Not enough horsepower? :- / Guess in short circuit this does. Of course this is 20+ years old technique..
a basic superbike 1000cc murder a 500cc 2 stroke. so a motogp 1000cc is just out of reach for a bike like this. they were great but way too demanding on fuel. they had a 32L tank and a 1000cc needs only a 22L tank for the same milage. the YZR was about 170hp and it lacked of top speed. gets out of breath quickly on straights. the 4 stroke goes on until it hits the limiter. not the cas for a 2 stroke engine. the 500 struggle to pass the 300kmh while the 1000 just goes on without any problem. and it's also much smoother to use than a 500. less risky.
Lovely crisp sound!
Hands up who love's two strokes on full chat?
John Pirie Hell yeh Yamaha 4ever !!!
Greta Thunberg's friends
4 pipes brings the hype!!

Love that sound......bring them back !!!
well they are back with high price like Suter MMX or Ronax 500
Brilliant. zero margin for error. These guys have ultimate concentration and memory. Much respect.
Love & respect for the great man Bruce Anstey. Still slaying the TT in 2019. Well done Bruce Almighty.

What a bike, and what a rider!
My dear god man, that´s just so unbelievable fast and dangerous. Very beautiful!!
HmsSulaco terrifyingly beautiful
All the best for 2022 Bruce. Hope your well in 2023 and the best for 2024 Bruce. We miss you so much.
it doesn't get much better than this!
Sounds like a pissed-off bumble bee. Just awesome.
I love the smell of 2 - stroke in the morning. It smells like powerband 💥
7:57 that bike stops and starts like a bullet and sounds incredible. What a rider Bruce is
i reckon the bike wasn't running 100% around the time he got passed it sounded a tad sluggish when he turn on the gas . . just a thought
What a beautiful sound
A perfect combination of class acts. Stunning.
such a smooth ride, lovely sound as well.
I bought a lot of parts back in the day ( 80's ) from Padgetts. Great people!!

what a sound!
So smooth. What a ride!
Bruce Anstey my hero 😙😙
That bike sounds awesome! Totally different from the banshee sound of the 600s.
These guys have incredible balls! 🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀
new zealand in the house!!!!
aaaah 2 stroke, #eargasm
2 stroke, 4 cylinder, 500cc. This bike needed real men with nimble hands to tame her furious power!
Would have been good to see the rev band but great up load none the less !!!!!!!!!! Thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wrong thing to do..but the most beautiful experience of Bruce Anstey with his two-stroke bike!
Had a rd500lc it sort of sounded like that for a bit, but dear god i never even come close to that sound or speed or skill, a thing of beauty whish i still had it .
Dad had a liquid cooled RD350 fora number of years and that thing was beastly too.
Two stroke monster
O som de reduzida e retomada um espetáculo
ESPETACULAR!!!!!!!!🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷👏👏👏👏👏👏
Golden 2 strokes..
is it a big-bang engined yzr??
I don't think so, when leaded fuel was not allowed in 500cc anymore in the late 90's, all manufacturers went back to the screamer 500
500 cc YZR miam ❤️
Do the riders know the entire track by heart? I can't tell when to slow down or throttle up on curves.
All racers need to memorise the tracks they will be racing on.

I can't understand why 3 losers hate this video. stumped. cagers maybe ?
They probably ride 4 jokes oh sorry I mean 4 strokes
@@Methodemic The green Kawasaki was a 4 stroke.
❤❤2 stroke
How they can?
Amazing!
That sounds like the 250, are you sure it's the 500 ?
It's the 500 4 cylinder Yamaha. It was running in the classic superbike race. Did you see the 750 Kawasaki pass him?

Yeah how long you been riding the TT
4 125s on 2 cranks wide open my God that’s terrifying

What year YZR500 is this?
bruce almighty sure is a lucky old fart.riding the TT on an honda RCV and the classic on the yzr harris yamaha.top bloke.👍👏
Not luck, he earned those rides. Nothing old fartish about him or his riding.
It's a Pagett's Yamaha.
Hi guys, this isn't a 500 4-Zylinder TwoStroke, it sounds like a 2-Zylinder 250!!
I thought the Yamaha 500 was a v4 ?
Sounds like a twin doesn't it? Still an awesome noise but if I were a betting man I'd say it was a 250 :)
Have you owned/ridden a TZR 250 or YZR 500?
when I was a young teen I got to ride an rd400 with pipes and hi perf, heads and remember falling in love with the powerband, wheelies in every gear. Current bike is similar.
angus kangus this is the 250 he hardly rode the 500 last year I as at the Manx
This is the YZR 500.

bet he had a finger or two over the clutch at all times!!

I was thinking that too
rob sim Do you know if there was some way to change the air/fuel or oil mixture while racing during the long straights? I wonder if they had solenoid jets in the carbs.
Which fatalaties due to seizures?
There have been over 240 people killed riding the TT, and several have died cause they were thrown from their bikes at speed.
Blimey!
nice

You weren't there.
Neither were the Honda top brass.
155.22 mph. You are joking? Where did you get your information? I think you are full of faeces.
BS man. the absolute record is about 135.
Gran Prix bike. NOT Superbike. Quite different, especially in that era.
It dosent sound that crisp, also surprised how quickly Dean got past
