In my mind it was a solo action - rpg game as. Mass effect but is a hero shooter... I have to try it even if there are lot of type of these games. The need support also.
At first I didn't care for it and it seemed to not really be my thing, but after looking at the gameplay overview trailer again I'm eager to see more gameplay of it first before completely writing it off. Looks like it has some potentialof being a solid multiplayer game, just maybe not one to blow peoples minds
Im a bit optimistic but idk it could fail hard. Ill definitely be playing the beta in july to give it a shot. IMO the worst part about it from what I've seen is the price tag, specially when overwatch and marvel rivals are free. But maybe its actually worth that price tag.
the issue in my eyes is this genre/this game is not doing enough to bring new players in. It just seems to keep delivering the exact same experience to the exact same people.
@@tomsimmons7673 YOU saw no buzz. There was a certain confidence in Arrowhead Game that the studio has established with the first Helldivers. People who know Helldivers 1 also know that it's not a Starship Troopers knockoff whatsoever, since Super Earth also waged war against the Cyborgs and the Illuminates (the other 2 enemy factions in Helldivers 1) - the latter of which are almost certainly returning to Helldivers 2. It's more like StarCraft than Starship Troopers, but carved out a niche for itself by pursuing genres that the StarCraft IP has not exploited. Compare and contrast to Concord: Hero shooter but 5v5 is not as big of a difference from Overwatch's hero shooter 4v4 as twin-stick shooter & third-person shooter from RTS. People also don't have confidence in Firewalk (being ex-Bungie) seeing that their past experience was Destiny 2.
This is a very stupid comparison. The 2 are completely different genres. The pve coop shooter market is a lot less saturated. Yes there was some skepticism towards it before launch but that was fair. It ended up being something very unique. The PvP hero shooter genre is way more of a known and saturated quantity. Then it being non free to play also does make the barrier to entry more difficult. Really wish people would use some common sense when making this comparison.
The main problem is target audience. The type of people to watch a State of Play mainly watch it for single player games, so when a live service hero shooter takes up 1/4 of the total show time instead of SP games, people aren't gonna react well to it. As for how well it's gonna do, we'll see. It depends on how well Sony markets it, so far it's not been a good start.
This is it right here. The people buying this aren't watching a state of play so it seems like no one wants it. Also expectation is the thief of joy and people hype themselves up about what's getting revealed and get disappointed
I think Concord looks good, and since we need something to overthrow Overwatch due to the sequel's issues, I don't think it's coming at the wrong time. However, if I hear anything about a season pass, battle pass, or similar monetization schemes where you can pay but still need to grind to receive rewards, I'm out.
Not a fan of the genre but I guess the biggest sin it made in my opinion was that it didn't feel like it was doing anything particularly new. Looks a lot like Overwatch 2 meets GOTG and while that's not necessarily a bad thing it will take a bit more than what they showed to create some hype. All this said, I wasn't hyped for Helldivers 2 either. Thought the trailers looked incredibly bland and generic. So maybe there's still hope for this to be as good?
The problem with the triple A industry is it's all about following trends because it's all about corralling the biggest fanbase possible. I'm sure Concord will be passable, but it's not going to break foundations because this game isn't about breaking foundations, it's about capitalizing on what's big and popular and perpetuating that.
People in these comments need to stop comparing Concord to Helldivers 2. HD2 at least had an existing playerbase from the previous game and this game was a major upgrade from their previous game. Concord just looks like someone put Overwatch and GoTG into an AI game generator and this is what it spit out
Concord will need at least one additional showing that is better-directed and more engaging. the character designs, environments, weapons and encounters all looked bland in the recent reveal. but maybe it'll be a Helldivers 2-level shocker, who knows
Destined to fail no, at least not any more than any other multiplayer game in this day and age. I do think they could have made a better first impression with their trailer. Six game modes that make it seem like far more than the Overwatch clone the vocal criticism online would have you believe it is and they didn't go into any of that in the trailer. That's a head scratcher.
Concord looks good but there’s not enough marketing, like overwatch 1 did, that game was $39.99, because people bought was the trailers and loving characters, concord fails that, they need to pump out more trailers to get more people talking about it, and yea I really love the idea when you open the game and there’s a story to care about the characters, they should just use that for marketing.
Yall keep comparing this game to overwatch tells me none of yall have played overwatch because you can tell this game plays nothing like overwatch it definitely looks like the crucible from destiny though
If the game had been full price, almost certainly yes. A $40 price tag for online only multiplayer games in this day and age is the sweet spot. Might get it after I see what people are saying about it.
That's what I'm thinking. If it actually has a deeper infusion of narrative and progression than an Apex or Helldivers 2, It'll definitely be the one I gravitate towards. I'm looking forward to it
It’s disheartening to see the propensity for hate, especially when it comes to the pricing of games. Take Call of Duty and Concord, for instance. The former usually carries a heftier price tag, barring any discounts. As for Concord, not only is it reasonably priced, but its aesthetics are commendable, reminiscent of Destiny 2 and Overwatch. Although I’ve spent more time in Destiny 2’s PvP than in Overwatch, both games provided memorable experiences during my console days. Now, as a PC gamer, I’m eager and optimistic about delving into Concord.
I'm not a fan of battle royals or 5 v 5 games. With that said, those games are always on the top of the list. So it's entirely possible it does very well. I just don't want Sony to forget single players' games
Great video mate! But I still don't agree. I think what people are mainly criticizing about Concord are 2 things. It doesn't have anything that makes it stand out and push forward its genre and the other is that it clearly showed it is a checklist game. The so called "soul" this is having is an amalgamation of everything that companies have pushed way more than we have demanded.
I was one of those onlookers that was heavily interested until I found out it was a 5 v 5 hero shooter. And who knows it vould still turn out good ? However I look at the lrice point and the possible(most likely) cosmetics coming with it and I'm just shaking my head.
I actually thought it looked good and was interested in trying it but learning it's not free to play is a bit baffling. Maybe they'll do a bunch of free weekends or something but I'm just not sure how they'll build an audience by charging $40 at the door for a game that was met with groans when it was finally shown off. And it's a bit confusing from Sony's perspective, didn't they recently take part ownership of Destiny to get in on the live service game? Seems a bit redundant.
Stopped caring about the genre since OW2 was announced but I'm definitely getting this pending first week reviews. Not sure why people get mad that games in genres they don't like get made. I don't play horror games but I'm not flipping out about silent hill 2 saying "it's just another horror game" and "we have enough". I just move on. What a concept!
I said this on Mystic's channel, 5 v 5 hero shooters are really making people tired especially when there's more on the way. Maybe it would've worked as a single player adventure but a live service game, definitely not. Either way, I wish the Concord devs luck.
