OMG...can't stop crying...I was there 90-92...my mother was in the Army...Sportsfield...Fleigerhorse...I was around 7 or 8 years old. Great memories!!!
I'm glad I served during peacetime and that I got to go to Germany. 10 months in Hanau and 9 months in Graff. Can I please have a Dunkel Hefe Weiss Bier and a Jaeger Schnitzel?😁👋
Wow, Pioneer EM Club was still up and running. I was there from March 1965-August 1966. First beer, first slot machine, lots of firsts and memories. Jolly Bar off the main gate, what a place. 543 HEM Company across from the Consolidated Mess Hall on the north end of the base.
30 months in Hanau, thanks for recognizing us as defenders, on our watch 1976-1979, june we never had an incident, that caused us alarm, in fact, morale was high after Vietnam, and I met so many brave but humble men, who were just glad to be serving America, and if lucky return home or remain on watch!
Omg I actually teared up watching this, the good ol days. I was there 2001-2002. I had a BLAST!!! They even had a movie theatre there too on Pioneer Kaserne. Thank you for the good memories.
Fliegerhorst will never leave my soul....never, I put that uniform on everyday, 1st and 32nd, lance missile.....Proud Americans, and believe me, the People of Hanau (germans)...Miss us, as much as we miss them.....glad to have served, the best military in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a picture of my father sitting on the short wall at the end of Building 8 on September 3rd, 1956 while he was stationed here at Pioneer Kaserne. He also had a picture, which I found in my Grandmother's Bible, of the chapel from that time period. I spent nearly four years in Building 7 with the 814th Engineer Company (Assault Float Bridge) which fell under the command of the 130th Engineer Brigade which was in Building 6. I have a picture of myself sitting on the wall at the end of Building 7 from 1991 and pictures of the chapel from then. I returned to visit Pioneer Kaserne around Thanksgiving of 2005 with my family and took pictures of them by Building 7 and also took pictures of the chapel. I was fortunate to have three generations of my family visit Pioneer Kaserne over a 49 year period. I met and married my wife while stationed here.
'88-'91 Graduated from Hanau American High School and worked at the PX and the Hessen Bowling Center. No bad memories of Hanau, it always just felt like home and it never felt foreign.
I was there from 1980 to 83. In the Army. Got out in 83 and my civilian job was doing the same thing I did in the Army, except my raise in pay was $55,000 dollars more- tax free. True. Just loved it. DYNCORP AEROSPACE
In the Pioneer Kaserne Hanau-Wolfgang was my US ARMY Soccerschool:) I have play Soccer in the US ARMY Soccerschool Pioneer Kaserne Hanau Wolfgang about from 1976-1987:)
so much history in this city, it’s not the same as it used to be... there’s a new school in the old Middle School, kept the iron banner and the lockers...there are still messages from the American children in the toilet stalls...so crazy to see and imagine how it used to be...
I served at fliegerhorst in the 70's, how dare fligemon say it was rundown and dirty, I loved fliegerhorst, I was there for 2.5 years, the mess hall was the best, pioneer kaserne, provided everything, and the guys were the best, really post Vietnam, who guarded the Fulda gap...we were the best...proud Americans, how dare anyone say it was a dirty place, we always respected the German people, but never, or almost never got the same respect, even americans, did not like soldiers.....Once a soldier, Always a soldier, who cares about your new PX....we loved the old one!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was there 91-92 . 85th Maintenance I worked at battalion because they wouldn't let me serve as a 27M with the mem. 😂 I would love to find some of my old buddies. We tore the clubs up every weekend.
Hello Sir, Thank you for this upload. My question is can i use this video and have it on my channel also? I am trying to have it all on one channel. If that is ok please give me a answer. Best reegards from Germany. Armin
Hanau in the late 70s was a poorly maintained, poorly resourced and dirty military community. With the 80s came the new PX and Commissary, new housing in Argonner and Campo Pond and some unit transfers that cut down on the total population. It is always darkest before the dawn. Time does indeed march on.
Indeed! I had the time of my life those years. I was in Hanau (Pioneer Kaserne) 19th Mt. Company, 8th Mt. Bn 1983 - 1986. Worked on Grosseauheim, MOS 76P. Met some very good people, some friends to this day. Very pleasant memories for the rest of my life.
