It was amazing to see this Brazilian actor represeting our country, and representing it sooo well(even though we DO NOT speak spanish), but i already expected him to give a good "menacing guy" vibe because of his role as Captain Nascimento in the brazilian hit film "Tropa de Elite"(Elite Squad at you guys).
I think that the reason Death says "Why the hell do I play with my food?" is that Death knows that if he had just laid back and let Puss continue on the way he'd been going then Puss would have just died stupidly again. Game over. But no. Convinced of his own immortality Puss had laughed in the face of Death. That angered Death. Now it wasn't enough for Death for Puss to just run out of lives. Death wanted Puss to feel it this time. Lord knows how many people Death had met who deserved a second chance and didn't get it while this narcissist squandered his second, third, and so forth chances. So this time Death decided to actually manifest himself to terrify Puss. Death wanted Puss to finally feel his mortality, feel the fear of Death. He succeeded and this resulted in Puss being forced onto a path of self-discovery that resulted in Puss confronting his own narcissism and coming to terms with his own mortality, none of which would have happened if Death hadn't gotten angry and decided to toy with Puss instead of just laying back and letting Puss be an idiot. Mind you, it could be said that Death did actually succeed in killing the arrogant little legend who thought that he was immortal. That Puss is dead and a better Puss has replaced him. Puss is dead, long live Puss!
A late reply but it could more likely be he was taunting him in physical form rather than having killed him outright in their first meeting at the beginning of the movie. After all he said he found running more fun. But now he's disappointed Puss, in some way, did escape the chase.
@@PullaWheellllll I do agree that Lobo could have killed Puss at any time and that the chase was the point from his point of view. He wanted Puss to fear Death before he took him. And Puss did. Puss finding a life worth fighting for BECAUSE of Lobo's actions and then gaining the courage to face that fear was a twist that I don't think Lobo had anticipated. Lobo taught Puss the meaning of fear and had, inadvertently, also taught him the meaning of courage. Once he did that the Puss he had come for did die, in a sense. I am rambling.
Yes. And i think that even the form he takes (wolf) may be exclusive for Pussy. He wanted him to feel fear, and he was the personification of everything that could defeat Pussy; stronger, faster, truly hunter. Death was a great caracther
One character I really love in this movie is Perrito. His backstory is so horrible and sad, yet he still has so much optimism, appreciates all the good things in life, and just wants to help people. He's a perfect foil to Puss and Kitty who helps them both overcome their problems. We could all learn a thing or two from Perrito.
Also I like is subtle but if you think about it he is the opposite of Jack Horner. Jack Horner literally has 0 reason to be that evil but still he is. While Perrito has plenty reasons to wanting to see the world butning after the amount of pain he went thru. But still he is good because is not your past that definise you but is you, you decide which person you want to be.
"Fun" detail: Perrito's map is actually pretty grim. The Pocket full of posies is a reference to the plague, the river of relaxation is likely the river styx, and the field of "quick and easy solutions" is a euphemism for suicide. It just looks cute and easy because it's hidden by Perrito's positive outlook on life.
I think it’s really easy to overlook the fact Perrito is traumatized, and his persistent optimism (especially when telling his “funny story” of being abused) is a coping mechanism. I love Perrito and relate to him so much. I wish I had the same cheerful disposition but people around me seem to like my dry humor and cynicism well enough 😅
- During the fight with the giant the bell tolls seven times and an eight time when Puss gets killed. - During the death montage the etching on the corners has an image of the wolf in them. This was intentionally removed from the trailer to avoid spoiling the plot. - Perrito's path is incredibly dark below all the colourful names. "Pocket Full of Posies," is a literal reference to the practice of the same name where those who could afford it carried a pouch of dried herbs as an amulet since it would help drown out the nasty smells of the world. The practice reached the height of its popularity during The Black Death as the scent would combat the smell of decaying corpses in the street. "The River of Relaxation" is most likely a reference to The River Stix that the dead drank from so they forgot their past lives. "Field of Quick and Easy Solutions," is a reference to what pop culturally, denigrating, and justified is the slang for suicide. - The Baker's Dozen is exactly 13 as a baker's dozen should be. Only one of them dies during the incident with the flowers, the rest are healed up by the phoenix after, which is the reason there are 12 in their confrontation with Puss. Three die and there are exactly nine in the scene where they fall down the ravine. - This is shown by the Ethical Bug being flicked away. He loses a wing and a leg. This is the reason he's flying on the phoenix at the end of the movie. If paused you can see clearly that he only has three legs, yet at the end, he comes in flying and with four legs. The only thing that has happened in between was the contact with the phoenix. - If you take the first letter of every sentence on the page in Goldie's book of fairytales it spells out, "You already got it." The last paragraph describes how the main character sits in her father's lap, surrounded by her family, and watches the stars, or, her ending. - Death is unimaginably powerful and has depowered himself to have a fun time chasing Puss. This is evidenced by how the Star has no power over him at all. He never shows up on the map and he casually walks through the barrier of the star. - In the final fight between Puss and Death he has to fight him alone to symbolises that when the time comes everyone ultimately dies alone. What matters is their important connection and the small dagger symbolises that Kitty Softpaws is an important connection for him and thus ultimately what saves him in the moment. Even Puss is surprised when Death lets him live as shown by him visibly breathing a sigh of relief. Puss does the correct thing, he accepts death as an unavoidable part of life and thus his fear of death no longer has any power over him. - Death would totally have killed Puss as well and he's a fair sport that plays by his own rules. He set those down earlier when he said, "...and you didn't value any of them." So, when Puss does value his last life Death longer has a reason to kill him and leaves.
The most obvious one was the wolf hiding in the crowd during the giant fight. Much less obvious is if you pause at Goldie and the 3 bears wanted poster with their pictures in frame it spells out "Want Family" "Field of Quick and Easy Solutions" map icon has on it what are called "Hangman's Trees" and even a swing under one of them.
I always wondered with Death not showing up on the map at all and being able to just walk through the barrier like it's nothing, would the wish have even worked if Puss had asked for it? Or is Death more powerful than a wish? It was shown throughout the film just how powerful and omniscient he actually is, and the fact that for him, taking Puss's last life was entirely personal, so would he have just continued anyway even if the wish did work?
A bit of correction, it's spelled as Styx, and that it is also known as the river of hatred and the very river where greek gods and heroes take an oath to, because breaking an oath when sworn on the name of the River Styx would bring upon the wrath of the goddess of that river and hatred as well, also named Styx. The river you're referring to that erases dead people's memories is called River Lethe.
No one ever talks about it but I really love Baby Bears character growth. From basically calling Goldie a weird orphan who invaded their family, to being outraged that she didn’t feel like part of the family, to then crying at the end because his SISTER saved him. I want a Bear Crime Family spin off movie so bad. I love them
This movie had no right to be so good. After a pretty mid first movie, this movie took everyone by surprise. You can tell the people behind it actually cared about what they were making, giving us a great story, good development, and one of the best antagonists in Death. Also the cast! Florence Pugh is one of my favs so her as Goldie was such a pleasant surprise but everyone did amazing, returning and new. Perrito must be protected at all costs.
I wrote this on the IMDB trivia section for this movie because I thought it was so obvious but none of the reviews I’ve seen mention it, i can’t believe im the only one that caught it: ‘’The map and the different paths is a clear reference to Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy in which Dante with the help of Virgil, Beatrice and Saint Bernard of Clairveux goes through Hell, Purgatory and Heaven, an allegory for the soul's journey towards God. Here, it is Puss's journey to the realization that he must stop being so self centered and appreciate life and those around him. This is also why the map changes for everyone who touches the map, as everyone's path in life is different.’’
Death was such a surprising antagonist. Nobody expected this movie would go this hard. Jack Horner is also a very good villain. Its refreshing to see a pure evil character with no traumatic childhood except getting outplayed by Pinocchio😂 10/10 film
This took puss in boots (a great side character, but a so/so film) into the next universe with animation and film style. Even the humor was quippier than normal. I loved this film.
Makes me so happy to see new reactions to this movie being posted! This is honestly my favorite movie of 2022, might be my favorite movie EVER (or at least top 3- 'cause I'm a sucker for quality animation) ! This film is such a gem that no one saw coming!
I love that we get two villains. One in Jack who isn’t evil for any reason just purely a villain. And then we get Death who is just an antagonist and just doing his job- in the end he succeeded because he got puss to appreciate his lives. Both were so much fun
I understand folks wanting to overlook the first film, but for what its worth,it fleshed out and developed Puss and Kitty's relationship more from here. In the first film, Puss and Kitty were younger and-to sugarcoat it-flirtier. Very VERY flirty with each other. Here in Last Wish, it's seems evident that in the offscreen timeline, their relationship had built up enough for them to actually consider marrying each other. And while lost in the overall theme and plot of the sequel, SoftBoots shippers, including yours truly, had a blast with the two's every interaction. And I really appreciate how mature they are now. That's where the development is; they went from sassy, flirty young lovers to old couple that's known each other and probably had many adventures throughout the years but broke up, and yet there's respect for each other. They grew OLDER, and so did their relationship. I didn't actually pay attention to their relationship until I saw Last Wish; since the first film somehow just left them to have some sort of on-off relationship (and they do seem the type), and I just treated it like any other standard straight man-woman pairing in movies and forgot. And fun fact: Kitty has no claws. Her previous owners *declawed* her. So while she and Puss were tugging on the map in the initial chase scene, either she's got a really strong grip, or Puss wasn't pulling that hard (seeing as how he's got claws and therefore, the advantage) on account of knowing this about Kitty. But all in all, he respects her enough to not go all out so I go for the former.
For sure, I would absolutely watch a bona fide Guy Ritchie-style heist movie featuring them! Maybe as a prequel, since I really love their happy ending at the end of this one.
This movie is so good! I have an 8 year old so I get dragged to all the animated movies and wasn’t expecting much with this one. I absolutely love the Death character! 🖤🖤 very menacing. I also really want to give props to the art style, I really enjoy the hybrid of what looks like rougher hand drawn frames and the digital animation. It adds a really special fun something to the visuals.
Amazing movie, simple story but well told and so wholesome. For me Perrito and death are my favorite characters, especially death, I think in animation it is one of the best representations I find. If you liked the action animation; I would suggest you checkout castlevania, it is a series but has some of the best animated action scenes I find.
Perrito and death stole the show! Such amazing characters. Perrito stole our hearts and death had us at the edge of our seats. Haven’t seen castlevania yet but adding it to our list! Thank you for the suggestion 😃
The animation style of the film was inspired by Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse with the director believing that Into the spider-verse will bring in significant changes for the whole animation industry.
This is seriously one of my favorite movies, animated or otherwise. SO good, on SO many levels. And Perrito overwhelmed me with his genuine goodness, optimism, and wholesome sweetness. Truly one of my favorite cinema characters. Great reactions as always, you two!! 😊
I love that the cricket has a Jimmy Stewart voice for those who don’t know he was a very famous old actor most people know him from it’s a wonderful life and the best part is as kind and humble as he is usually in movies he was actually that way irl just a genuinely good person in a way the Keanu Reeves of his day so I think it’s so perfect they used him for the conscience voice inspiration
For a movie that is sequel, 11 years after it's original (which itself was a spin off of a different movie franchise), this movie is amazing. It digs into so many things and has so many compelling stories baked into it. Top that off with Death being an amazing villain in both presentation and motivation. I really hope they actually get to do a third movie where they bring Shrek and the original gang back together again.
You two are just so darn *CUTE!* 🙂 For the movies I've seen, just watching you both react/comment is nearly (Sometimes IS) more fun than the movie itself! Thank you!
I love how Death was represented in this film. It basically takes the idea that Death shows itself to you in both a form that is familiar but that of which you fear the most, and runs with it. One of the best depictions of Death I've ever seen.
There are so many hidden things in this movie it is utterly crazy. Here are a few. During the giant fight the bell tolls 8 times, the last time when it takes his 8th life. If you pause during the wanted poster for Goldie and the 3 bears, their faces cut out the word "Want Family". Last is Perrito's map. I've seen someone already told you that the locations have a dark meaning. The last one being the worst as "The field of quick and easy solutions" refers to suicide, but also the location on the map has what are called "Hangman's Trees" with even a swing under one of them. His map like him allude to a dark past displayed in innocence.
13:15 Yeah, cute, sure... and they're also ruthless criminals, but never mind that 😆😁 Other animated movies to watch? Oh, I can think of a few, let's see here... I don't know which ones you've watched already, but the Kung Fu Panda and How To Train Your Dragon trilogies are amazing. The Despicable Me trilogy is fun too. Megamind is another good one, as is Inside Out and Up. And let's not forget about Wall-E. Or Incredibles 1 and 2. Rise of the Guardians, Moana, Big Hero 6, Zootopia, and... well, you catch my drift 😊
Interesting detail: The map shows all who enter the star's area. Because Death is an entity and not a person, if you look, he doesn't show up on the star map.
Perrito is a great addition. Death is amazing. Jack Horner is a funny evil villain. He could have escape and would have been alive, but he wanted the wish, but they stop him and lead to his death.
Man i could write an essay on how awesome this movies visual story telling is. But il just say this is my second favorite animated movie only beaten by spiderman
@OfficialMediaKnights yea, it was very surprising considering how i was going to base it off the shrek movies. Another thing i will shout out about this movie is how well they handled having so many characters in the movie, and they all got a spotlight to shine in! Not many movies can pull that off in 1:30 hrs
I keep imaging the scene where the Bears return to the pie factory. Baby:"Oy listen up, this place is under new management! Jack Horner is dead, and we're taking over!" Workers: "Jack is dead? And the Bears Crime Family is taking over?" Goldi: "Yup, you work for us now." (pause) Workers: *Massive cheering* Baby: "Now, where are those purple suits?"
I gotta say the female character I like is not just kitty soft paws, but also Mama Bear 🐻 because of a good heart she has. You know something thinking that it’s like a shrek -based movie I would think mama B would make a best friend to Fiona
Me thinking at 39 that my generation just called them cartoons not animation. The only thing I can think of was Anamaniacs which was a title in a cartoon when I was growing up. In my head nowadays I separate the two. I enjoy it all anyway. I also learned today that there are Fairy Tales and then there are Nursery Rhymes lol.
When I first heard about this movie, I dismissed it because I watched the first Puss film but couldn't bring myself to finish it, and I'm honestly not a fan of the Shrek movies either ("Come at Me"), but then I heard rave reviews and found it on Peacock and decided to stream it. It's an awesome film to watch, and it shouldn't just be thought of as a kid's film, either. Also, I didn't know that Ari understood Spanish. Does he speak it, too? Did he take classes while at school? How about Denise?
This film was way better than we expected! Animated films have been getting so freaking good both visually and narratively. We’re so happy we gave this one a shot. And yeah! I do know Spanish and Denise is in the process of learning 😃
Ari and Denise I love your reaction to puss in boots the last wish🐱🐶🐺 The Wolf death character is my favorite !! Also is your reaction to Transformers rise of beast coming back on TH-cam I miss it :( :)
Glad you enjoyed! We enjoyed how menacing the villain was in this 😄 Our Transformers reaction won't be coming back on YT. It is now a Patreon exclusive.
@@OfficialMediaKnights My pleasure yeah death is really the best villain And oh I see well Next letting me know just wanna say it was nice watching your reaction to transformer's rise of beasts on your TH-cam :( but Now I know where else to look forward !!! :)
it's sad that everyone skip the first movie and go straight up to the second one . The first one explains puss's childhood and how he met kitty .please everyone watch this movie
I LOVE how shamelessly, irrevocably evil Jack Horner is. I like a good sympathetic villain, but those seem to be flooding modern media. Give me more irredeemable bad guys!

Little Goldilocks book in the cabin reads Y-O-U-A-L-R-E-A-D-Y-H-A-V-E-I-T.
I remember this song so well 2:50
This movie tackled anxiety and death in such a cool way for kids to learn from
I love that the cricket has a Jimmy Stewart voice for those who don’t know he was a very famous old actor most people know him from it’s a wonderful life and the best part is as kind and humble as he is usually in movies he was actually that way irl just a genuinely good person in a way the Keanu Reeves of his day so I think it’s so perfect they used him for the conscience voice inspiration
So glad you guys watched this!!💙
We were blown away! Thank you for watching this with us ❤️😃
For a movie that is sequel, 11 years after it's original (which itself was a spin off of a different movie franchise), this movie is amazing. It digs into so many things and has so many compelling stories baked into it. Top that off with Death being an amazing villain in both presentation and motivation.
I really hope they actually get to do a third movie where they bring Shrek and the original gang back together again.
The animation was actually done by some of the guys that animated “Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse”.
You two are just so darn *CUTE!* 🙂
For the movies I've seen, just watching you both react/comment is nearly (Sometimes IS) more fun than the movie itself!
Thank you!
The voice actor for Lobo Muerte portrayed Pablo Escobar in the Netflix series Narcos. Another Antonio Banderas film to watch is Desperado
amazing how much emotion you can feel for a cartoon character
His map like him allude to a dark past displayed in innocence.
this movie should not have been this great but man I love it this is better than what Disney has put out so far
Hey Denise I love your reaction to the bar with The cuteness overload😂😂😂😻😻😻😻
13:15 Yeah, cute, sure... and they're also ruthless criminals, but never mind that 😆😁
Other animated movies to watch?
20:54 He doesn’t even hide it and is offended when people don’t see his evil
Also Goldie's voice by my favorite actress Florence pugh ❤
Perrito is a great addition. Death is amazing.
Jack Horner is a funny evil villain. He could have escape and would have been alive, but he wanted the wish, but they stop him and lead to his death.
Man i could write an essay on how awesome this movies visual story telling is. But il just say this is my second favorite animated movie only beaten by spiderman
The animation in both films is incredible! We absolutely loved the style they included in this one. The way they animated the action was so dynamic😃
@OfficialMediaKnights yea, it was very surprising considering how i was going to base it off the shrek movies. Another thing i will shout out about this movie is how well they handled having so many characters in the movie, and they all got a spotlight to shine in! Not many movies can pull that off in 1:30 hrs
the fact they used the animation used in the movie "The Bad Guys" make the action way more dynamic.
The Death desing is absolutly amazing
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it.
I keep imaging the scene where the Bears return to the pie factory.
Baby:"Oy listen up, this place is under new management! Jack Horner is dead, and we're taking over!"
Workers: "Jack is dead? And the Bears Crime Family is taking over?"
Goldi: "Yup, you work for us now."
(pause)
Workers: *Massive cheering*
Baby: "Now, where are those purple suits?"
Death is voice by Wagner Moura
Enjoyed this reaction as usual guys 😂🎊🎉 please do hoodwinked next and a few more animations
Three amigos was taken.
you guys should really watch the first movie - Puss in Boots (2011)
I gotta say the female character I like is not just kitty soft paws, but also Mama Bear 🐻 because of a good heart she has. You know something thinking that it’s like a shrek -based movie I would think mama B would make a best friend to Fiona
Me thinking at 39 that my generation just called them cartoons not animation. The only thing I can think of was Anamaniacs which was a title in a cartoon when I was growing up. In my head nowadays I separate the two. I enjoy it all anyway. I also learned today that there are Fairy Tales and then there are Nursery Rhymes lol.
Oooooh been meaning to watch this movie. Will have to catch it and come back to your vid :) See you in a few weeks!
20:25 favorite scene in the movie.
I like where in movies death is not good or bad. It is just there, doing a job. Joe Black this and a few good also.
17:52 me when exams:
Fun fact: After death leaves he probably had to come back bc of jack horner who died
I can't remember im pretty sure i did but did i ever recommended reacting to "We Were Soldiers" and Tom Hanks "Greyhound"
This is a great movie
It really was, we LOVED this!!!
18:06 Good Perrito.
The scariest movie villain of 2022 is really a cartoon wolf
If you guys haven't already seen them, i recommend Up, Encanto and Coco.
Great reaction guys. My animated movie suggestion is "Raya and the Last Dragon", if you haven't seen it already.
10:25 favorite scene in the whole movie.
I'm so excited to watch this!!! Would LOVE to see your reaction to Warm Bodies (what Twilight should have been 🙃)
Ohhhh that's actually a great recommendation, thank you!! Definitely adding it to our list!! Hopefully you enjoy!
The Prince of Egypt
Florence Pugh - my love❤❤❤
The first movie was so forgettable, but this one was way better than it deserved to be
Bro man said they played hide and seek but they threw him in the river😂😂😂😂😂
Hahaha poor baby Perrito, it's so messed up 😭😭😭
Ari and Denise I love your reaction to puss in boots the last wish🐱🐶🐺 The Wolf death character is my favorite !!
Please react to Raya And The Last Dragon.
it's sad that everyone skip the first movie and go straight up to the second one . The first one explains puss's childhood and how he met kitty .please everyone watch this movie
who would watch a goldilocks and the three bears and death wolf movie bruh🖐️
Oh hell yes, count us in!!
Please do the movie 'AMADEUS'!!!
I LOVE how shamelessly, irrevocably evil Jack Horner is. I like a good sympathetic villain, but those seem to be flooding modern media. Give me more irredeemable bad guys!
Chihuahuas rule!
Puss In Boots The Movie 1
❤🐱❤
😼😼😼
Y'all please watch george of the jungle
23:06
Hey I quit watching this series after Shrek 3 and the first puss in boots film. Maybe the second. Been hearing good things about this one though.
Reaction a gran turismo
a bit less on the overacting
I don’t really like perrito he’s so overrated
