I think this is the most honest and profound talk about marijuana addiction that I have seen. I really identify with the part about, "marijuana is a problem because it's helpful, because it makes me feel normal..." and it has been a huge long-term problem. Thank you.

I gotta ask, when you were in emotional pain did you use the weed to blind yourself to it? I smoke weed daily basically, but I find that if I'm in the throes of depression I actually don't want to smoke weed or even drink, sometimes I do still smoke weed anyway.
I'm asking because for me I swear weed makes me think about things in a more positive way and it doesn't blind me to any of my feelings, it's more like it allows me to look at how I feel in higher resolution. Was it like that for you?

    • @Martiniiiiiiiiii
      @Martiniiiiiiiiii 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

Sometimes it’s easy to blame things outside of ourselves. And we definitely have a lot ways of numbing ourselves with the many drugs, activities, foods, etc so it’s easy to vilify the external and not the internal. Did you ever ask maybe why your confident husband turned to weed? Why did he feel the need to numb his pain? Did you ever notice he was in pain with that kind exterior you seem to want to impose on him? Was he actually confident or was he putting up a front for his loving wife because that’s what men have to do when we marry? What if that kind and confident man you married was never *just* kind or confident? Why is is so hard to accept the duality of the human condition? It’s never just about the substance but about why that patient feels the need to numb their pain. Where is the pain coming from. Cannabis use is just a symptom of something much bigger. If you really cared about your husband I would stop focusing on his cannabis use and focus more on where his pain is originating and the rest will take care of itself. Psychotherapy and couples counseling hopefully can help too. Wish you both well on your journey! 🙏🏼

its not the weed that brought it. why did he take it to begin with? there must have been something underlying, that he was deeply unhappy about in life. the weed was a bad attempt at self medicating for that issue, like it is with any other addiction.

@raze956 He started at 13. I'm sure there were many reasons. He is in his mid-50's now. I met him in our 40's. I have lived with him as a daily cannibas user and not. I prefer not. He is a gentler, kinder, more confident & patient partner without weed. I'm not into psych-analyzing my husband...that's on him now...to figure out the why....I am just commenting on the state of the relationship.

26:40 and 27:20 Very well explained.
"I am not passionate the same way so I am just mimicking the passionate people."
29:30 I agree with him that at this moment everybody is competing to get attention.
But I would say some good channels actually compete in healthy way
to also provide some real connection, like finding connection, creativity, and values.
34:00 "Get your psychological stuff met in real life."
He probably means like 30-day detox from internet etc...It helps, but then you have to set another boundaries and write some plan.
As other therapsist said 30-day detox will restart your dopamine "reward system" in the brain, which makes you more focused and happy, because of healthy amount of dopamine,
and it seems exercising some sport and sleep, creates also serotonin and happy hormones.
It seems like in real life we have all the solutions in front of us, we just shouldn´t listen wrong people who say nonsense, and make you depressed or discouraged
but follow your own intuition and if you realize sport and meditation make you feel good, you should continue doing it.

    Some therapist said good point
why do men feel depressed from watching porn,
because the body releases the hormone of love oxytocin and the bonding hormone,
but he is alone in the room, so it makes him depressed.
Plus also the part of the brain that contains objects is activated
not the part of the brain that contains humans.
His brain feels like he is looking at objects, not at humans.
I guess maybe doing some sport or camping with family, would make men happy on many levels and bonding with people.

  • @alenaadamkova7617
    @alenaadamkova7617 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

43:00 I think having success in jobs is healthy at some point, but then you are supposed to enjoy the fruits from it,
finding the time also for your other needs like sport, conversation with colleague or friend, maybe they need your advice, or support,
or the friend wants to promote your work, and you promote his work, which is voluntary but it´s enjoying, it´s bonding, it creates beautiful long-term memory.
or for traveling, meditation, proper sleep, enjoying the process of bonding with family, going camping,
the seemingly ordinary stuff, but they are actually extraordinary...
they will give you feedback and they smile, they will say we enjoyed the trip in nature, we should do it often etc.
Their nonverbal communication and smilling, actually give you also the feedback, that they feel happy, in the present moment.
The job success will wait for you....but the brain and subcosncious mind is not trained to believe that the success will wait for you after
comming from the trip with family, but you train your brain to learn it.

I'm sure "failure to launch" has absolutely nothing to do with the hell scape of an economy we live in. Right!? We all live in a vacuum. Right? The fact of the matter is upturns and downturns in the economy track very closely with rates of suicide, drug addiction, child abuse, etc. So talking about these issues from an individualistic perspective is important, but it's about fifty percent of the picture, maybe less. To not mention the societal factors that we all deal with that are demonstrably unnatural undemocratic, unethical, immoral, heinous, repugnant, is to really gasligh people's suffering. If we really want to solve problems, we have to talk about the larger order relationships, we're all a part of you cannot solve individual problems in a vacuum, but that's exactly what psychology and self-help. And that whole manosphere angle tries to preach.

Why would anybody listen to this show? I've heard 2 completely different Thanks from 2 completely different people. One says marijuana helps your sleep. The other ones says it doesn't help your sleep Your podcast sucks.

Weed affects people in different ways. I know people who can't sleep without smoking.

What David said. Alcohol, opiates, other drugs or disassociatives do not act in the same way marijuana does. One can smoke for 30 years and only feel sleepy, others can smoke 5 years and feel that way, then get paranoia everytime they smoke afterward. It is not studied as well as all the other substances due to strict controls on who is allowed to cultivate and research it's effects. One can have ALL the schedule drug licenses, 1-4, and still not be able to test the pot in your local dispensary. I find a lot of Dr. K's and this guy's takes on Marijuana very uneducated in the space. I think this may be my last video on the subject from him, certainly my last fro mthis interviewer, and I'll stick to his others on various topics.
