I love this universe you made. I recently got moonrakers and I love it. I hope you continue to make games in this universe. Also, you guys need to put together a Spotify playlist for this.
As always since Moonrakers i have always pledge for your new game. Ill add this one up to my collection as you clearly are my favorite studio out there
The most confusing part that I had to go over again is that the player color is NOT associated with the in-game factions. I found it difficult to understand that distinction at first watch; I know the color pallet is supposed to be consistent but idk I would rather there be a clear visual difference that the individual player is not associated with a faction simply because they share the same color. I kept thinking, why the heck would anyone vote for a color not their own until I understood that the “power” of the tiles your ships are touching is how you gain points.
Really? Another game? Looks like I am slowly building an IV Games shelf in my office. My wallet isn't so happy but you guys are just so awesome at making games. As a side note. Your "How to play" videos should be a benchmark for all other creators on how to present the game!
This game looks super cool, but my first impression is that the Ambassadors and Riders are a bit superfluous. Some action cards seem like they already work like Riders, and the Ambassador scoring seems a little out of place when compared to the rest of the scoring system. This is from just one video though so I could very well be missing how these fit into the bigger picture/gameplay flow. I'm really digging the other concepts here (like the different ship types spanning 1-3 hexes, unique hexploration, faction objectives, hidden council voting, etc). Right now I'm thinking it's a bit too complex for the folks I'd play with, but I love IV's passion & attention to detail-hope the Kickstarter goes well!
I haven’t heard this until now and I hope you can provide a clarification or maybe something you have already thought about: What bonus do players get when exploring unknown areas? In order to reward those daring to go into the unknown? And to prevent everyone from sticking to what they know. P.S I have been waiting for this for months ever since the teasers started to drop. Really excited and a definite back for me:) keep up the great work
Great question! It’s certainly a trade off! It really depends what you’re looking for on your turn. A slight benefit is that nearly all the exploitable tiles are better than the starting tiles. But usually you explore because you don’t have an ideal location on the board and you think you might find something you want.
Will the be a side board or something to use to help players see how much power they have of each faction? Im sure after some plays it will be easier to see, but at a glance, it's hard to tell from the board state. Even if its something small a player could put behind their screen so its still private, but you know going into voting what you stand to gain. Love the way the game looks! Cant wait to back it!
Agreed, any quality of life improvements to help track the amount of power one has would be great! There's a lot to juggle in this game so anything to help make that easier would be a welcome add-on.
So you get to move each ship once per round, across your 3 turns? or you cant move them after you take them out? or after a round theyre put back in storage to be taken out again during your turns? this isnt really mentioned explicitly. similarly with the storage upgrade, unless you get it during one of your first turns, why wouldnt your ship already be on the board? and how retroactively does it get the favor and influence, from your previous turns in the same round or from the entire game?
Will it be confusing as influence are represented as cubes without borders on the hex while on alternate action it is with border which is the same way favor is represented on the hex?
That has not been confusing in gameplay and the reason they are white in some alternate actions is that they are favor cubes. So that iconography needs to be the same. Hope that helps!
@austinharrison2463 Hi Austin, thanks for the clarification. Was confused as in the video it is explained that rider and action card alternate action is to take an additional purple influence. So there is favor as well?
@@zephyrang489the action card one is being updated to be an influence, the rider is a favor influence. Leaving it as general influence allows for it to be generic and allow players to just look at the back of the card while playing.
@austinharrison2463 Alright got it! Thanks for the explanation 😃. So the final iconography would be standardized? If white border at back of card means lost it at end of round, if no border I get to keep it behind the screen. This game looks amazing! Going to pledge for the deluxe tier 🤩
Get a valuable skillset that such company need, such as graphics design and etc. It’s also important to build up a nice portfolio that shows that you kick ass at that specific skill. And you have to remember, a well established and popular studio such as IV Games, will most likely only be interested in hiring the best of the best, so you’ll also need several years of proven relevant work experience before you’ll ever have a chance at working at such a studio. My biggest advice to you, is to start learning a relevant skillset and practice it A LOT and get a relevant degree. Furthermore, it could be worth to start working on your own game and maybe even start your own one man business to get experience in the field. This can be scary to do, (I know from experience) but you’ll just have to believe in yourself and your skills and see it as a learning experience. Obviously, the correct course of action all depends on where you are in life. Do you have an education? Are you a student? Etc.
We hate bursting bubbles, but no metal this time 😭. There will be a pre-painted minis option, but because color differentiation is so important in this game, we decided metal wouldn’t provide the color separation needed for an easy-to-scan board-state.
Moonrakers is one of my girlfriend and I’s favorite games of ALL TIME, and got us into collecting every other IV game (the only one we don’t have so far is Veiled Fate), we’re SO excited to give Brink a try. Quick question on the rules, you said that the action deck and rider decks give influence, but in the video the cards are showing the purple cubes with white borders, so would they be favors instead? Or are the cards actually going to have no white border?
You’re correct based on what’s shown in the video, but the rule was changed after those cards were printed! The final version will be no-border influence cubes (probably 😂)
Im a big space buff, really dig Moonrakers (yet to crack out the Titan expansions though which look like massive improvements to the game), but my board game collection needs a cull and more shelf control. The main thing I am bumping up against is that I don't see why I would pick this over Sidereal Confluence for the negotiation. I am also generally not a fan of having to earn my scoring separately from what I am inmediately doing in the game, secondary layers for scoring is a quick path to frustration for me. The game looks great, it sucks having over 300 games now and needing to find excuses not to back such great products. I'll keep an eye on the campaign though!
Totally understand, thanks for checking it out! We absolutely love Sidereal, but we wouldn't consider it too much like Brink. The cube trading is similar, but a much smaller portion of the gameplay than Sidereal. No real engine building here, a lot more ability combinations. Plus Brink plays in about half the time 😂
A very good catch, but we've tricked you with last minute rule changes that aren't reflected in the printing! A few things are still in flux, but we're pretty sure they're influence and not favours. FINAL FINAL decision TBD and we'll update the video.
looks good compared to all other iv games. i still enjoy veiled fate and mythic mischief (occassionally, more so on the app). this one looks more refined compared to the other games without needing to correct gameplay with expansions. depending on game time and balancing i might be in :D
I love all your games, but you really need someone advising you around colourblind friendly integrations. You use iconography so well but then miss the mark for total accessibility.
I'm waiting for my partner to watch the H2P video, so I'm mostly commenting to bump the video's visibility, but, also - I'm very excited (my wallet is not), and it will be an insta-buy, per usual.
Everything you guys make always looks awesome... But gotta say this game looks soooo good! You out did yourselves!
You outdid yourself by being nice on the internet! 🥰

I’ve managed to resist all of your games so far, but I think this one might finally break that! This looks so cool
Dude, Moonrakers is worth it. I can't tell you how many people have told me that they now love these sorts of more complicated games.
@@RionCaughman the thing is, moonrakers and even Brink are definitely on the much lighter side of games I would play lol
Moonrollers was pretty good too. Light on the rules but just as fun
Love how exploration and the actions and resources you get are directly related. Can't wait to back!

I had a similar thought. Once I understood it wasnt a big deal but initially its kind of confusing.
