    Good morning from California! wow! it's amazing! I loved watching your video. This is my first time making a quilt so I have been watching a lot of videos so I can be ready. Once I have cut a lot of pieces for log cabin ( I thought it was easy ) quilt but left it there after making one block. I din't do my home work with that one. This time when I make something I want it to be precise. Thank you so much for a beautiful video.

    Like this new ruler very much. Played with a couple of different ways to put the nine patch together. I used another color where you have the tan and cream as my second way. I’ll have to make more blocks to put them together to see which colorway I prefer. Perhaps I will alternate the darker blocks with the light ones as you have them in your tutorial. Will send a photo when I have it completed. Great possibilities!

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could if you don't mind a "scrappy" look to your quilt since this requires specific colors and a charm pack usually only has a few repeated fabrics. Also, if you don't mind trimming your charm squares down to 4 1/2" :)

    If you want to use 5" precuts. Can you then use a 10 inch ruler?

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use that 10" ruler. That would give you the additional length needed with the additional inch or so when using the 5" precuts! Merry Christmas! 🎄~Leah

  • @binkjo

    I agree about the waste, However, think outside the box. Sew those sides on to a block, even up the outside edges, measure, cut a square sew the 4 sides onto it. No waste.

    • @libbysmith7633

      Here's another thought: incorporate the waste into a design for the back of the quilt. This will allow use of the excess pieces and require the purchase of less fabric for the backing. Two birds.......

    • @audreynims4940
      @audreynims4940 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes, I was already thinking about how I could use the waste if I cut it carefully. Every block has 4 waste strips, so that's nearly enough for a narrow border, or plenty to stitch together for a double row down the backing.

    • @rebeccafitzgibbon1265
      @rebeccafitzgibbon1265 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, I'm with you on the waste. I'm not going to do all that sewing and pressing to throw half of it away. Isnt there a better way to do that block that doesnt require so much cutting and waste?
