Bless you for posting all of these awesome tracks, Flame Ninja. I feel like I'm the only person who appreciates any part of this game, but I'm glad to see that's not the case.
DJRevan agreed. Saul's original bg composition was years before release. It was community posted on the forums before I joined DE in 2003. (Wayne Frazee)
***** I was in all the way from the Alpha... it just never quite 'made it' for me. One of my favorite parts was that the in game music was dynamic... If you were doing well it would go one way, if poorly another.
@@shanedog007 oh absolutely dude, i grew up on the OG game and its soundtrack! I actually did a video to talk about the game...mostly just to gush about how damn good its music is xD
i really feel like this game could have been the start of a new genere of 3D arena fighters if they would have put more into it. The gameplay was pretty good for maybe an alpha build but it really needed more gameplay mechanics to make it something great. The gameplay was far too simple and stiff to be fun for very long. I thk they were about halfway to achieving that, but the industry being what it is they were probavly forced to make due with whatever time and resources they could get. If this was made today as a kickstatred indie title i think they would have knocked it out of the park!
My (brief) memory of Battlegrounds is of never quite being pointed in the right direction, with the fights being monotonous, slow and boring. I *still* play 2097 pretty regularly, I absolutely *wreck* with a Jaguar, but Battlegrounds... meh. I don't miss it. Has a pretty kick-ass soundtrack though.
The only reason you feel that way is because they are trying to "modernize" and update them, I can entirely sympathize with you though, the OG OMF sound track was something to write a documentary on!
aerospaceorbust - destroyer / pagoeja By that standard all Techno and House is a rip-off. They are all sampled. Still, Saul did also lay some fresh tracks for the game. Fun fact: Juan Villegas actually did his own mixes in his personal time. Saul wasn't the only one with musical talent on the team. Incidentally, I was the last DE employee.
Original main theme was better. It was crisp and upbeat, with feeling of an underdog taking the tournament by the storm. This one is just completely wrong. Every single part changed and not for the better.
Perfect modern interpretation of the 2097 soundtrack. Where bass beats set in gives me a shiver every time. Perfect.
Artist: "Okay, which of these woosh sounds do you want for this song?"
Developer: "Yes"
2097 was awesome and I totally love this track from the successor. When beat picks up at 1:25, that's heavenly!

No, it's definitely not! I've uploaded High Orbit 4 years sooner btw :P

Intensified intensity intensifies intensely.
Its crazy, i loved OMF:2097, but i never heard of battlegrounds till now! and the music sure was awesome! thanks for putting this up!
Battlegrounds had an amazing soundtrack. Basically every song off the OST is great. Just never play the game whatever you do.

EDIT the music was on par at best. . . . have you heard the OG OMF tracks?

Agreed. There was quite a bit of potential in this game, but it really did feel like a rush job

@@shanedog007 Damn. You're better than I am.
Original has the charm, this is just ok.
I like this version of this theme. The original is better, but this one is also nice. :)
graet dank u
I beg to differ. The original soundtrack is several times better. This sound is just kind of 'muddy'. Not a fan.

Here is a remix that blast you away;) th-cam.com/video/K3Jf4i4jG4U/w-d-xo.html
