I always enjoy constructive criticism and would love to know what you think about my designs.
Please subscribe as I have hundreds of other upgrades for many, many other cars, rc cars, toys, and anything else that I think needs upgrading!

I was restoring my original Tamiya Lunchbox from my childhood when I realized that the servo mount and parts of the chassis were cracked or broken. Since this was the first RC I built with my dad as a kid I really wanted to keep it as original as possible, so, I ordered some ABS and acetone, cut a few pieces out and tried patching it up. To my surprise it worked extremely well! The ABS really welded itself to the chassis permanently and the joints seem stronger than the original plastic. It’s been holding up great even on stress points. I tried welding the ABS to itself in an attempt to fabricate pieces for different vehicles but they didn’t work out as well. There’s something about the dissimilar plastics that really create a permanent bond. The Tamiya plastic is rigid where as the ABS is more flexible and the two together create a strong bond. It’s not like glue or epoxy which eventually fall apart. I don’t have a Falcon but I’d be curious to see if I could fix it with this method. I’ve done some ABS repairs other vehicle since the Lunchbox and they have all outperformed my expectations.
Interesting, I usually find the opposite is true so maybe I need to give it another chance.
This is AWESOME. It's possible to get old vintage Tamiya RC cars back on the track again. Only downside is doing more damage to a vintage Tamiya than can be repaired.for that reason it might make more sense to just buy a newer car and save the vintage cars for the shelf.
I personally don't beat them up when I drive them so if bashing is the plan, then heck yes.
@@AMPROEngineering that's a relief, somebody that respects old Tamiya classics . I love Tamiya too. Just yesterday 26 October 2023 I brought for myself a brand new Nova Fox and a Lunchbox black edition. And as I was looking on the hobby shop website, I'm thinking I could have brought something newer and ready to run. But these new ready to run cars and trucks Sem soulless to me. Like straight out of the box , just charge a battery and go. Where a kit I build has my time and love , so it's something special for me. But I've always been a Tamiya fanatic, since I was a 13 year old and I'm now 50. I have my original 1986 Tamiya Fox, a rerelease Super Hot Shot, rerelease Hot Shot, rerelease Hornet, 2 rerelease Candy green Grasshoppers, a rerelease Midnight Pumpkin black edition, rerelease Avante black edition and rerelease Egress black edition. With more Tamiya kits on the way too. You're ampro engineering is extremely helpful to me , I'm in Australia but will be buying from you in future. You definitely have some great products available at ampro engineering. 👍👌
This is just fantastic. Now we need a good front suspension for the frog.
WELL HAVE I GOT NEWS FOR YOU! (he's prototyping one now)
Stupendous. I will purchase immediately upon release.
Oh yeah I'm on it.
I saw it on your Instagram. Can’t wait. Looks sick.
Wizardry. You knocked it out of the park! Have you ever thought of designing your own Tamiya-esque buggy of your own? That would be an interesting study in design for you. Excellent work as always, sir. 👍💯
No one has ever put it like that....tamiya esque us a great idea....I may....
Damn, more money to Shapeways. I had a restored Falcon. I moved from CA to Texas and the movers decided to keep my falcon. Looking for a new one to restore even build up. I just bought a tub I found on ebay for pretty cheap, might just go this route right off the bat. Thanks for the designs. I just ordered the cantilever setup for a hornet I found (that did not belong to me) that was in my boxes when the movers delivered them.
OMG you're kidding! Thats awfu. Any time man! Make sure you put the chassis pivot points on the correct side. They should be perpendicular to the ground, not aiming down.
Had to put my sunglasses on to watch this one. Can't wait to see what you have in store for the back half!
Tell me about it...it's so bright!
Very cool bulkhead and bumper design.
Thank you!
I hope a new set of tires arrive in the near future.
I do have GH2 ones and new wheels.
Looking good! And looking forward seeing what you will do with the rear 🙂
Thanks! It will be stock-ish, just not broken. Hahah!
Yeah I’m definitely getting a falcon now !
Haha!
very good upgrade and modification ! But I was more into Traxxas ones, e.g I got an second Slash 2wd it runs quite well, and there are tons of spare parts you can get on line. plus, I got an traxxas teton as well, this 1/18 little truck is also very funny !
I totally agree. In terms of functionality, the Traxxas wins! The Falcon is like the Hornet, it is nostalgia.
Hi, i have a D Parts Set, but it is probably one of the last.
I can imagine!
Really love your humor! I’m saddened that you aren’t going to continue with the Falcon upgrades. The Tamiya community needs a better solution to the super brittle rear arms and mounts.
I am kind of over the hate mail from hardcore Tamiya people. I do this for fun and they dont seem to understand that these are just toys.
Looks good in yellow and do you do custom parts for Tamiya boomerang., 👍👍👍
Thank you! Nothing Boomerang at this time but it is on the list.
This is awesome!
Thoughts on a double front shock front end for the Fox next?
Oh man, ahah, I dont own a fox at the moment....
I would need a transmission retainer for the hornet which fits the dt01 transmission. Maybe you could help me out with my super fly Interpretation.
I can try! Building a home at the moment, ahaha!
Man looking sweet !
Thanks!
"For those of you who want to see this car running..., join the club!" LMAO
Good looking stuff there!
I haven't noticed anything on your shapeways store available in the HP plastic...yet, maybe things are slowly getting there. It would great for those that don't like how fragile the current plastic is.
Oh, and on a side note, since you like scale things. Have you ever thought about making hex mount wheels for the M chassis VWs, specifically Jackman Wheels VW stars, in a size that would fit the Hopper/Hornet "Smoothie" or similar tire, for a more scale appearance like the real 155mm wide tires on Beetles?
Sorry, just a weird thought.
Seriously man I havent had the time to hit the track or trail! I do have a few things but usually I hear people complain about cost. I love that material and use it at the office a lot. As for the wheel...no I havent but I have no idea why not. It is a great idea. I will do this now and take all the credit! Hahaha!
@@AMPROEngineering I am happy to let you have the credit for the wheels, they would be the perfect VW scaler wheels...{I can just imagine the handling/grip...lol}
And my time/hours working with CAD can be counted on 2 hands, so I am afraid I'd start, screw up, and then give up.
Maybe you would know, I got this box of motors at a yard sale. I have 3 labeled 540can open bell end (one of them the label is kinda melted but it works) " R/C Legends by Bolink Powered by Trinity." Im thinking about putting one into my Gen 8 Crawler I just dont know any thing about it other than its slower than a 20t stinger with 7.2v. I guess I should just sell it and try and find a better motor seems kinda rare cant find another one like it.
If memory serves, those motors were race spec units for the Legends cars. Sadly, I know nothing about turn specs or anything like that. Sorry, I wish I could tell you more.
@@AMPROEngineering That was about all I could figure out Legends cars were some kind of dark age of RC no one talks about.
Yeah I totally get that. Seems like 1995-2005 were totally dead for RC.
This is always what happened with the falcon. You didn’t ever want to hit a curb with the falcon.
That's the truth.
pretty cool man!!
Thanks man!
VERY NICE..Much needed
I sure thought so.
is there a template for drilling the holes for the Falcon bumper ?
you need to line up the rears and estimate the fronts by looking through the side.
What is the durability of the reproduction parts? have you done any reasonable stress testing on the product?
Oh yeah, I run all my cars on the track often. Take a look at my superfly videos, king cab and my ORV rear double wishbone videos. Superfly 1.0 has been racing for 5 years now. Only one rear rim cracked and one wing mount has broken.
@@AMPROEngineering What filament are you using?
I'M SORRY I WANTED TO SAY THANK YOU BUT I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO STOP SCREAMING WITH EXCITEMENT SINCE I SAW THE INSTAGRAM POST I THINK MY LANDLORD IS GOING TO EVICT ME SOON BECAUSE OF THE NOISE COMPLAINTS I CAN'T HELP IT I'M JUST SO EXCITED
AHAHAHHAHA! Anytime.
I hate the yellow lol I took off the back yellow bumper / bracing
Black it is then.
I know maybe you might lose money on this request..how ever you know how much we love our our Falcon's.. is there any way you could offer a kit to upgrade all of the upgrades that most of us could possible afford to keep our Falcons going...I for one am retired on a fixed income but this car was my first..it is a great RC car as you know or you wouldn't have made replacement parts for it...I would love to upgrade mine but can't in no way afford to to it piece meal...maybe you could do a one time order ....all or nothing upgrade...hey just a dream of mine if your not into it no harm no foul...I love what you have done..!!!
These are all on myminifactory and can be printed on an FDM for cheap. Shapeways has no price break on a kit since they bill based on volume sadly. Myminifactory is the way to go!
👍👍
Frog stuff is next....
Hi my names Benjamin I've been a fan of yours for a good time I have a falcon and the bulkhead I have is bad I was wondering if you would print one for me
Hey Benjamin, thanks for reaching out. So Shapeways does all my printing. The link to my shop and the part numbers are in the description. The section list is on the left side of the site and you will find all things falcon there.
Watched through all your episodes, I find no video about DT02/DT03, they are not appealing to you ?
No not so much. They are rather modern and there are a lot of upgrades for them. I have been getting really into scale stuff but I am working on a DT01 upgrade!
.....and now off to eBay to find a Falcon.
ahahahha~! Sorry....
