I haven't watched an Ampro video in literally years, but i was still subscribed. When this popped up, I immediately clicked. The Superfly project was what got me into this channel all those years ago, cool to see a third installment!
I'd say you've knocked it out of the park with this one Alberto! I'm looking forward to the build videos. The idea of an all-black superfly 3 hornet sleeper is very appealing.
"no, not like the BBX" I knew the comment was coming, i was happy when it did, I am excited about the BBX almost specifically because of superfly! This video has been a long time coming, and man...... this car is epic!!! bravo
I really enjoy watching your build videos. The technology is beyond me but I try to follow your explanations. One thing I caught was the small piece of artwork from your kids (?). Too many parents don't involve their own children. It's great to involve them in something other than just playing video games. It's important that we do things that will get their curiosity going.
Oh yes that is true. I try to involve them in everything I do, not to get them into RC or anything, but at least so they know how to work with their hands and create/build/repair something tangible. Thank you!
I’m excited to bolt that IRS to a Nikko F10 😂. I put a nikko Dictator rear gearbox on a Radio Shack golden arrow and it completely transformed the handling but suffered from the 380 motor. THIS is what I’ve been looking for 😁
That is SO cool. Having purchased some of your parts from shapeways, i can imagine that this whole car would be approximately 9 billion dollars, but still... might spring for that rear suspension for my hornet basher.
I'm currently building a very special one off Blackfoot that's part OG ORV part king Blackfoot and part something else not ready to reveal it just yet but its for the most part inspired by you buddy and as very nearly gave up RC forever a few years back it your channel that restored my passion for building what didn't exist before! Many thanks and will be watching as long you keep posting vids my friend!
@AMPROEngineering I think I was even bugging you about it at the last crawl 4 a cure 😅 I'll be slowly converting my hornet and my early "pre-cw 01 style" pajero build.
This is amazing!!! I no longer have any of my Hornets unfortunately (except my Rising Fighter) but I'm glad you still have so much passion for them! Being able to mount the factory body is the best part. I also thought the Hornet and Super Hornet were one of the best looking RC cars in history but never drove them very much because they handled like... well... shopping cart was pretty accurate lol
Very cool design and a lot of time and effort to get all that worked out and operating properly! Super cool and it looks amazing! Looking forward to the videos to learn more about and I guess I need to start saving for parts now..
Love what u done. How and what parts are needed for the rear end. I am 1 of the crazys that actually still race the hornet. I am intrested in the rear end and the front double wishbone front end.
I wish but that would cost even more on shapeways. They way I have it set up will optimize the build and make it cheaper. Ill have a full BOM when it is ready!
Many of the parts are in sets on shapeways. This will be the most cost effective way to order all the printed parts. Ill have links and part numbers for all the purchased parts.
I really like your work dude. The Grasshopper has a slightly shorter wheelbase than the Hornet, is it possible for you to make a version of the transmission case for the Grasshopper so that the wheelbase stays the same?
Very good point. Thanks to the lack of trans slider, they had brought the rear end in a few mm. So I cant make a different rear end as the suspension arms and tower are aligned and that would effectively necessitate a full set of grasshopper specific parts. So I was also looking up the delta between the two and no one shows the same numbers. On top of that, they show the hopper as longer! they heck!? I need to get to the bottom of this.
Sweet! What shocks did you use? I have a few Hornets/Grasshoppers that need some TLC, that IRS conversion might be the list if I can fit the Sand Scorcher body with it. Anyway, nice work!
These are HSP 1/16 units. You can see them in my SuperFly 2 builds. Ill cover this build soon! The Scorcher will def fit since I have that on a few other hornets already!
I hate you. Not really, but that is SOOO much cooler than anything I can come up with...I won 2wd stock class in my area against EVERYTHING in 87-88 with a dremel tool modified Grasshoper. I really need to build another one.
Hahaah, thanks man. I am sure you can do something like this too. Just took time and lots of determination. I wish I could have seen cars like that running back then.
Hey bud, I have a vintage Hornet I want to put you superfly rear end in. Do you have a kit for just the rear end? I will probably add the rest but I do not think I can afford the hole car.. Its my first hornet and I want to run it so makes sense to put modern rear end in it..
@@AMPROEngineering Thats awesome I really want to run it on the track along side our holiday buggy. Being a vintage non self queen id rather save parts I can and have fun.. You know the ball park price for kit? I need to start saving.. Thanks Think down the line to keep converting the front end and cage under carage but rear end is a must..
hey on e254 you mde working fans for the udr. im wondering if instead of running the fan wires into the batterys if i could run it to the reciver in the reciver box
Well, I uploaded everything to Shapeways, 5 hours before they went out of business....so at this point, it is only available via home print. I am working on a new print host. Ball park is in MJF which I used, well over $300. Pretty much not worth considering you need lots of other hardware.
@AMPROEngineering everything is always worth a thought plus I am not one to get rid of parts that still have life left so hardwarei have, as well as having something unique is always worth considering.
Well....there are parts of SuperFly 3 that would work on a GH but a lot of the parts are for this car. Things that may work are the rear end, and with some mods to the body, the front suspension. You can see all GH adn Hornet parts on my channel by searching "Ampro Hornet" and "Ampro Grasshopper"
I haven't watched an Ampro video in literally years, but i was still subscribed. When this popped up, I immediately clicked. The Superfly project was what got me into this channel all those years ago, cool to see a third installment!
Well thank you! I do have a lot of products coming soon but this has been lagging for no good reason!
I'd say you've knocked it out of the park with this one Alberto! I'm looking forward to the build videos.
The idea of an all-black superfly 3 hornet sleeper is very appealing.
I would love to paint the production one that way too BUT then no one will notice the car isnt a hornet! hahah!
"The BBX is like this car"😂
Someday your conversions are the reason for me to buy a Hornet. Great looking car👍
Hahah! Well I did design this 4 years ago and this car has been running for 2 years so I think I am accurate.
400th episode‼️💯🗣 HERE'S TO 400 MORE🍻🇺🇲😁
Just awesome!!!
You're one of very few "youtubers" that when notification pops up of a new video, I instantly go to watch.
Love everything you do!!!
Thank you!
"no, not like the BBX" I knew the comment was coming, i was happy when it did, I am excited about the BBX almost specifically because of superfly! This video has been a long time coming, and man...... this car is epic!!! bravo
I thought that the second I saw that car, haha!
Mate, you are the MUSK of RC
Hahahahahaah!
I'd love to have this as a complete kit!! Would be a blast to have one to compare to all of the stock ones I have around. Fun stuff!!
I have driven this a good 50 packs so far and I am in love.

Wow that would be a hell of a project!
That’s a beautiful hornet… love the pink.. superfly 3 is bad ass
Me too, I love the pink decals. Thank you!
That is SO cool. Having purchased some of your parts from shapeways, i can imagine that this whole car would be approximately 9 billion dollars, but still... might spring for that rear suspension for my hornet basher.
9-10 billion...hahah! It is weirdly not as pricey as you would think. A few high dollar bits but I was surprised too.
Awesomeness my friend look forward to seeing the build vids and don't worry I'll still be here by e800
hahaha! Great to hear!
Whoa!! That's the coolest, well worth the wait.
Thank you! Now to get it released....
That looks INSANE!!
Haha thank you! There is a lot you dont see here but the build video shows it all!
YYYYYEEEEESSSSSSS! FINALLY! I've been waiting so long for this version to release.
Uhg tell me about it! haha! Now to finish the production one quickly.
@AMPROEngineering I think I was even bugging you about it at the last crawl 4 a cure 😅 I'll be slowly converting my hornet and my early "pre-cw 01 style" pajero build.
Great video. Beautiful creation.
Thank you!
Ha ha ha that's a BEAUTY for sure... Hell it even looks good enough without the body on it to still be a a BEAUTY!! Nice work!
Yeah i know! I think one day I will make a different shell but most of the time I run it without the body. Thank you!
Absolutely fantastic. Love it!
Thank you! I can't wait to finish the production one.
Nice job on super fly.looks awesome 👏
Thank you! I cant wait to show running video.
Turned out amazing 🤩
Thank you!
Dang... I need a Superfly III ASAP!!!
Hahah! Thank you!
Woot!! Finally. This is amazing. Can't wait for the build videos.
🤘😎🤘
I cant wait to cross it off the list! hahaha!
Any news on the build videos? Thinking of doing a Superfly build, after I build my BBX and resurrect my og Boomerang. A parts list would be handy. 😅
this one looks killer
Thank you! I am super excited about it.
I’ve waited years for this video!!!!!
Same here!
Love every bit of it!
Thank you!
Lovely Work, amazed... maybe something for the new buggy DT-03 front shock tower such that strenght is maintained but its not a like a windscreen.
Thank you! Yes I have seen that, it would be stronger for sure.
This is amazing!!! I no longer have any of my Hornets unfortunately (except my Rising Fighter) but I'm glad you still have so much passion for them! Exactly! I have always adored the looks of the car and now they will handle exactly like they look!
Very cool design and a lot of time and effort to get all that worked out and operating properly! Super cool and it looks amazing! Looking forward to the videos to learn more about and I guess I need to start saving for parts now..
Yeah it was a pain but a lot of fun!
Fantastic work as always. Love the design.
Thank you!
Very nice , keep up the amazing work 🏁😎🏁
Thank you!
Cool stuff!
Thank you!

Thanks! All the parts will be in the build video when it is posted. There will be a full bill of materials in the description.
Nice, well done. Can you buy it, as a full set?
Without the body, gears etc of course. Cheers
I wish but that would cost even more on shapeways. They way I have it set up will optimize the build and make it cheaper. Ill have a full BOM when it is ready!
Will there be a way to bundle all of the Superfly 3.0 parts into one package you can buy?
Many of the parts are in sets on shapeways. This will be the most cost effective way to order all the printed parts. Ill have links and part numbers for all the purchased parts.
HRTZ me juust thinkinking bout the freak-quencies being out put...... Can't believe you're ok standing next to em...
They enhance my senses.

Yup, ill have the part numbers and BOM up when the video comes out. They should all be out over the next couple months.

i might have to build a hornet or grasshopper now
Haha! Always good to hear.
Have you considered designing your own complete vehicle?
Yes I have a totally new chassis in the works.
hey on e254 you mde working fans for the udr. im wondering if instead of running the fan wires into the batterys if i could run it to the reciver in the reciver box
Well, the voltage on most receivers isn't high enough usually. On top of that, that could be a bit too much current. Safely, I would say no.
@@AMPROEngineering ok thanks. What if they are only 5 volt fans i mainly just want the blue led look
What do you think of the bbx and mb01 from Tamiya are you going to get them?
I may get the MB01 if that is the chassis Tamiya is putting under the Fiat 131. As for the BBX, easy pass.
So my question is what would it cost to by all the pieces? Essentially what would a super fly 3 kit cost?
Well, I uploaded everything to Shapeways, 5 hours before they went out of business....so at this point, it is only available via home print. I am working on a new print host. Ball park is in MJF which I used, well over $300. Pretty much not worth considering you need lots of other hardware.

Are the STL files for this conversion for sale? I didn't see them for sale in any of your links.
The majority of the car will be on MMF but only when the assembly videos are up. Gimme a few weeks
@@AMPROEngineering Awesome, thanks!
I have a photo of a life size hornet, will hunt for it and try get it to you.
Please do!
Stupid question can I do this to a grasshopper
Well....there are parts of SuperFly 3 that would work on a GH but a lot of the parts are for this car. Things that may work are the rear end, and with some mods to the body, the front suspension. You can see all GH adn Hornet parts on my channel by searching "Ampro Hornet" and "Ampro Grasshopper"
Thank u
Do some real stuff .......not Tamiya stuff ok your great
Technically this is not a Tamiya, lol
