    Tera Shell on Terapagos does mean Fighting moves go from x2 to x0.5 rather than x2 to x1, so it’s better so long as you aren’t running weakness policy and the opponent doesn’t have Tinted Lens.

    • @ArkanumKing
      @ArkanumKing 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It also makes all hits in multi hits be resists rather than just the first one being halved

    • @JustinL186
      @JustinL186 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It does have the advantage of helping multi hit moves too, but it doesn't add any damage mitigation against hits that you already resist. Like if you switch into a strong resisted hit, multi scale is better

  • @peco595
    @peco595 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +21

    I wanna say that Terapago's tera shell ability is a much better multiscale, you're underselling it
    Lunala's and Dragonite's abilities are great and all, but getting hit by that dark type or ice type move respectively is still going to leave them hurting bad unless they predict with tera and resist the hit.
    Terapagos doesn't have that mind game to play, it just flat out resists the move everytime. The only time it isn't straight up better than multiscale is if the multiscale pokemon takes a resisted hit. Anything super or normal effective is gonna hurt more than it would Terapagos, and those situations are much more likely than the resisted hits.

    • @rueblie2627

      I literally don’t know why they made it activate only once per game. Switches aren’t that common in VGC so it wouldn’t be a broken ability by any means. It’s also weird because Ogerpon’s embody aspect activates every time it switches in

    • @Kasaaz
      @Kasaaz 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Yeah, they were making everything only once like that, with Zacian and Zamazenta, etc. Then they reversed themselves with Ogerpon. It's very strange.

    • @ArcherR135
      @ArcherR135 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Supersweet Syrup isn’t bad, what do you mean? Reducing opponent evasion is absolutely insane considering how many good moves have less than 100 accuracy. Bleakwind Storm, Stone Edge, every sleep move except for Spore, Rock Slide, feel free to add more. If Supersweet Syrup activated every time Hydrapple switched in, it’d be absolutely busted

    • @SoggyWafflesXp
      @SoggyWafflesXp 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ArcherR135 I feel like saying that you would also have to apply to intimidate because it does almost the exact same thing, except attack. It was OK to intimidate cycle, but they crossed the line at evasion? I’m not saying that intimidate should be a one time thing as well btw.

    • @ArcherR135
      @ArcherR135 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      @@SoggyWafflesXp Yeah, that's the point. Intimidate is good because it works every time the user switches in, and there's no discussion on if Intimidate is a good ability. If Supersweet Syrup worked every time Hydrapple switched in, there'd be no discussion on if it was a good ability

    I’m surprised no one has called burning bulwark a fire type baneful bunker yet. Like bro how does it get compared to king’s shield before that

    • @sumthinorother9615
      @sumthinorother9615 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      oh so it’s silk trap
      (It’s more useful to compare to King’s Shield because Burn lowers attack, and nobody really cares about it’s damage.)

    • @floorgle
      @floorgle 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      People compare it to kings shield because both dont block status moves, so you can taunt/encore/thunder wave ect even if you use kings shield or burning bulwark, whereas baneful bunker and all of the other protect clones do block status moves when used

    • @cardinal8848
      @cardinal8848 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @sumthinorother9615
      I meant because bulwark and bunker both apply status conditions as opposed to king’s shield and silk trap which lower stat values and can be reset upon switch out which can’t be done for statuses. And technically burn lowers the bp of moves not the attack stat,

    • @cardinal8848
      @cardinal8848 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @floorgle
      Oh that’s interesting, had no idea they didn’t block status moves lol, was just thinking about how bulwark and bunker apply status conditions. thanks for the info man!

    terapagos seems like a mon that you’ll see on most teams cause it seems like a anti meta pick (from what I tested terapagos can survive tera fairy fluttermane, wellspring/hearthflame ivy cudgel and urshifu/hands cc)
    edit: forgot to mention this was with a assault vest set

    In my calcs I kinda prefer QD Sp.Atk on Iron Crown, since it's a win-con pokemon and you want it to end the game shortly after it hits the field. It's a little tricky to set both tailwind and psychic terrain, but it's doable once you eliminate the things that threaten those support pokemon

    I think Terapagos will need a buff coming out of gen 9 (assuming Tera goes away). It deals so much less damage and is mono-normal, meaning it has no super effective STAB. 105 spatk does not help it enough (imo) even with "better multiscale", although it's bulk is quite nice, so just bump it 15 spatk points maximum.
    With Tera, I can see it being a nuisance for our beloved weather wars, as well as helping stuff miraidon and rillaboom like you mentioned, but without Tera I think it'll be a bit if a nothingburger.

      @floorgle 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You dont even need armarougue, hatterene gets expanding force now and is most of the time a much better psychic terrain abuser

    • @willbrolley262
      @willbrolley262 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @floorgle there are certain edge use cases - Hatterene doesn't get Wide Guard, for example, so if you need/want that move she can't provide, and Armarouge provides fire STAB.
      But I do agree that the vast majority of the time she's better for pure Psyspam abuse.

      Also, he gets morning sun which heals 2/3s in the sun, so in sunlight he becomes a walking win condition. Resisted Flare Blitz does more damage than most of his coverage options do. except for certain cases with stone edge, but like. Stone edge accuracy is a hard sell

    I appreciate them looking back at Zacian, but it was just Zacian that was broken with the attack increase on switch. I feel like everything else could have stayed/been on switch rather than once per battle, especially the Terapagos being the not all that powerful off its stats and lacking good recovery.

      The way IVs work at level 50, there'll be a set number where the IVs and EVs interact to give you 2 points in an ability instead of a single once, jumping from (iirc) 196 straight to 198 in a stat with only 4 EV investment.

    Does Tera Starstorm hit terastallized Mons for super effective damage while in Stellar form?
    Also, while Terapagos is kinda cool it will get nerfed extremely with the next generation's games to the point that I wonder if it will get tournament legal by then.
    Unlike Zacian and Zamazenta not only it's signature move loses its effect but it will have to stay in Tera form.

    It's important to note that Tera Starstorm has a stab of 1.2 instead of 1.5. Its a 96BP equivalent, so strong, but not as strong as its 120BP suggests. However coverage* moves also get 1.2x boost which is huge
