@johans3164 Yeah, I know, right? A studio that actually listens to its fans?!? What kind of wacky world are living in where that kind of insanity happens?! I thought they'd just go "screw you, here's a lazy cash-in, now go and see it, and give us your money, now please", but no, they actually listened, put in some honest to God effort, took what worked with SA2B( Sonic Adventure 2: Battle), Sonic Heroes, Shadow The Hedgehog(the self-titled game, not just the character), Sonic CD, Akira, and even Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and threw it all together, and actually pleased people who saw it(myself included), I know they say you can't please everyone, but this time, and with this, the Sonic the Hedgehog film Trilogy, they did please pretty much everybody in the theater. And with me being a longtime Sonic fan myself, who may have started out with The Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog cartoon, the one where he'd give out PSA's at the end of every episode, but I mainly started with both Sonic Adventure games, on the GameCube, but playing them both and seeing this movie taking the bond between Maria(Prof. Gerald Robotnik's granddaughter), and Shadow, aboard the Space Colony ARK(which is where Shadow was imprisoned for 50 years), was surprisingly slightly more accurate than even both SA2 and Shadow's game, (which is where they bring up his backstory), and they made references that DIDN'T feel like they were forced in, just because its supposed to be Sonic Adventure 2's script, adapted to movie form, but felt like they were necessary. Although, they could've used more City Escape...but they did have Dr. Eggman's theme song from SA2, and the main theme song of SA2, and even the iconic pose both Sonic and Shadow do near the end of that game, when both go super, the design of the space colony ARK firing the Eclipse Cannon, and blowing up half of the moon, Prof. Gerald wanting to annihilate literally ALL life on earth because of the events of that game, the final level of the game the Cannon's Core, and even the Security Hall level(even though there's no Rouge), and even GUN themselves, and even recreating the intro to Shadow the Hedgehog where Sonic falls down and Shadow flies at the camera, the motorcycle slide he does, even the gun itself, all recreated, and done well! They tried and took (gasp! ACTUAL time and effort to plan things!) And didn't just lazily throw an amateurish kind of ending to Sonic's film trilogy?! What?! Probably not a coincidence. Voice actors tend to work together on the same projects. Just how it works. I guess the familiarity helps them to act in character since there's none of the movie make-up and sets in place to help them get into the character.

Glad to have been able to pass my love for the blue blur to not only my son but now to Sonic’s newest fan my nephew. Everyone in the crowd we watched with must have all been lifelong fans because I haven’t been in a theater where there was so much cheering and general excitement in a very long time. The midcredit scene was absolute 🔥 and the entire theater exploded into thunderous applause!

The sonic movies are the perfect example of what happens when companies listen to the actual fans, instead of doing what most companies these days do, which is lacking acountability, calling them toxic and then blaming them when the product fails. Crazy how we would have not gotten this third movie, if they had doubled down and kept that awful design. Now we need a forth movie that happens 95% on Sonic's world and then tied up with Earth and the human characters again at the end. That would be amazing!
@@Lightning_Wolf567 eh it kind of outstayed its welcome. And clearly as just a way to shoehorn in some other actors in. I molded itself to the plot, but them being there was not necessary to the plot. As evidenced by Sonic doing the thing w/o them actually accomplishing what they went in there for.
@Zeratultheking they're under contract to actually be in the film. So the fact they involved them and still helped moved the plot forward, and not some pointless side plot like in 2, just shows how improved this one is
It's insane how much this trilogy succeeded to the point where even other videogame films can now succeed. And nearly a decade ago we'd thought it couldn't be done. Thank you Sonic.
Yeah I know. It's insane how the Sonic the Hedgehog films, have done so well, and took details from the cartoons, comics, and even callbacks to other Sonic games like Heroes, CD, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Knuckles even being afraid of ghosts, Dr. Eggman's theme song, them ACTUALLY having the main theme song of SA2 IN the movie, is insane! I'm not dreaming; am I? Like this live action film series about Sonic isn't just something I dreamed up while sleeping through the movie, was it? Same with the other 2 films, I just have to ask, I am awake, and i didn't dream up this trilogy of films about one of my favorite game/comic/cartoon characters of all time, being THIS good, did I? These really happened, and they're not just dreams in our heads; are they? The name of the cannon, the team up between Eggman, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow is something that DID happen during the movie and SA2, right? And this movie does justify it happening. Sure, there's no Rouge the Bat, or Bio-Lizard, or King of Ghosts from Pumpkin Hill(a level in SA2), Knuckles shattering the Master Emerald, etc. but these things are just some small and tiny nitpicks from me. I loved each and every single Sonic movie, as a longtime fan of the games, and also Jim Carrey, everything in these films is handled with care and appreciation of its fans, and doesn't just do something lazy, and call it a day, when that's what they could've done with any one of these movies, but they didn't. They put out some honest to god effort into this, and none of it felt forced in for the sake of just being a reference. Not even the human characters, even when they use the hologram tech, which feels more like Mission Impossible, (but, hey, at least they're self-aware about it). Also, sorry if I'm rambling on too long here. I'm just glad that Sega, and everyone involved with the Sonic film trilogy tried so hard to deliver on a really good series of films. It definitely is insane, and even more insane that they did them ALL so well. They managed to make 3, back to back video game movies and did them all thoughtfully, and have actual heart in them. None of these movies feel like they're just lame, generic kids films to me. They all feel like they're what Sonic the Hedgehog should be.
@@shawnfields2369 Sonic 3 is the best film in human existence aside from Passion of the Christ. Sonic 3 is basically Bleach Thousand Year Blood War Arc, Naruto Shippuden, Gundam, Dragon Ball Z, Asura's Wrath, God of War, and One Punch Man COMBINED
@danielsmithiv1279 I mean, I love Bleach, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Naruto/Naruto Shippuden (although, I haven't seen any of Boruto yet though), and DBZ was the very first anime I ever saw and the first manga I ever read as a kid, with them going to Namek, and Bulma, Gohan, and Krillin. I didn't know who they were yet, but I was excited by it. I do like God of War and Asura's Wrath, a shame it only got the one game though. And I missed the final parts of Bleach...and the Thousand-Year Blood arc thing that you're talking about, and yes, I am ashamed of myself as a fan of Bleach for missing it, considering that Johnny Yong Bosch is my favorite voice actor and all. I'm not a fan of Gundam,(but I've tried to get into the series though), and I haven't seen Passion of The Christ myself. And I've never seen One Punch Man either, but I've heard of it. But yes, Sonic 3 is one of the best film adaptations in both human and hedgehog history. Now, we need to do the same for other popular Sega franchises before we return to Sonic, like for example, Yakuza, or even Virtua Fighter.
Super Mario was better to be honest, but sonic is solid as well. I’d personally love to see a legend of Zelda animated adaptation that would be really really cool I think if it’s done right.

@@JuliusTurner-hm6ffI don't like the second movie very much because of that goddamn wedding sequence. Also, why is Maddie's sister always appearing in every single movie of this franchise?
This movie is honestly one of my favorites already. It's an amazing Sonic movie and just movie in general. The last half had me all giddy in the theater. 2 Jim Carreys alone made this movie perfect not even mentioning Keanu as Shadow, a fan cast come to life. I just love this movie so much.
While some aren't gonna be happy with the Shadow story changes, I feel like they work for this film franchise, which IS a different continuity from the games. It still gives Shadow the overall heart needed for the character. Keanu actually full on delivered. He had some really good moments. "What was his name.....Tom?" absolute CHILLS. Ohhhh never seen Sonic THAT pissed. Also yes the fans DESPERATELY wanted Keanu as Shadow. It was really between two camps; Robert Pattinson and Keanu Reeves. People felt that Reeves' raspy voice would fit Shadow. But others felt that after doing Batman, Robert would do Shadow justice as both Shadow and Batman have a lot in common. However, in a recent behind the scenes, it's revealed that Keanu WANTED to be Shadow as well. And he did his research. You can tell. He cares about the character.
the important thing is that the changes are done in a way that serves the character and story of the medium, while also not going too far away that it become an entirely different story.
I also saw Hayden Christensen thrown in as Shadow which....would've been...interesting. I saw an animation of Battinson as Shadow and kinda wish we had gotten that tbh. But Keanu really did do a good job as the dark hedgehog. You can tell he wasn't just there for the paycheck.
because it was more of rumored that Hayden Christensen was being casted, the fan base slowly welcomed the idea after use of youtube videos having animatics and such using Star Wars audio, that hyped people up on the idea of Hayden being Shadow. But for the longest time, Keanu was hyped much longer so the internet is still excited since it's still a fan casting that people wanted
I never get the Hayden glaze. He was extremely okay in the Prequel movies. If Darth Vader wasn't such an iconic villain previously to them coming out, I hardly doubt Christensen would've made him iconic. He isnt a bad actor, but there are far better, and his voice does not remotely compare to Keanu's for this portrayal of the character.
3:39 PREACH IT, brother. Keanu has always been an awesome guy but I never felt like he was "great" at acting, it's mostly always been about his physicality and commitment. But as Johnny Silverhand he is simply incredible and I was in awe during his speeches. Johnny is a bastard and I love him.
I genuinely think people forget that humans have been part of Sonic lore, and particularly Shadow's story, since Sonic Adventure 2. What Jeremy said about GUN and and humans in this movie was really weird to me. They're literally. as involved in Shadow's backstory as they are in the games. In fact, a lot less so, come to think of it, if you take Shadow's 2005 game into consideration. And also when you consider that-- SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE In the movie Maria's death wasn't even caused on purpose. like it was in the game. She wasn't even shot by a GUN solider in the movie. And they also specifically toned down the conflict Shadow had with the GUN commander, too. There was none of that in the movie.
@@Basedbrawler Yep, I definitely heard it during the firing of Eclipse Cannon, like literally, some of the lyrics, are playing right there, during that part.
Took my family and sisters family to see on 24th. We all loved it, and the kids likewise. My 4 year old daughter is still roleplaying Shadow several days later, and I am Sonic so we race. Good fun. Movie worked on a bunch of levels and whether newbies or nostalgic 30-40 year old's, we all got plenty of enjoyment out of it. For me, the best movie of the 3. Fewer humans except Robotnik, who we got double of, but played in a fun way by Carey who looked like he was having a blast. I'm surprised you didn't say, but I thought Knuckles had a ton of good lines in this movie, and they did a good job of making the 3 of them, and Shadow, all unique. Mature stories told through a lens that kids could understand, whilst not patronising adults. There was also a bunch of fan service. I don't regularly go movies, but when I do, it's to reward movies that are proud of their fans and have no problem playing up to them. I feel like they really are getting the hang of that with these movies.

Although, they could've used more
City Escape...but they did have
Dr. What?! People are still trying to make good movies? What is this insanity? Seriously though; I loved the movie from beginning to end. And even the end credits scenes. And also, sorry for going on too long. I just thought it was really good, and I was surprised at how much they cared enough about this movie and what they put into it, like the other 2 Sonic films. And that concludes my essay, thank you.
*It feels like the movies are doing better than most of the games!*

@@Zeratulthekingit's a live-action movie. Why do people expect there to be no humans at all?
@Zeratultheking they're under contract to actually be in the film. So the fact they involved them and still helped moved the plot forward, and not some pointless side plot like in 2, just shows how improved this one is
I was not expecting that scene between Robotnik and Stone to be the most emotional part of the movie.

Shadow story is still pretty faithful to the games Jeff Fowler truly is one of us
I knew it was never going to happen, but I wanted Christian Bale.

I approve of that last second Anakin roast. It made me laugh for very personal reasons.
I've seen some on the internet demanded Hayden Christensen. Then Keanu was cast and the internet said...okay.
because it was more of rumored that Hayden Christensen was being casted, the fan base slowly welcomed the idea after use of youtube videos having animatics and such using Star Wars audio, that hyped people up on the idea of Hayden being Shadow. But for the longest time, Keanu was hyped much longer so the internet is still excited since it's still a fan casting that people wanted
I’ve always been hyped for Keanu . That was actually my first thought of who should voice Shadow before it was announced .
Props to Uncle Jeremy for heaving his priorities straight.
Family above all else. Never apologize for that Jeremy
And also when you consider that--
SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE
In the movie Maria's death wasn't even caused on purpose. like it was in the game. She wasn't even shot by a GUN solider in the movie. And they also specifically toned down the conflict Shadow had with the GUN commander, too. There was none of that in the movie.
Jeremy isn’t a big Sonic fan, probably doesn’t realise how big of a part humans have in Sonic lore which is why they’re in the movies.
I can't wait to take my boys to see this! Merry Christmas, Jeremy!
