I recently bought the gtx 1060 max q 6gb version with 16gb ram for $195 at my local pawnshop. I have no regrets, it's done everything I wanted plus some.
Lol the best deal I seen was the one my cousin got, a laptop with gtx 1060 (Normal) and 7th gen i7,it had 12GB cuz the seller added a 4gb with the stock 8gb. No boot drives so he had to buy his own ssd. The total cost after storage and stuff is 350$
I bought that exact same laptop from the local Facebook marketplace for around $350, and after upgrading it to 16 gigs of ram; a m.2 and a ssd, it runs perfectly. Can it play the latest games? No, not really but it allows me and my girlfriend to play wow together amongst other non graphical games just fine.
Actually it can play some newer games no problem, I have tried God of War (1080p @30), Forza Horizon 5 (FSR Ultra Quality 1080p @60 avg) Doom Eternal (1080p mixed settings @60), Red Death Redemption 2 (1080p mix settings @30). Those are just some of the games I've tried, it's doable, provided you consider 30 fps in some games playable, which I do
@@SpaceLion949 30 fps is definitely playable. I haven’t tried many newer games on it, because I have my desktop for it. But good to know I can play a game like RDR2 on it.
I used a 7200rpm hard drive from Alienware for years before SSD’s were super common and it did me well. It still good enough that it is now the 4th drive in my 15r3 and I use it for retro games and music
Yep, they did something wrong or HDD is broken. I saw laptops with HDD, 4GB RAM and weaker processor booting much faster into Win 10. Downloading anything was not a problem - even crappiest HDD is much faster than internet.
You almost might want to just buy a modern laptop with either Radeon APU graphics or intel Iris Xe graphics at this point. You would get a lighter machine with better efficiency and battery life and probably gaming performance on par with this.
Integrated graphics are not on par with a laptop 1060 yet unless we’re talking intel 12th gen desktop igpu. But if you’re all about that battery and lightness then it’s your best bet
@@alexarnold6773 My eyesight is trash so if I have to game at 720p it's no big deal as long as I get a solid 60 fps in some form because I can feel the framerate but I don't so much as notice the little details in visuals.
Im playing the last Batman the heavy one and at 900p max setings it barely dips below 60fps and i know that game is very hard to run deux ex mankind diveded also a very hard one to run but at 900p max setings 60 fps on average.
i paid £230 for a used Clevo Style Note on eBay a couple of weeks ago. 8 year old laptop but with the i7-4800MQ, 12GB DDR3 RAM and GTX 780M 4GB it is pretty solid for a cheap laptop - it also came with a 128GB mSATA SSD and a 1TB hard drive. I say that was a pretty solid deal. You're also RAM bandwidth bottlenecked I think (if you didn't double up on the sticks)
I have the exact or a very similar laptop, the HDD it came with was close to unusable even when brand new, I had to upgrade it to an SSD as soon as I could. Some years later Windows started to consume way more RAM than it used to, that gave a lot of FPS drops so I upgraded the RAM. Once you do these upgrades, the laptop is perfectly usable, I went with a 256GB M.2 so the HDD is still OK for storing games. The 1050 has managed to impress me, I have been able to run almost every game I wanted, the only one that I would have to run at 720p 30 fps is Cyberpunk 2077 but other AAA titles can be played at 1080, you would have to adjust and optimize your settings but it definitely can be done
I've had pretty much the exact same experience and (barring some recent overheating from heavy games) I'm still happy with how it's working. Great investment from 5 years ago
Yea, that little CPU is very slow for sure, I have the same laptop, much better with 16GB of RAM tho. Still fine for a lot of games and productivity applications
I paid $400 flat, no tax, at a pawn shop for a Lenovo Legion with a 1050ti, and that thing is actually quite good. With an ssd upgrade, it's basically as good as my 2060 Legion was, it just doesn't have the same graphical power, but it can still get the job done for a majority of games and programs. Just not 7 Days To Die unless it's on low everything.
I bought a 1 month of usage 3060 and 10500h 16gbs laptop from my local. It was like a complete new one. He did a fresh reset of the pc which was nice. and I managed saving 500 dollars on it. it runs the lastest games on high~ultra @60fps andwas absolutely worth it. I later bought a p31 1tb ssd and put it in becasue the existing 512gbs model was not quite enought for it. having 1.5tbs of m.2 is really nice.
I picked up an msi ge75 raider with an i7 10750h, rtx 2070 115W, 16gb 2933mhz, 512gb SSD, 1tb HDD, 144hz display. Picked it up for $750 a couple days ago still has the box also came with a wireless mouse
I have one with an Intel Skylake and 950m, god it just sucks, for 3 years the laptop is barely usable, the screen is now broken too due to my family and I moving to another house, which at the time we paid people to move our stuff including my laptop to the newer house, my theory is that the one who placed it in the moving truck placed it too hard sadly. The laptop is not usable anymore with Windows 10 running slow and the screen gone to crap. I think the peformance part is caused by the HDD though.
