Hi Margaret. I'm watching while cranking my Addi! Haha! I'm not cheating. Made 260 hats for charity last year and didn't hear one person say I cheated. I was able to bless others and for that I am thankful. I have both Addis and gave my little pink machine to two little girls who have thoroughly enjoyed making scarves and premie hats. Thank you for the updated video. Blessings!
I have watched at least 4 of your videos covering these knitting machines and I have to say that all of them are extremely thorough. Thank you so much for putting your passion into helping those of us know before we decide to buy. I am considering purchasing the Addi, but I’ll definitely be saving for it as because of this time (2022) the Addi has jumped up extremely high since the time of this video, but saving for it won’t hurt at all. Thank you again.
What a lovely compliment! Thank you so much for the kind words! I did review a second Sentro and had better luck if that interests you. The people that sent it to me offer a discount with my code. You can see that experience here: th-cam.com/video/NwflyYm2dK8/w-d-xo.html
Margaret I see you are still at it! A bunch of my friends and I are Loom and machine users and we have found many places to donate our hats and scarves to. We couldn't be happier! One thing I have discovered is...the machines that have the tensioners on them don't want you to actually do anything with tensioning to yarn once you get it into the proper tensioning hole. My Sentro works so much better if I don't touch the yarn! It also would be a good thing to do a tutorial on using those tensioners, and show the vast difference there is between just two adjacent holes! I just did that the other day and I wish I could send you the pictures somehow, but I don't know where I would send it. Keep up the good work young lady. We are all depending on you! God bless you! I love watching your old videos and I don't mind that they go a little slower. That's how I learned how to do this. Thank you
Thank you, Cookie! I haven't used my machines in a while but I may have to drag one out for a tensioner use tutorial! (I tend to cycle through phases with my crafting and right now I've been on a "crochet things I've never done" kick! Ha!)
Margaret, your tutorials were so helpful in getting me started two years ago. I viewed this clip today and learned a thing or two that I didn’t know. Thanks for your commitment!
So helpful Margaret and one of the most friendly and helpful people on You Tube. Thank you for making this video and always being so informative. Scott
Just purchase a ADDI. Excellent beginners tutorial. I'm a regular knitter, but want to be able to knit faster for charity. Thanks for your video.👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼
What a nice compliment! Thank you, Terri! Now that you actually own the machine, you may like this one better: Beginner Tips for Circular Knitting Machines | Addi Express and more! th-cam.com/video/cNa5SBkeWuk/w-d-xo.html
Margaret, I just pulled my Addi (King) out of storage and it feels great to use it again. So happy with your updated video and everything you've said. I used Loops N Threads years ago because that worked well for many. I made an infinity scarf/cowl with Caron Latte (based on another video) and it came out beautifully! I too, have hand pain (arthritis) and needed a break from my needles. I'm so happy to be using it again and trying new things...and connecting with you and your extremely nice and helpful videos. :)
My friend has a machine like this and he loves to use it! He has cerebral palsy and his dexterity isn't that great, but he has one hand and arm that work just fine and it cranks this well. It's great that he can do this independently!
Oh Margaret Margaret Margaret! Thank you for going over all this. I review all your videos often but it's nice how compact this one is. Have a great week!
Hi Margaret! Still loving your videos on the addi express! I've actually found a novel way of tensioning my yarn. I actually have the yarn wrapped around one or two of the legs of the machine and then allow it to run up into the yarn feeder. For me this has actually fixed the issue of dropped and tucked stitches which seemed to happen so much to me when I was hand tensioning. My technique may not work for everyone but it has certainly helped when I use the addi kingsize. Please keep doing all of your amazing videos! We love them here in Australia!
Glad you found a good trick! This is actually something that recommended a lot for those with handicaps OR machines they’ve automated in some way! Works like a charm And can be adjusted to increase or decrease tension. Just be sure to keep you eye on your yarn as you can’t feel an upcoming “surprise “ knot that could cause problems!
@@sheepishlysharing fabulous idea! I figured I must've picked it up from somewhere, obviously one of your videos then 😀 Yes a surprise knot has got me once or twice... Haha
Oh Margaret , I think you're just the sweetest. I want to let you know i got my first circular knitting machine today and right out of the box I was able to make a hat with the yarn provided . Youre right about certain yarns not working. I had a skein from dollar tree and it was horrible even with weights, etc. So i learned my lesson and ran a skein of caron simply soft and it was beautiful. I am looking forward to doing more tomorrow ?
This was very informative, you covered all my questions and then some. Hats off to you for all the work you did in gathering all this information and sharing it on TH-cam for free. Carry on ... I’m listening. I may purchase a cheap little knitting machine and play with it first. I can always advance and give the cheap one to my granddaughters.🥰
Thank you for the compliment! I've got lots of tutorials on my channel (though keep in mind some are old... before I learned how to edit properly. Ha!)
I love your comments, you have explained so much about the variables with this machine. I am thinking of getting one and I know when/if I buy one I will be so well informed. Thank you.
What a lovely compliment, Serena! Thank you! I'm so glad I could spare you the "learn as you go" method I had to employ when I got my first machine. There was little to NO info on these things back then! Ha!
You are such a beautiful person and there are cruel people out there so don't give them the satisfaction of hurting you they will eventually regret hurting other people. God bless you and your channel.
Hi Margaret, haven't tuned in for some time now. I have to say you look absolutely great, never better! I have watched you from nearly your beginning and glad to see you still going strong. I like what you are saying and thinking about knitting machines. If you recall I have many flat bed machines, I'm an instructor and remember when you bought yours. Keep doing what you are doing and I appreciate you and promise to not stay away so long.
Hi, Tom! Thanks for the kind words! You inspired me to buy a flat bed but shortly after I did, I began to have problems with it and (bought from ebay) and the thought of sending it off for repairs put this procrastinator in a spin. I still have it but... 😳
I’m a digital artist who paints my work on my iPad. There’s a lot of snobbery from traditional artists who think that my art is invalid because of this. My position is that art comes from the soul and the tools used are just away of getting it out there. A traditional artist may use canvas, a paintbrush and pigment, I use a screen, stylus and pixels. The end result is what matters, not how you get there. The same goes for knitting.... I think your videos are great. You have a lovely warm personality that shines out of your videos (and a delightful Southern accent, music to these Scottish ears 🙂). I’ve been loom knitting for a few months and stumbled across one of your videos by accident which has led me to ordering a Prym machine. It arrives tomorrow and I can’t wait to try it out. Keep up the good work!
Art DOES come from the soul, Graeme! Mixed media art popped into my mind when you were describing your work... art can be made from anything and beauty is in the eye of the beholder! The whole reason I started a TH-cam channel was because my friends were making fun of me for picking up yarn crafting because it was so out-of-character for me (I'm a technology person) AND they thought it was an "old lady" craft. So I rolled my eyes at them for putting me in a "box" and went out to find my own yarn-loving friends! Ha! Being a techno nerd, I find your art intriguing! Do you have a website or blog? I'd love to see! Oh, and thank you for the kind words! It's such a treat to wake up to positive, encouraging comments!
Margaret Olander You’re welcome. It’s a good feeling to make someone happy, even in such a small way, we should all be doing more of it 🙂 Your videos do that for me and I’m sure many others as well. I can’t wait to try out some of your techniques later when my machine is delivered. My friends laughed at my new “old lady” hobby too, but they’re all wearing their hats 😂 I post most of my art on my Instagram account @gfunk79. Hope you enjoy. Have a great day!
I got interested in circular knitting machines by accident, a video showing the big Addi. Got me hook, line & sinker. I would LOVE to buy the big Addi, just can't afford it right now. I found a Sentro, figured I'd "test the waters" then get the Addi later. I figured this would be a way for me to make a little money on the side. I'm so glad I found your channel.
This was a very helpful video. I haven’t been able to knit for over ten years as I have Carpo tunnel in both wrists and arthritis in both hands. I had seen these machines before but thought they were very limiting, you have changed my mind...thus I will search for a machine for myself. Again Thankyou for a great video!
I'm sorry you're struggling with pain, Natalie, but I do understand a bit since having to deal with my own joint problems! Here's a playlist of all my circular machine videos which include some reviews: th-cam.com/play/PLV9cndFtR5BVQrjZ7X1f0HRTV92kscJf2.html I also provide links for where I purchased mine if that will be helpful.
Margaret..so good to see this video from you! I would never speed up your older videos...I love listening to you. Keep making Addi ones please...they are very much appreciated. Ps...your hair is so beautiful..very jealous lol
Although I have no desire at this time for a knitting machine, well done, all great info. Have a lovely week! (Let's hope it dries up soon here in the South!)
Awww... I'm sorry you had to struggle through the learning process! Here's my Addi playlist and you'll find the Beginner Tips video very helpful (if you haven't already figured it all out!) Addi Playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLV9cndFtR5BVQrjZ7X1f0HRTV92kscJf2.html
So glad to see you back, I was getting a bit concerned. Thanks for the review. I would like a machine but I’m still on the fence. It is always great to hear your very honest and straight forward reviews. They are a great help. Thank you.
Was just gonna mention that a sewing machine is not cheating as others have mentioned!! Plus, this is just another way to knit. I'm 55 and have knit since I was 7. I don't knit as well as I used to, and I can knit eastern, western. My fine motor skills too are not what they once were and medicine affects that too. Also, I find knitting many of the sweaters that are popular today (yards and yards of stockinette) so boring to knit. Knitting machine to the rescue I say! And there's no reason why I couldn't pick up stitches and knit some portions by hand too, rIght?! Thank you so much for this video; it's so very helpful.
What a cheerful comment to wake up to, Carol! Thank you! And yes, picking up stitches is a common thing to do for those who DO know how to knit. (I even have a video to show how to put a crochet brim on a hat for those who don't.)
Hi, Margaret, I want to thank you for your telling us about your charity giving. I just fully retired and am going to be making blankets (crocheted, loom knitted and sewn) for the charity “The Binky Patrol” . They give blankets and hats and gloves to babies through teens who are in foster care or the hospital, etc. It’s a national charity. Have you ever heard of them? I have Parkinson’s and want to do as much as I can before I can’t do it! I’m so grateful for you opening this door for me! Love you! 😊💞💕💞
That's wonderful, Judy! Cookie (see her comment below) has a friend with advanced Parkinson's who uses an Addi to continue her charity work! She's amazing!!
Margaret, I own both flatbed knitting machines (8 of them), and the Addi King and Pro. I love all of my machines, and use them differently. For sweaters, socks, special knit design scarves with beading and large blankets I use my flatbeds. To whip up a hat & scarf and stuffed animals, I use my Addi machines. I love them all. I had some leftover yarn from previous projects and decided to make a large throw this past week-end. I had it made in approximately 4 hrs of knitting (66" wide x 63" long) - made on my flatbed. I always laugh when someone tells me this is not knitting. Usually after I show them the end product, they tend to have less critical comments to make. I will ask them how long would it take them to hand knit a California King blanket; and then I tell them how long it takes me to make the same blanket on my flatbed--end of argument (LOL). We need to enjoy our knitting tools and let the critical comments of other float off into the ozone!!
You're exactly right, Kelley! Thanks for sharing this! The thing that puzzles me most is how ANGRY some people seem to get... as if we're offending them in some way! Ah, well... you can't please everybody.
I have just started watching circular knitting machine videos and find them so relaxing. I am a crocheter and painter but have lately been getting some swelling and aching in my finger joints and it panics me that I wont be able to do my creative hobbies. Im going too try and save up for a machine but they are quite expensive here in Australia so Im hoping for a sale at some stage lol Im off to watch the rest of your videos now :)
Oh, Scarlet... I know how you feel! I honestly have never seen the Addi brands go on sale here in the U.S. but the prices seem to vary on the knock offs... and there ARE some good knockoffs!
I do charity work too and bought hubby one as he is arthritic and cannot keep tension with crochet,we got a machine from lincraft in Australia when they had a 50 percent of sale and got one for $50 we didn't want to spend a lot not knowing if he'd like it, he loves looming so he is liking the machine but we did notice the hats are not large enough for adult beanies,he's also having is issues with stitches dropping, but it's a learning process for him and he is loving being able to help our charity drives
Thank you for your remarks on sock heels. I took my small Addi out of the box over a year ago, struggled so much with sock heels I put it back again and haven’t touched it since. I now realise I was trying to run before I could even crawl. Will now make tube socks with after thought heels and toes.
You're not alone, Sylvia! Most people buy these machines believing them to be some magic production machines but videos DO make it seem so easy but there's so much more that goes into it, isn't there?! Have fun!
Really helpful video. I'm trying to decide which circular knitting machine I want to buy. Machine knitting or loom knitting is definitely not cheating.
Hello Margaret! I haven't been on a knitting site for a while. I've been moving but it's nice to see you and hear your voice again. I don't know what I would have done in a beginning of my knitting machine life if I hadn't found you! My friend and the nursing home finally got both sizes of Addi machines... and is going like crazy making narrow scarves and wide scarves and hats! You would be very proud of her. I am! She had very many just sell at the Bazaar the nursing home had last Christmas. Various people come by and see her in her room knitting and they buy from her. I wish there was a way that a person with Parkinson's as bad as she has it could make the tension more even though. Any suggestions? She's a great crafter and has wonderful color ideas. Thank you for helping make her life and my life better and thank you for being part of drawing the two of us back together. She and I went to HighSchool together! We are now in our 70s. Keep up the great work Margaret! God bless you greatly.
Hi, Cookie! What a great story about your friend! And yes... there are ways to increase the tension without using your left hand at all, like putting the yarn on the floor, wrapping it once around the table leg or more if more tension is required. The "drag" creates some tension. You could also try things like setting something like a tissue box on top of the yarn. Heavy enough to create drag but not too heavy that it stops the yarn altogether!
Hi, Cookie, I just saw your post and want to thank you for encouraging me! I have Parkinson’s and for now I can crochet, it mainly affects my walking but I was worried about what I would do when it affected my hands. You have encouraged me to know that I can find other ways to be productive! I’m excited! Thanks for sharing and a big thanks to Margaret who told me about your Post!! 😊💕💞💕💞
Got my Addi Kingsize 3 days ago , but securing it to a work surface was issue. Solved the problem with a $1 piece of foam core board. Cut the board in half then positioned my machine at the angle I wanted to work with it. Traced the feet on one piece of the foam core and cut holes with craft knife. Placed it on the second half and clamped the 2 sheet stack to my work surface. Now my machine stays put. If you have a big table, you might buy 2 sheets of foam core to fit width of your table. You can make this foam core sheet set any size up to the width of the foam core. Now you can place your machine where you want it to be!
Well thank you, Sonia, but while editing, I was so distracted by that poof on on side. I rarely look at myself in the view finder (other than to make sure I'm in frame) so this should be a lesson to myself to pay more attention! Ha!
You are such an inspiration, Margaret! I just started crocheting and have had issues with needle knitting so I’ve been looking at circular knitting machines. Thank you for all your amazing information! I’m saving up for the Addi machine 😊
Thanks for the sweet words, Rob! I had issues learning to knit, too, and that's what led me to these machines in the first place! Fortunately, I kept trying and knitting eventually "clicked" for me but I still love circular machine knitting. My brain just loves yarn. Period.
Margaret Olander You’re so welcome! I’m not going to give up with the needles but I love that there are other options. I may try the generic or Sentro to start and see how I like it before getting the Addi machine but from what I’ve seen, the Addi is the best! Thank you again for all the wonderful info!
Thank you so much for your thorough and concise info regarding these machines. I am also doing charity work and want to be able to do more with my limited time. I have a knitting machine but they are space hogs and for hats , these smaller, rounder machines are so much more practical. Your reviews are oh so helpful. Tha k you!
Thanks for the kind words, Pam, and I watch videos about other people's hobbies all the time like diamond painting for example! I don't want to do it but I like watching others do it! Ha! Another reason to love TH-cam!
Wow I’m hoping I found the right video to answer most all my questions your such a good teacher , I’ve found a lot of videos for addi but I’m so happy just with yours. You go further than a simple yes or no yes I’m still practicing on my new machines my most difficulties I have has been choosing a really good cast on I’ve tried the normal wrap one skip one now working on E wrap seems I’m doing something wrong as I get to about the third or fourth round I seem to make a lot of skipped stitches how ever I have made ‘‘tis work to my advantage in some ways by chrome to up the gaps like a braid or rib no matter I’m not giving up by no means with your videos my encouragement stays high thank you so much my teacher . Yes I do look at other peoples styles as well if for no other reason maybe a new tip . Love and bless your heart
So interesting Margaret! I don’t use a knitting machine but if I ever wanted to make socks, this is the way to go. I’m relieved to know I’m not the only one who gets hostile comments from time to time. I honestly do not understand how a simple tutorial for a yarn craft can spark such attitude. 😂😂😂 I think they are missing the point in having a hobby. ❤️
Agreed about the comments. I must admit that the ugly comments are few and far between but they can sting, can't they? I have to remind myself that people who feel it's OK to cause pain on purpose must have their own issues to work on!
Margaret Olander oh they have issues for sure! 😂😂😂 I am grateful they have been a minor part of this, but I don’t understand why accepting verbal abuse is a normalized part of being on youtube. It makes me very sad for society that people feel empowered to be ugly to nice older ladies who are doing nothing more than sharing hobbies online. 😥 (I’m older than you for sure, but in general over 30 is “older” in terms of youtube culture) I delete the insulting and inappropriate comments and block those people. I don’t want others to feel afraid to leave comments or ask questions, so I make sure my comments section is friendly for all. What a world we live in! ❤️
Margaret, I have a flat bed knitting machine years ago that I use to make my children’s school sweaters on it and for friends children. It was great BUT I could make the sweat in far less time than it took to sew the sweaters together. So the circular machine would be so much better in that case.
It would if you had very skinny children! (Remember the tube sizes I shared!) I think an attachment for your flatbed probably would have been the ideal solution in that case but I love knowing you did that for all the kids! What a lovely image, Bev!
Margaret Olander I don’t think they had the circular attachment back then, I’m talk 40 years ago. It was a Brother brand machine and I also has the ribber bed as well.
I just came across this video and I want to thank you for all your information, I personally want to purchase the big addi machine because I am having difficulty crocheting now since I have been doing it for 33 years
World is full of different people, with diferente worries and experience. As a begginer knitter I was under stress and once I said "loom knitting isn't knitting". But I use a knitdoll for icord. So I pushed that stress to the environment that makes me happy. We all mistake and we all learn. Knitting doesn't have absolute rules to say what is cheat and don't.
Great timing! I meant to try the 40 needle machine and this reminded me of that. I have both Addi's and love them! You are so right, it is simply another tool. No cheating involved! lol
That is great to hear. I have been hoping for a machine that was a bit smaller than the large Addi, but larger than the small, so I think this will be perfect. I only use it to make hats for babies in my portrait studio, so that's great. Thanks for the update!
having some kind of crochet, or knitting skills will help you. I got some negative comments about it saying my finished items weren't knit on the Addi.
Thanks, Sandy, and yes it has... the job I thought I passed on to someone else fell back in my lap as she had to have emergency surgery so now I have her responsibilities and my own, too! Even busier!
Im so glad you mentioned when people say its cheating its still knitting i still enjoy doing both but its quicker for me to make some quick cash if i want to take my time ill knit or crochet
I decided to get the circular knitter because there will come a time where I won't be able to hold knitting needles at some point. The circular machines ARE fun. And boy, are they fast. I can turn out a nice hat in 30 minutes. Everyone in my extended family got hats.
What a great video, your voice is lovely. You are just full of information. Thanks for sharing. I’d like to make some socks, someday. Appreciate your time, hugs, Linda
Wow, so much information but so easy to understand. Thank you for all the links in your description. I will check them out. I hadn’t heard of it ‘being ok’ to use #3 yarn. I learned a lot and will definitely be scouring your channel. I just got both Addi’s and practicing and learning. It’s fun too!
So much helpful information! If I may, it would be incredibly helpful if one could turn on subtitles. Not only for people who are hard of hearing like myself but also for those who may understand things better written out, or even watch without sound so as to not bother whoever they may be in the room with. You enunciate really well, but every now and then a word will slip for lots of people. For example, I found myself very curious about the garment addi knitter you mentioned but there was no link to where she shares her content and your heavy American accent made it a bit difficult to properly figure out her name, so I wasn’t able to find her. But aside from all that, a really great video! I definitely had a lot of my nibbling questions answered despite owning an addi and having used it plenty. 🤗 Thank you! (And also, structuring the video with time stamps for specific questions was so so useful! Wish everybody did this!)
I have a heavy SOUTHERN American accent which may complicate things! Fatima only shares her pictures on her personal page these days so unfortunately I can't give out any links. And the "chapter feature" (timestamps) is relatively new to TH-cam! We could always list it out like that in the description box but NOW TH-cam will automatically divide the video up for us! I just recently set that up on this older video just the other day!
I enjoyed the video, and am saving up for a Addie. Can you do more videos with closed captions please. I miss some info because I don't always hear right lol. Thanks for sharing
I used to pay my son to check the auto closed captioning for me but neither of us has time! It takes HOURS to shoot and edit videos so I've had to rely on TH-cam's auto CC as of late. Sometimes it has trouble with my accent and it certainly doesn't know what an Addi Machine is! Not a good solution but I am aware of it.
Thanks for the update! I love circular knitting either by crank or hook! I have tons of pain too, Margaret..I switch back n forth between projects, all the time. Them rotten commenters are just jealous cuz they have no talents at all!
Hi, Susan! Yes, you've been a long time circular knitting buddy!! Sorry you're battling pain, too. Mine is much better most of the time now. I began to notice the biggest change when I got serious about my anti-inflammatory diet. HUGE difference! Hope you find something to help control yours. It's not fun. 😢
@@sheepishlysharing I might have to check out that kind of diet! I take anti inflammatory medications..but it still doesn't help. I see doc in about two weeks to see about getting a wheelchair..so when snow melts I can actually get outside more..n get fresh air..well I'm not sure how "fresh" it is anymore..lol. Thank you sweetie...your the best!
Is there a pattern book to help with making garments, like sweaters, dresses? Thank you for your video, you are very pleasant and knowledgeable. I appreciate your help.
I have many hobbies, and I get hateful comments, but do not let any of them bother me. I get so much pleasure from hobbies that they greatly outweigh any negativity. ❤️
Most people don’t buy weights. I talk about them in this video: Beginner Tips for Circular Knitting Machines | Addi Express and more! th-cam.com/video/cNa5SBkeWuk/w-d-xo.html
On just about every device, the description box is below the video. I don't have an iPad at the moment to give you exact directions but on my iPhone X Max, you click on the drop-down symbol to the right of the video title. (Holding it vertically, the video plays at the top; the title is just under it and the drop-down symbol is a tiny triangle that points down and it will be to the right of the title. When you tap it, the description box is revealed.)
I was really inspired to get this thing yesterday... But I do not get something - why ppl buy hats that blow through even folded twice? Usually when I knit a woolen hat on 4mm (US 6) needles, I get to cast on some 90 sts. How can 46 sts work for a warm hat??!!
Margret, I just bought both sizes of addi’s and I have a real problem….I have owned these for 3 weeks and work on them daily but on the larger one I cannot get an entire row without at least 8-10 dropped stitches. I have watched every video I could find along with about 10 different yarns all #4. I have tons of weights and every other gadgets suggested. If you have a hint for me I will still be setting at my addi. Thanks!
I'm sorry, Debbie, but the only words of wisdom I have to offer are in my videos already! More weight than you think you need could be the answer. The video is here: Addi Playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLV9cndFtR5BVQrjZ7X1f0HRTV92kscJf2.html
Hi Margaret. Thanks for all this info. I have often thought about one but knew nothing about them and have just started using utube and found this. I am going to do some research and get one do I can do more donated hats and scarves. Thanks fir this video.
Hi Margaret,,, I am in need of your advice. I am an avid knitter. I have never used a loom. I would like to make hats for charity but knitting from hand does not produce hats fast. What loom would you reccommend to use ? What brand, how many pegs, and the easiest to use? I don't want to use DK and worsted weight yarn.
Thanks for sharing . I have been looking too get one of these for quite some time now. On the addi can bulking yarn be used on those machines (bulky 6 or above) . This machine would increase my volunteer work with the newborns / preemies tremendously
Hi Margaret. I have a question: Why does it seem so difficult to find the Lion Brand "Jamie" yarns? There have been many colors produced but I am finding it difficult to find stores that carry much of this product. Would want to buy online. You have recommended using a DK #3 weight, acrylic yarn when one is trying to make large adult hats on the Addi King size. You have also said that you like the Jamie line ( a DK weight), so that is why I am anxious to find a supplier of this yarn who carries many of the colors that have been produced. Thanks ever so much.
Well, I haven’t bought any in ages so I did a bit of sleuthing and accordingly knitting-warehouse.com, it’s been discontinued. Another one of my favorites is Cascade Yarn’s Cherub DK. They have tons of solid colors to choose from but no multi. I’m on a buying freeze right now so I haven’t shopped in a while to see what’s out in the big box stores these days!
Jammed packed and concise, you’ve come a long way Margaret, you should be a spokesperson for Addi.
You are so welcome, Kathy! Thank you!
So helpful Margaret and one of the most friendly and helpful people on You Tube. Thank you for making this video and always being so informative. Scott
Thank you, Scott! Glad I had something helpful to share !
What a lovely compliment! Thank you, Carol!
My friend has a machine like this and he loves to use it! He has cerebral palsy and his dexterity isn't that great, but he has one hand and arm that work just fine and it cranks this well. It's great that he can do this independently!
Agreed! My philosophy is "focus on what you CAN do not on what you CAN'T do" and it sounds like he shares that line of thinking!
Oh Margaret Margaret Margaret! Thank you for going over all this. I review all your videos often but it's nice how compact this one is. Have a great week!
Thanks, Stephanie! This update was long overdue, I'm afraid. Glad to have it complete!
I figured I must've picked it up from somewhere, obviously one of your videos then 😀
Yes a surprise knot has got me once or twice...
I'm so glad to hear it, Paula! Have fun!!
Ha!)
Thank you for the update on the circular machines.
You're so welcome, Marne!
I think most people find these machines by accident! They're just not something that comes to mind automatically! Fun little gadgets, aren't they!
Thank you! And don't be jealous of my hair... I'm losing it right now! Just found out there are some thyroid issues going on!
Although I have no desire at this time for a knitting machine, well done, all great info. Have a lovely week! (Let's hope it dries up soon here in the South!)
I spent the day trying to figure out how to use that machine!!! Its not easy, and as you get older this is a better option for your hands.
I agree! im a multi maker, knit, crochet, loom, tatting as long as your having fun doing something you love. Well then keep on doing it. You do you!
EXACTLY, Deatra! How boring life would be if we were all carbon copies of each other!
So glad to see you back, I was getting a bit concerned. Thanks for the review. I would like a machine but I’m still on the fence. It is always great to hear your very honest and straight forward reviews. They are a great help. Thank you.
Thanks, Stefanie... I'm just super swamped in my regular life right now!
I love all of my machines,
and use them differently. For sweaters, socks, special knit design scarves with beading and large blankets I use
my flatbeds. To whip up a hat & scarf and stuffed animals, I use my Addi machines. I love them all. I had some
leftover yarn from previous projects and decided to make a large throw this past week-end. I had it made in
approximately 4 hrs of knitting (66" wide x 63" long) - made on my flatbed. I always laugh when someone
tells me this is not knitting. Usually after I show them the end product, they tend to have less critical
comments to make. I will ask them how long would it take them to hand knit a California King blanket; and
then I tell them how long it takes me to make the same blanket on my flatbed--end of argument (LOL). We
need to enjoy our knitting tools and let the critical comments of other float off into the ozone!!
Love your attitude! Thanks so much for helping educate me.
Well now you know you can do flat panels and seam them together for any size hat you'd like!
Have fun!
Thanks so much for making this series, you pushed me over the edge to buy an Addi :D
Really helpful video. I'm trying to decide which circular knitting machine I want to buy. Machine knitting or loom knitting is definitely not cheating.
Glad I could help!
So creative! Thanks for the tip, Trish!
Your hair looks fabulous!
Well thank you, Sonia, but while editing, I was so distracted by that poof on on side. I rarely look at myself in the view finder (other than to make sure I'm in frame) so this should be a lesson to myself to pay more attention! Ha!
Thank you so much for this! I'm currently researching knitting machines and you helped me on my quest!
Glad to know I had a helpful tip or two to share! Thanks, Taggy, and have fun with your quest!
Hi Margaret - it's so good to see you again! Thanks for the update, it's very helpful.
Thanks, Vickie... this update was long overdue!
Thank you for helping me find hat sizing chart.
I really like the afterwards heel.
I just bought my Addi yesterday. Great video!
Good choice, Jo! Have fun with it!
Tha k you!
What a lovely compliment! Thank you!
I don't have one of this machines(yet lol) but I watched the whole video because you are so informative. So appreciated.
Much love~Pam
Thanks for the kind words, Pam, and I watch videos about other people's hobbies all the time like diamond painting for example! I don't want to do it but I like watching others do it! Ha! Another reason to love TH-cam!
Saying this is cheating is like someone saying using a sewing machine is cheating
Hahahaha! I never made that connection in my head, Allison! I usually launch into my long explanation that I shared here! ❤❤❤
Allison Barry thank you!! Great point.

Thank you for making this update! I always enjoy hearing from you!
Thank you, Bernadette!
7:00 there is no competition. When it comes to techniques, "cheating" is an other word for doing it more clever. ^^
Ooo I like the way you think!
Just wanted to say that you are looking good, hope your feeling better.
Thanks, Cathy! I'm actually feeling great these days!
Nice too see the update , I have not used my addi in ages, its time!
I've had a resurgence of questions over the past few months so an update was necessary!!
Hello! I always like your Addi video. They are so informative! 🌺
Wonderful to see you.
Thank you, Janice!
Thank you for your ideas about the tension. I will tell her what you said.
What sweet words, Gloria! Thank you! I'm glad to know I have something of value to offer!
I just came across this video and I want to thank you for all your information, I personally want to purchase the big addi machine because I am having difficulty crocheting now since I have been doing it for 33 years
You're so welcome, Susan! I hope you enjoy it!
Excellent coverage, Margaret!
Thanks, Renna... long overdue update!
You're exactly right! Wise words!
Great timing! I meant to try the 40 needle machine and this reminded me of that. I have both Addi's and love them! You are so right, it is simply another tool. No cheating involved! lol
I love that pink and white 40 needle machine! It's still going strong! I think you'll like having that 3rd tool in your toolkit, Lisa!
That is great to hear. I have been hoping for a machine that was a bit smaller than the large Addi, but larger than the small, so I think this will be perfect. I only use it to make hats for babies in my portrait studio, so that's great. Thanks for the update!
Thank you Ms Margaret. I just bought a loops and threads machine to see if I will like using a machine. I haven't used it yet but soon.
having some kind of crochet, or knitting skills will help you. I got some negative comments about it saying my finished items weren't knit on the Addi.
So happy to see you. Been awhile
Thanks, Sandy, and yes it has... the job I thought I passed on to someone else fell back in my lap as she had to have emergency surgery so now I have her responsibilities and my own, too! Even busier!
@@sheepishlysharing You take good care of yourself. Looking forward to seeing you again soon.
I really like the different scarves you showed at the end. I’ll have to try it sometime.
Those are fun little scarves! All my Addi tutorials can be found here: th-cam.com/play/PLV9cndFtR5BVQrjZ7X1f0HRTV92kscJf2.html
Im so glad you mentioned when people say its cheating its still knitting i still enjoy doing both but its quicker for me to make some quick cash if i want to take my time ill knit or crochet
Agreed! It IS knitting. Period.
Very nice and informative video ! Thank you
Thank you for the update!
Thank you Margaret for sharing. This was helpful.
You're so welcome, Jan! An updated FAQ was sorely needed!
You have really given a lot of information in this video. Thank you. Excellent presentation.
What a nice compliment! Thank you, Heather! Glad you found it helpful.
I decided to get the circular knitter because there will come a time where I won't be able to hold knitting needles at some point. The circular machines ARE fun. And boy, are they fast. I can turn out a nice hat in 30 minutes. Everyone in my extended family got hats.
Fast and fun! Glad you like it, Paula!
What a great video, your voice is lovely. You are just full of information. Thanks for sharing. I’d like to make some socks, someday. Appreciate your time, hugs, Linda
Oh, my! What kind words to wake up to this morning! Thank you, Linda!
Glad it was helpful! Have fun, Verna!
Extremely helpful! Thank you!
I appreciate the information you've given here. Thank you!
Happy to help!
Brilliant! Thank You Margaret!
You are so welcome!
Very informative. Thank you. These
Machines are amazing. God bless you.
@@sheepishlysharing Oh, thank you for clarifying! Well, it looks like she makes amazing things. ☺️
WOW... This video is very well done! BRAVO!! I will send you pictures of another teddy bear you can show in a video. XOXO
Thanks, Sweet and Thoughtful Sister MM!
Thank you so much for your helpful and informative videos. God bless you!

You mentioned ‘description’ section of the video. Where is that on my screen ? I watch on IPad air2.
On just about every device, the description box is below the video. I don't have an iPad at the moment to give you exact directions but on my iPhone X Max, you click on the drop-down symbol to the right of the video title. The see-through sock looks like the fishnet stockings we wore in the 60s. Lol
That's exactly what I thought when I stuck my hand in there!
Does the addi knitting machine make more than one type of stitch?
I see you found this video! Then answer is explained here!
Have you reviewed the Loombot sold by FatBrain toys? Wondering if you would recommend this for my 7 yr old granddaughter. Thanks
No… I’ve never seen that one! So many choices these days
Hi Margaret. Thanks for all this info. I have often thought about one but knew nothing about them and have just started using utube and found this. I am going to do some research and get one do I can do more donated hats and scarves. Thanks fir this video.
I have a whole playlist of Addi videos that may help! Check the description box for the link!
I'm not all that knowledgeable about looming, June. You may want to watch and learn from "Good Knit Kisses" here on TH-cam.
thank you for the comprehensive explanation. may i know the name of the user you mentioned in your video? the lady that makes garments with her addi.
You’re so welcome! Fatima doesn’t do videos. She just shared those pictures with me.
I Bought a machine to see how it goes. I crochet but my fingers won’t let me knit.
I love the tight stitch but of knitting so this was great for me.
Thanks for sharing . I have been looking too get one of these for quite some time now. On the addi can bulking yarn be used on those machines (bulky 6 or above) . This machine would increase my volunteer work with the newborns / preemies tremendously
No... yarn that's too heavy for the machine puts a strain on it.
