Harley Davidson Street Bob 114 Review - This Bike Is Something Else!

  • A first ride and review of the Harley Davidson Street Bob 114, this bike really is something else!
    A classic American Harley Davidson with mini ape handle bars and Harleys new Milwaukee 8 114 engine, the Street Bob is a loud and fast cruiser for tearing up the streets. With its insanely loud Vance And Hines short shot exhausts. It is the loudest motorcycle I have ever ridden.
    The Street Bob 114 is a Harley Davidson with American attitude and bags of character.
    Just motovlog cruising through the country side on this motorcycle really is something else!
    Cannot wait for the 2002 Street Bob.

    Nice vid. I feel like out of all the stories brands Moto Guzzi and Harley Davidson are the least understood. They’re both visceral and emotional motorcycles that you can’t just form an opinion on in a day or even a week. I love them both!

    Its my first bike after years of not having a bike, and then only a CBR150, I tested it, liked it, bought it, but was not a good rider , i had not been on a bike for so long and this a totally different style and wieght took some getting used too and plenty of You tube videos, relearning counter balance, counter steering, trail braking, friction zone you name it i didn't remember it, 3500 miles later new hand grips a Saddleman seat, memphis shades gauntlet fairing , Stage 1 tune and V &H Mini Grenades in chrome, 70cm sissy bar, engine guards and
    other bits i am loving it, the raw power is awesome. I have bought a new Ducati Monster and a couple of 125cc bikes for my wife and son so i use them too and the variety helps you learn more. Streetbob is the best bike out of everything i have owned or tested, HD have got this right except the seat it sucks.

      👍 Great to hear that you have come back to biking again. Yes I can imagine the Street Bob feeling awkward to ride at first! Sounds like you have made it your own bike and are now loving it. I have always loved the look of the Street Bob, just such a cool design. Those exhausts where very loud haha almost too loud for me! Hope you continue to enjoy it. Cheers

    Great review per usual. I use to own from New an 06 HD duce and never really enjoyed riding it. It was uncomfortable even with an aftermarket seat and burned oil constantly. I sold it after 2 years and had only manged 5000 miles on it in that time. I've put that much on my speedmaster in a little over a year because it's such a joy to ride. Here in Texas I see a lot of guys buying HD simply because of the "bad boy" image and not actually because they enjoy riding. Common phrase I hear is "$20,000 and 200 miles don't make you a biker" and that tends to revolve around 90% of HD owners lol

    • @redangrevival
      @redangrevival  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Keith 👍 It was a brilliant experience riding this bike! Really enjoyed it and just has bags of character. I did notice it was quite a hard ride, the Speedmaster is much more forgiving and relaxing.
      I personally would not swap it for my Speedmaster, however I can definitely see the appeal. Haha good quote! I can imagine that being the case with Harleys, people spending a load of money and not riding it!! Cheers

    Greetings from the Pine Barrens of New Jersey USA. The Vance and Hines you have are slip on mufflers, I have the short shot system on my 2022 114 Street Bob. Short Shots are louder and give you more power. I also have the Stage 2 upgrade. My dyno numbers are 105 hp and 116 ft pounds of torque. The difference is fantastic. Stock numbers are about 88 hp and about 105 torque. Good video! Thanks!

    Good review, I have a 107 Streetbob and your observations are spot on. That bike has the V&H slip on silencers, louder are available ! I am presently running with the stock system and it actually not that bad a sound. I did find the riding position a little cramped compared to my Triumph America 865cc, but I bought the Streetbob as I already had feet forward on the America, tilting the bars back a bit made it much better. I was also surprised that it handles the bends a lot better than I thought it would.

      @@chrisquas4113 Completely agree. My FXBB 107 handles surprisingly well and I love the motor, especially with V&H slip-ons, high-flow air cleaner and FP3 tune. I test rode a Triumph Speedmaster and found it gutless and bland in comparison.

  • @Rubuz
    @Rubuz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I am looking to buy a cruiser. I just love the whole laidback experience they give. The Speedmaster and Street bob are my top two choices. But I hate the idea of cleaning and maintaining chain and spokes on Speedmaster.

    • @redangrevival
      @redangrevival  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha I know exactly what you mean!! I am not the biggest fan of chain maintenance either. However I must say you do get used to it eventually, just part of my routine now.
      Have to love the cruisers, so relaxed and chilled out. I am biased of course, but I would say the Speedmaster is considerably more comfortable and probably better dynamically than the Street Bob.
      Its not just about ability though, its how the bike makes you feel 👍 Good luck with your choice and enjoy the ride. 🤟

    I have this exact same bike / color scheme and all (different mods). However, coming from a sport bike at 60.... this thing is a different kind of fun. It gets slammed as a bar hopper, but I do almost all tank plus rides. If I could build a bike, it would be this. I said I would have a bobber when I get old and here we are. It also slows me down a lot, which I needed. Allmost all of my rides are like 150-200 mile loops from home. One thing though.... I had the foam in the stock seat replaced with gel (a modification I would highly recommend). It gives you a nice seat without getting something larger and excessive. I put Tab Performance Zombie slip ons on it.... they're quite loud. I'm 6'1" and quite comfortable on it with mid controls (which I prefer anyway). I also put highway pegs on it as well. I'm not sure why people who stay local even get baggers... I wouldn't even call them motorcycles. Most of the people I know with baggers ride less than I do.

    • @redangrevival
      @redangrevival  ปีที่แล้ว

      🤙 onwards and upwards! Certainly a different style of bike but no less fun. Great to hear you are enjoying it so much. That gel seat sounds like a great idea, I did find this one quite hard.
      Over all I think these bikes are so cool and are the perfect styled Harley (I would like spoked wheels though).
      May you continue to enjoy your riding for many more years to come 👍

    The street Bob is a beautiful bike and still sounds great with stock exhausts. Like you said it's not really a tourer, it's more a get out and ride bike. Take it to a show and watch the admiring lookovers. I have heard you need to hang on when you accelerate if you don't want to end up sitting in the road 😂 Great to see you up on one but you need it for longer. Probably won't want to give it back!

    Very Interesting Mr Bond... Nice bike..Well it is Harley Davidson and it is American!
    They are getting more and more popular over here.. I can remember a few years back when it was quite a sight and rarity to even see one on our roads.
    Love your jovial commentary... "it's not me crying" made me laugh!
    by the by.. had a lovely ride to Gillingham yesterday... don't know if you know it but there is a very interesting bike shop called Moto Corsa Motorcycles there with a bike park and wonderful cafe!
    Good to see so many bikers young and old!
    They appear to deal mainly in Royal Enfield and MV Augusta, though I did spot one Triumph.
    The clothes department was very good also and I have now purchased my wet weather overalls!
    Your comment the other day was so spot on... it's like being a kid again, or words to that effect or is affect?

      Hi, haha "Bond, James Bond"! Yes now you mention it I do see a lot on the roads now. I suppose when Harley made some major updates (in 2018?) to their bikes, they really improved the handling characteristics/suspension etc.. which must have appealed to the UK market more.
      Haha thanks, yup i like to sort of go with the flow and keep it natural with my commentary!

    As an American it is always nice to hear those across the pond appreciate and understand what US cruisers (especially Harley Davidson) are about. Most sport bike riders just love to bash Harley as if they are still in the AMF era. I love the old school line but I am one of the newer Harley owners (26 YO) who is looking to also add one of the new Revolution equipped bikes to my garage (in due time). I just love the overall feel and presence of these bikes / the brand as a whole. Nice video, stay safe out there!

    Here's the difference between a Harley and a Triumph here in the States - you can be anywhere in the country and not be far from a mechanic who's certified and willing to wrench on a Harley and they'll work on any year and any model of Harley. Triumph? You're going to have a much harder time finding a mechanic, which may not be good if you're on a trip, and if you do manage to find one they're likely to not be willing to work on your bike if it's over 10 years old and isn't "vintage." That's a not-talked-about-much secret as to why Harleys are so popular here in the States, that and because of that Harleys hang on to their resale value really well.

    • @redangrevival
      @redangrevival  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a very good point, and can understand how useful that would be, nearly every garage would know how to fix a Harley 👍 However on a Triumph you are much less likely to need a garage in the first place 😉

    After seing this video i think how happy my Royal Enfield Classic 500 makes me feel for so much less money. In fact , only since 2018, after 50 years riding all types of bikes, i woke for Harley models and sometimes i feel I would like to be seduced for some of the Softails. However the basic rationality tells me I don't need such a weight; I dont need to feel cramped and , I don't need an air filter case touching my right leg; I don´t need to spend in expensive acessoiries to make the bike fitting me; I don't need to spend so much in maintenance. Is there any discreet Harley?. A so intense and exclusive sensorial experience is it absolutely necessary to achieve a biker carreer? No. It´s a big price/ kg. and it is not proportional to the intensity of the delivered pleasure. Overdimension is not an advantage in any sense. That's why I prefer owning two bikes simultaneously. The second one is a 2003 Moto Guzzi Breva 750. ( I feel perfect in a Speedmaster)

    I love Triumphs and pretty much all their bikes are brilliant rides but jumping on a Harley... Well, lets just say, do it once for a day and the the infection never really goes away... You'll be either subconsciously or consciously manifesting ways of fitting one in your garage or making plenty of room for one ... 😉. There's a reason why just about all professional or ex-professional motorcycle racers end up using these soulful things as their road bikes. Incidentally a well ridden Harley is as quick point to point on a public road as any whizzbangery and a whole lot more fun in-between.
