Hello Rayan & Emily, welcome back to Malaysia once again. It’s always nice to have both of you back and always looking forward to your new videos around the globe to expand my horizon. I must say your report and experience living and experiencing KL is excellent. I have live in KL for decades and I without bias, I fully agree with your assessment. I feel your knowledge on KL is better than a Malaysian if only the Malaysian is living in other parts of Malaysia except KL. Finally, thanks for showing me there is a water fountain in Sultan Abdul Samad building. Other than that it is centrally located, ease traveling to other surrounding countries. Btw any collab with Andrew Taylor? Would be interesting.
Yes, another plus for Malaysia! I lived in California where there are earthquakes and it is always frightening. I've been in touch with Taylor, maybe we could collab sometime in the future.
That's a fair comment by both of you Ryan And Emily. Continue in your exploration in the wonders of Malaysia and hope you will always enjoy your stay here.
Happy New Year to both of you Ryan and Emily. Thank for the lovely video. Malaysia is not perfect but we do our best to the visitors of the country. Some tourists mistakenly thought foreign workers (mostly who couldn't speak English well) as locals and this may give bad impression. As for the destination is boring, it's very subjective because we can't please all the people all the time. Hope you enjoy your stay here.

Haven't lived in KL but had the good fortune to spend about 6 weeks there. The people are super friendly, I really can't understand how anyone would say otherwise. Totally agree about the great food and interesting things to do. I also enjoyed the KL bird park and butterfly park when I was there. I can see why someone would say the transportation is not as good as other SE Asian cities though (for example, Singapore). When I was there it was completely common for the LRT lines to only be running short (2-car) trains that were absolutely packed, making it a real effort to squeeze in. Maybe it's gotten better? In any event a great place to visit, very enjoyable.
Hi. The LRT stands for light rapid transit, thus most of the times only hv 2 or 3 coaches, as they usually only cover short distances. Same for monorail system. However, the MRT and Komuter (usually hv 5 or more coaches) are for mass transportation n cover relatively longer distances than the LRT/monorail
Thank you for your kind words about Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia is a diverse country with its own challenges, but it's heartwarming to see the kindness shown by visitors like you. I enjoy helping tourists because it's a way to share my country's hospitality. It's a reciprocal experience, as I've also encountered kindness from strangers during my travels. I do feel the "lies" can sometimes be attributed to the competitors from other countries and some has something to do with local political scenario as well. But that doesn't stop us from being one of the best city and country to visit. I hope you had an enjoyable stay and we would really love to have you back here.
Malaysians truly appreciate foreigners who create videos and promote Malaysia to the world. There are many misconceptions about Malaysia that people often have. For example, while Malaysia is officially a secular country, Islam is our official religion. However, we do not adhere to overly conservative practices; instead, we follow our religion moderately. Malaysia is home to Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians. While we do have Shariah law, it only applies to Muslims. Unfortunately, many Westerners mistakenly believe that Malaysia is a strictly Muslim country, and as a result, Islamophobia in the Western world has not helped to dispel these misconceptions. Therefore, we thank you for taking the time to spread accurate information about Malaysia.
Thanks for sharing this information. We love Malaysia and hope others can have an accurate perception of what Malaysia is really like. Thank you again!

I'm a local and I must tell you this. Malaysians sometimes treat tourists nicer than their own fellow country mates. We have been taught to smile and make tourists feel welcome since young. What's unique about Malaysia is her people, the Malaysian hospitality, the generosity to share happiness and food. Yes, food binds people together.
I don't quite agree with that. I am a local too, but I think fellow Malaysians do treat each other nice. Neighbors helping out neighbors is a common thing. Maybe your neighborhood might be a bit different. When you ask for help whether as a Malaysian or as a foreigner, you will get help. When I need help in changing my tires at a petrol station, some Malaysians (who are strangers) came by and help me. I was never raised to treat a foreigner extra special to a Malaysian. I was taught to respect other's differences.

My thinking is to get the retair visa in Thailand, base on Thailand, you can easily visit east and southeast asia as your want. That's my plan, also because the Thailand retair visa is much easier than Malaysia long-term visa

I've been to KL recently, the people are friendly, but it's true to some extent that the employees of the transit and some bus drivers are very rude towards foreigners, I've faced it multiple times in 2 weeks being shouted at for being new to the city. But even amount the employees and bus drivers there are some people with hearts of gold. A few people having a bad day doesn't mean everybody is like that. I even had a cab driver shout at me for being late for pickup but apologized by the end of the ride after they realized i didn't do it on purpose. It's just the attitude of workers who deal with a lot of public interfacing needs to be friendly, that's the only missing gap
I ❤ with your honest review about my country. But if u have oppurnity for a jext visit, try to explore others state in Malaysia. FYI, every single state have different cultures, language and of course their foods! Believe me 😊
Thank you so much! We have visited every state in Malaysia except Perlis and Sabah. We hope to visit those two states sometime in the future. Thanks for watching our video!
Due to the stricter policy on alcohol and panties, Malaysia is somewhat retaining its own vibe. Unlike Bali, Phuket, Etc has been “ruined ”by the party going westerners.
I think you meant "parties", not "panties" lol 😂. But yeah, that is one of the things we like best about Malaysia compared to Thailand and Bali. We like the quieter atmosphere that Malaysia provides vs. the party atmosphere. Thanks for watching our video!
I think this is what people mean when they say KL is "boring". They expect it to be a carbon copy of Thailand with a focus on drinking and partying. Thankfully it's not like that side of Thailand. If you're still at the party stage of your life, go to Phuket. Once you mature a little then you'll really enjoy KL!
Friendly because that's your nature or friendly because you want something from another person, there's a difference. I appreciate honesty when I see it, just saying.
We are headed to KL in mid January to late February. You two going to be around there then? Can you recommend a good area to stay in? Hope you guys are doing well and Happy New Year!
Hope you two are doing well too and can't believe it's been a year since we were in Chiang Mai! We have already left Malaysia, I'm just a bit behind on uploading videos lol. When staying in KL we generally stay in the Masjid Jamek area, but the area around KLCC is more central. Enjoy your trip and we look forward to seeing your videos from KL and Malaysia.
We stayed in Malaysia for over one year in 2020 and 2021. We applied for the MM2H visa in 2020 but the program was suspended before we completed the application, so we got residency in Turkey instead. Thank you for the comment and thanks for watching our video!
I dont know why it hurt me when you saying if u fortunate to live here in Malaysia, i hope my government would grant special visa for someone like u guys. Plz enjoy Malaysia while u guys still here.
@@snailtravelers no problem. That's one reason why the oldest mosque is there. Central market is there since 1888. And the train station. And the british administration building. Civilisation of KL.took off there even though it already had several villages there and also tin minings.
Markham (Canada) is basically a suburb of Toronto and aside from chain restaurants, is Chinese food and little else. This makes the rest of the list rather suspicious and biased. Toronto itself should rank given the cosmopolitan multicultural city it is. As for your overall assessment of KL, I’d generally agree with your assessment and critique. Just came back from a few days there and aside from the disgrace the airport terminal has fallen into from my previous visits, it was easy to get around by public transit or Grab. True a few attractions required a short walk from a station (and signage is very poor for directions between several interchanges) but that’s normal in many other cities too. I find KL to be much like Singapore in the ‘80s before the boom and absurd inflation in the cost of hotels and dining (except for local hawker centres).
Hello Ryan and Emily hope you doing good I love all of your videos it’s perfect With lots of details and information thank you very much I have a question if you answer it please Or if you make a video about it that would be wonderful I heard that Malaysia apartments, condos and basically all the residential new or old , they have lots of insects like ants 🐜 🪳 cockroach mice And gecko it makes life very difficult is this true or false And also can you please give some more information about the weather and traffic Thank you
Thanks for watching the video! We didn't have problems with insects, but we were always very careful about keeping food stored properly and taking out the garbage. We did see a mouse once when we stayed in an old historic apartment in Georgetown. The weather is hot all year except in Cameron Highlands where it is very pleasant. Traffic can be heavy, especially in Kuala Lumpur, but the nice thing about KL is the train system, which avoids any traffic issues. Hope that helps, thanks again for watching!
We would rather live in Bangkok or KL over either New York or Chicago. If we had to choose one of the four we would pick KL first. Thanks for watching our video!
I can understand that concern. I hope Malaysia can enjoy a strong tourism industry but that it will be in a sustainable way and that it doesn't suffer from overtourism. Thank you for watching.
Malaysia will never be over crowded with tourists even in the future because even we want tourism dollars but because we are an Islamic country, we can never have the many freedom Thailand 🇹🇭 has to offer.
Iv'e lived in Malaysia for about 18 months, and i must say you are both right and wrong, my point of view is: 1. Malaysians are very friendly and social 2. It is cheap to live in for westerners 3. KL does not have much to do except going to the mall or restaurants, once you've seen Batu Caves and KLCC, there is nothing much else spectacular to do and there not many nice neighborhoods you can walk around in. I personally think cities like Bangkok, Da Nang or Shanghai in Asia are much more exciting to visit. 4. The transport system is not great at all, the stations are linked in a weird way and it is very time consuming to get around, for me a car is a must in KL unless your job and all the amenities you need are within walking distance. 5. Food is delicious but it is not the best in the world, i prefer Rome, Paris and London for example, but it might be the best city in the world to eat cheap, with so much variety!
Great observations. Thanks for sharing, I'm sure this information will be helpful to others. Everyone has different experiences and I appreciate that you took the time to write this comment.
I agree that the transportation connection is time consuming....but wait till MRT3 is finished, then we talk about this again... As for places to visit and things to do, as a place that is relatively new as it was built up in the late 1800s, it seems a little dull compare to Bangkok where it has like thousand years old of history, but you can practically go to the suburbs or to the next city within an hour drive frm the city and experience places like paddy fields in Kuala selangor - sg besar stretch, hiking trains in and around (the suburbs) the city such as bukit wawasan, bukit tabur, bukit lagong, bukit saga,kemensah....several waterfalls to take a dip in (kanching, sofea Jane in kemensah, so pisang in gombak, Hulu langat, ulu yam), hot springs (sg. Klah, bentong) camping/glamping in Janda baik or Batang Kali). Theme parks, such as sunway lagoon, riverine splash @ amverton, splashmania@gamuda cove, i-city Shah alam... extreme park in Shah alam....fireflies, blue tears and many more.... There are museums galore, from a textile museum to a police museum and a museum dedicated to the indigenous people in Gombak. There is also agro-tourism such as a fruit orchard, selangor fruit valley Mah meri Cultural Village in pulau carey. Oh yes, how about Kampung Baru, a traditional village smack dab in the center of kl.
Kl only has tropical forest around it and not a mega city like shanghai or Bangkok in terms of population. Comparing to da nang does not make sense. KL is not next to a beach nor a huge river like shanghai. We hv nature and wild animals. Have you seen wild animals in vietnam? So they have their attractions, we hv ours. We are the top 17 countries with mega diversity listed by UN. Depends what interest you. Bangkok is considered the entertainment spot for sure eg clubbing, bars, massage.
@@keangwooichoo6138 I am speaking from a perspective of a foreigner coming to visit KL as a tourist, the food is great, and there is some sightseeing to do, but most foreigners wont leave the city as they will use public transport. Plus a lot of nature is not promoted to tourists so they dont even know that these things exist. And there is a huge lack of nice parks and pedestrian areas, in comparison to other major cities. And as a European, what appeals mostly to most of us when visiting Asia is: 1. Sunny weather 2. Nice beaches 3. Temples and cultural architecture 4. Exploring a different culture 5. Good food 6. Great nature For me, KL ticks only 1 or 2 of these boxes. Its a nice city to visit, but nothing exceptional and far behind the greatest cities in my opinion.
@nicklasprince it is like saying if I go to Zurich or lucerne or basel or zermatt, I won't go to interlaken as it is outside the city. Likewise animals do not live in a city, they are wild. You move over to national parks or borneo. Sometimes I feel relief if tourists know less of our beaches as we locals can enjoy it more(not crowded). You cannot expect to walk out of the hotel in kl to find beaches as those beautiful beaches are in islands. The city has many parks. Including butterfly and bird park(one of the largest in the world) if you care to Google. Forested areas are like kanching waterfalls, templer's park. If you care to Google. All you need to do is ask people(locals). Kl is not only batu caves. That is not the only temple. Batu caves is not even in kl. It is in a state called selangor.

That sounds perfect! Thanks for watching our video.
Whoever said in the comment that the Malaysian unfriendly, that person must be Malaysian. You read it in Malaysia Reddit, right?
Yes, that is where I read it.
Happy new year Ryan & Emily...really appreciate your honest reviews
Happy new year to you as well!
Right on the spot !. 👌
Thank you!
Thank you 🙏
Thank you!
good to see u again sir
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing about your experience, and thanks for watching our video!
Welcome back to Malaysia 🇲🇾

Thank you, and happy new year to you as well!
Thank you guys

@@snailtravelers welcome back home guys
@@nomadjim Yes, thank goodness, KL isn't another Bangkok
Friendly because that's your nature or friendly because you want something from another person, there's a difference. I appreciate honesty when I see it, just saying.
I understand what you are saying. Thanks for watching!
@@snailtravelers Yeah not directed to anybody I must say. Just my observation.

Happy New Year 🤗
Happy New Year to you as well!

Happy New Year to you as well!
Are you both going to be staying in Malaysia now? What is the longest you have stayed there? This was a beautiful video! Thank you for sharing this 😊
We stayed in Malaysia for over one year in 2020 and 2021. We applied for the MM2H visa in 2020 but the program was suspended before we completed the application, so we got residency in Turkey instead. Thank you for the comment and thanks for watching our video!
The people of Cameron Highlands are one of the most friendliest, helpful and generous people also, right Snail Travelers ... ??? ... 😉
Absolutely!
I dont know why it hurt me when you saying if u fortunate to live here in Malaysia, i hope my government would grant special visa for someone like u guys. Plz enjoy Malaysia while u guys still here.
Thank you very much, I appreciate your kindness.
Hi. The rivers of life is where Kuala Lumpur got its name from. Kuala Lumpur literally means muddy confluence.
I didn't know that, thanks for sharing!
@@snailtravelers no problem. That's one reason why the oldest mosque is there. Central market is there since 1888. And the train station. And the british administration building. Civilisation of KL.took off there even though it already had several villages there and also tin minings.
Indeed 👍
Good observations, thanks for sharing and for watching our video!
Hello Ryan and Emily hope you doing good I love all of your videos it’s perfect
With lots of details and information thank you very much
I have a question if you answer it please
Or if you make a video about it that would be wonderful
I heard that Malaysia apartments, condos and basically all the residential new or old , they have lots of insects like ants 🐜 🪳 cockroach mice
And gecko it makes life very difficult is this true or false
And also can you please give some more information about the weather and traffic
Thank you
Thanks for watching the video!
Also Gecko's yes, they quite often get inside of apartments.
Thank you so much for answering my questions you both are amazing people
KL city for family
What they mean boring is the culture its unlike thailand or vietnam the vibe is not there
I think you are right about that. Thanks for watching!
Are Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur better than New York and Chicago ?
We would rather live in Bangkok or KL over either New York or Chicago. If we had to choose one of the four we would pick KL first. Thanks for watching our video!
@@snailtravelers Are there places like New York's Times Square, Fifth Avenue and Manhattan in Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur?
i think u must cant wait for ramandan
Tbh as a Malaysian I'd say people from Kuala Lumpur are not that friendly in Malaysia standard.
That is the way of Islam
Left Sarawak already?
Yes, we have left Malaysia, but there still more videos from Malaysia coming soon.
😘🥰
Some workers / shopkeeper are foreigner and might not understand or speak English. They also might not have the same hospitality value of Malaysian.
I wish it had a Bike rental system like Taiwan. Then it would be perfect. 💓💯
Great suggestion! We love getting around by bike whenever possible.
@@snailtravelers are there public places to lock bikes?
Are you willing to travel to China ?China has big cities like Hong Kong Shanghai Shenzhen Shenyang and Tianjin , many delicious Chinese food !

Welcome to KL😂
Thank you!
You didn’t say about weather
Yeah, I missed that - it is hot and humid all year!
the truth about K.L is not clean enough..😁😁😁😁
Malasya starts to become very popular, and 😢I’m afraid in few years Malasya become over crowded with tourist, like Thailand, I don’t like Malay food😅
You dont like satay???
I dont mind you not liking Malay food. As you even could not write the country name correctly.
@@baharm65 lol bro 😅
Iv'e lived in Malaysia for about 18 months, and i must say you are both right and wrong, my point of view is:
1. Malaysians are very friendly and social
2. It is cheap to live in for westerners
There is also agro-tourism such as a fruit orchard, selangor fruit valley
Mah meri Cultural Village in pulau carey.
And as a European, what appeals mostly to most of us when visiting Asia is:
1. Sunny weather
2. Nice beaches
3. Temples and cultural architecture
4. Exploring a different culture
5. Good food
6. Great nature
For me, KL ticks only 1 or 2 of these boxes.
You need to know that Malaysia is the richest country in Southeast Asia
