  • My newest painting on canvas titled "Lakeside Memories" which I painted in acrylics and oils. This painting features a lake cabin at sunset overlooking a peaceful bay. The time is autumn as the leaves are in full color, and two boys fish on the dock with their dogs.

Sometimes it's hard to just paint for the sake of painting. I myself worked on an old south farmhouse and then put it up for a year unfinished. It happens. Sometimes you go over and over and over and over and over and OVER your painting. I did not know that a person could do that. Do all of the layers make it thick when you do that? Anyhow, you make it work. You have a special gift. There is a soul about your paintings that others don't seem to achieve, even if their subject matter is the same as the scenery that you paint. You capture the true spirit of rustic, rural scenes in an idyllic way. God bless ya.

      @@donproctor3445 sure, however he was taught a popular style of wet on wet from his mentor, which are expressionistic techniques that are for faster immediate results, not different in essence than those those produce those space spaces from spay cans, upturned bowls and pieces of stiff card/plastic. He didn't have the the variety of training of others. Nothing wrong with that either. He mastered that particular approach, but apples an oranges.
      I actually disagree it was purely about the TV time constraint, plenty of shows have more technique, you can show different technique over different episodes. There are plenty of shows that can overcome that. Bob ross wanted people who didn't have much training or drafting ability, understanding of perspective an composition or colour knowledge, to be able to produce a pleasing result, that looked professional. He did that well.

    This kinda of paintings take u into a different dimension, at the end, u imajine yourself turning on the lights from the cabin, heading down the stairs, smelling the fresh air, looking around and seeing the trees, and then stare at the beautiful sun, and it’s reflection. The wind blows on your hair, and you feel... peace. and then u think about it, and u can feel as if behind those mountains there is wolves and above those trees there is birds, and farther beyond those mountains there is cattle, and people, and farther there is a town, to a city, to a state, to a country, to a continent, to a world, to a galaxy. Oh, how much a picture can bring. Oh how much imagination can bring...

    100 years from now, someone is going to send that painting to a guy like Baumgartner to fix overzealous cleaning and overpaint done by previous conservators. 22nd century Baumgartner is gonna put it under x-ray and UV light to see what's what and say, "OMG, this artist sets the world historical record for pentimenti" and then sit in a committee with fellow conservators debating over which cabins and trees to restore and whether or not the country road is meant to be visible. Hee hee.

    I’m absolutely stunned. Thank you for the video, not only for displaying your painting prowess but to encourage other people, not just artists, to push through adversity and discouragement. I face that a lot when I’m writing music; the times when I’ve broken through that frustration are times when I’ve made my best work. Once again, thank you for the reminder and for the simply stunning artistry.

    Oh Chuck you are my favorite artist on TH-cam for a lot of reasons but mainly, I see myself in you. When I paint, I have a specific vision that just change along the way coz better ideas starts coming through, then repainting it again and changing composition becomes exhausting after a lot of time and thinking. I still make it happen because i am very patient and I want to see that end result looking great and most importantly, me being 100% happy and satisfied with my work. I just want to thank you for not being selfish with your knowledge. I’ve been painting for so many years but I still like to learn a lot and see what are other artists techniques and apply it on my artwork. Please keep doing what you’re doing and may you continue to inspire a lot of artists (beginners and/or experienced). Cheers!😃

    • @putinsgaytwin4272

      watvid1 if u go through the frustration of aiming for perfection every day for many many years, you will be able to do that. That’s how all artists get good. Although some just accept mistakes and go for more expressionistic paintings which might save u from catching depression and many break downs when u do these paintings. I’m no expert but I have painted before and no a thing or two about improvement

    • @Caerulis
      @Caerulis 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Loads of people say these comments in painting videos. And it's okay and everything but plain circles aren't exactly the most important things in a painting, depending on what you do. Organic paintings and landscapes usually don't require perfect circles, and when they do, it's different painting a circle with a brush. Once you have a reference image (or idea), pick up a paint brush, just forget about your doubts and just try. Many times I've started painting and it'll look like crap, but I kept persevering. And they look pretty decent after (based on my standards).

    Man. You are blessed with such talent but the perseverance and patience; people talk about it but thank you for sharing it.
