The exact one you reviewed in this video (excellent review, by the way!). Just recently I discovered this and alreay marked this as my next laptop. currently rocking a t440p. which hits nearly every requirement of me, lacking only the convertible feature. but in 2-4 years this x1 yoga will be much cheaper as a refurbished model /from business use), and I'll get me one of these. I love how the x1 yoga still has the badass keyboard, even though it's a super slim model.

I have had two E-series ThinkPads. I don't have the budget for a T-series. But, a ThinkPad is a business machine that lasts, has a great keyboard, and was easily upgradable. My older E530 is 8 years old. Three screws, a few clips, and I was able to upgrade RAM and install an SSD in a few minutes. The E530 is still running just fine and is the best money I ever spent on something electronic.
I got a ThinkPad E585 two years ago for $530. I was able to take off the back cover and install more RAM easily as well as install a Samsung 860 EVO in no time.
    I love ThinkPads.

3:2 screen convertible laptop is the dream. I don't understand how company still stick with 16:9 laptops even though they must add big bezel because it's hard to make the laptop width smaller...
I mean since manufacturers left the 4:3 screens it was obvious that lot of people thought that was stupid. Now every laptop review says "I wish it had 16:10 or 3:2" and yet manufacturers keep giving us crap 16:9 laptops.
Come on business laptop are not for washing netflix or movies. We need screens that can properly display programs...

There should be a rule like - you're not allowed to review Thinkpads unless you respect the utility of a trackpoint.
It is a very important feature which sets it apart and most users prefer it to the trackpad. I personally have my trackpad switched off.

I have a ThinkPad and really thought the nipple was a waste of time when i first got it. I end up out in the heat allot commissioning equipment and on surveys and can tell you that track pads don't work with wet/sweaty hands. The nipple works perfectly in this scenario and I will continue to buy ThinkPad's as long as they include it (and the awesome keyboards!). Nice review

    • @manosprotonotarios5187
      @manosprotonotarios5187 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

exactly - also try placing a laptop on your knees and type and control the mouse pointer at the same time - it is awkward and funny. the hands should be symmetrically placed to keep the weight equally and hold the laptop horizontally. removing hands tilts the laptop. no such issue with a trackpoint.

I'll be returning the C940 I'm trying out from Best Buy. It is a good price, but I'm leary of lasting a long time like a Mil Spec laptop. I disagee with Matthew, the X1 Thinkpad series can include consumer level buyers that just want a solid laptop.

@@sanman31 I've purchased two dell xps's that have had to be returned for build issues. I've had Ibm t43, ibm t460, carbon x1 with no issues. I did get the x1 repaired when I spilled something on it and had to take it to the microcenter depot where they replaced the keyboard - no issues after. The reality is that all laptops have some little issues. Xps have bad trackpads half the time, surface laptop basically have an unreplaceable battery, macbooks just got through their horrible keyboard phase.. not a bad idea to extend the warranty for two years if you can get yourself a little more coverage, but even one year usually uncovers any issues that will pop up.

*- Slightly thinner bezels (I understant that the chin needs to be there).*
    *- A better webcam.*
    *- 11th gen Intel/with Xe graphics.*

For the life of me I can’t figure out why they have slow DDR3 ram in laptops THIS expensive.

you pay the extra money so the hinges won't break after a year and half .. (I had the idea pad, stopped working shortly after warranty expired - nice while it worked but built flimsy)

When I bought the G4 I was very irritated with the touchpad. I wonder if that has improved? When clicking the "nipple buttons", as you call them, turned off the touchpad cursor and always caused a significant, productivity-diminishing pause and clicking-inaccuracies. And the other issue was that a tiny bit of water, like half a droplet, could render the touchpad dysfunctional for around an hour or so. And the fingerprint reader did not work properly forcing to use the PIN or password to login. Even as a consumer, I would not buy a different notebook though.
