Great video Matthew! Do you think you could help me with advice for a laptop that has dedicated graphics and touchscreen and not terrible battery life?
@mathew - FYI, the X1 2-in-1 Ge 9 does have an optional upgrade to a Sensel (that's us) haptic touchpad. At the moment it's only available to end-users in the "Build Your PC" tool, for an extra $60 in the US and $80 in Canada.
@@MatthewMoniz You're very welcome! If you're interested in learning more about haptic touchpads, and what separates the good ones vs the meh ones, would love to chat!
@Matthew Moniz The middle click button is especially handy as you can rebind it into middle click. And then it can be used to pan or rotate CAD or FEM/Structural models. With the capability of annotating drawings or zoom meetings with the pen, this is a killer laptop for a structural engineer like myself. 👌👌👌 That middle click button is one of the main reason that I always return to Thinkpad after using other brands. I am actually okay if the nipple is gone from Thinkpad, but I won't be okay if they remove that satisfying mouse click buttons. You're one of the few reviewer who often mentions how a laptop would benefit a CAD user (I watched your X1 Extreme vs P1).
I absolutely agree on your comment. Hate to see that the pen garage is gone. It's a matter of time that the pen might get damaged or even lost in the line of work, when attached on the outside. And that dumb design for the camera. Looks awful and the laptop stands only on that small camera part, and not fully like it used to be. I'll stick to Gen 8 for now until they improve those mentioned factors. They are critical for me.
I've always been very confused about thinkpads for casual use. I know a few people who have shelled out big $$$ for these and they just seem not great.. I prefer the slim laptop series from Lenovo as they just have better displays and a better keyboard IMO. And you can beef up and get the Slim Pro series for a fraction of the cost of the Thinkpad.
I got the x13 (basically identical to this but 1 inch smaller). Totally awesome laptop, real premium feel, crazy good 2k screen. Got kt in vietnam brand new for about half the retail price as it was illegally imported from usa, no box, no tax and crazy good price.
The System has a nice performance, and nice material quality. But the fan noise is annoying... Its all-time running, and under minimal load its quiet loud. No comparison with the Gen 4 X1 Yoga model... Its a pitty..
I had an hp similar to this laptop. it even had that mini "lever" in the middle of the keyboard but that was a long time ago, maybe I'll go for this one out of nostalgia.
Guess I'll just keep rocking my Gen6 model. If they refuse to make an integrated pen, why for the love of god can't they put a friggin' CLIP on it? Is it so hard to make life easier for business people who could otherwise just put it into their suit pocket? But none of them will do it, just because Apple did away with it for no reason whatsoever. Darn Lemmings.
For any person to suggest the 12th gen x1 carbon or x1 2-in-1 gen 9, I will just dislike immediately. It was just a trash regarding the heat and fan noise control with the intel core ultra 7 155H.
tbh its not bad laptop but price is really bad because for this price u can get macbook pro and it will have better battery life and better performance

Beautiful device, shitty CPU. Gets hot, low power, limited battery life. Why didn't they at least offer the H series as the X1 carbon? I owned several X1 Carbon and I was planning on getting the 2024 carbon or 2in1 but I just preordered the Yoga Slim 7x with X Elite CPU. Bye bye Intel.

What do you guys think of the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 2-in-1?
I love mine! Been using Lenovo ThinkPads for many years
I would rather purchase yoga 9i with all the rings and bells
u said screen flips 180° but u showed 360°😮
Wayyy too expensive at $1700, you can get a much better experience by getting both a tablet and a laptop at that price.

Great to know! So happy you guys are in more products now. I hate regular touchpads and think they should all be haptic at this point.

Can't wait to buy this 5 years from now to replace my current ThinkPad
I've used employer-supplied Lenovos in the past, and the keyboards were always best in class.
Ya I love their keyboards!
Removing the garaged pen was a mistake. Also don't like the camera reverse notch, but understand that is a subjective thing.
much better than MacBook Notch IN display.

Mistake in video not 180° it's 360°
Thumbs down 👎 👎 👎 to Lenovo for removing the inside Chassis Garage Parking of pen.
100% agreed
I'm a Thinkpad user (x1 9th), love these machines but I know I don't need a flipping screen.
LOL ya its definitely not for everyone

Is This pen suitable for digital drawing?
Are there any designers or illustrators here who work on this laptop?
Excellent is this the one with x elite
why is the pen sticky, Mat? 😳
Ssssshhh
"if you're doing a little bit of photoshop it can handle it": 200$ laptops can do that why would anyone spend over 2000$ for that?
Anyone who thinks about getting a 2 in 1 should just get an iPad and a traditional laptop.
or just get a $700 2-in-1 instead of spending $700 on an ipad & $700 on a laptop
Is the battery swapable here?
I don’t get why this business laptops are so expensive, their specs are not even that good
I guess the businesses can afford to pay so why not milk 'em 😂
@@SOG989 good guess hahaha
Because of robust and quality design. Bussines hinges' worth as consumer 1/3 of laptop
You're actually paying for the keyboard which is better than pretty much every other laptop. For some people that's worth the extra few hundred.
They are also reliable and built like bomb shelters. You get more years out of a ThinkPad than any other laptop brand so there's the value difference

So there is no more X1 yoga for this generation and they now named that to X1 2 in 1?

1) Not everyone wants to use Mac OS
2) Windows is better suited for lots of businesses because of Microsoft AD/Intune/Azure integration
Num pads are a requirement, kid. That's not an issue. You don't do business work and your reviews show it.
Depends on the business my dude. I work in IT and numpads just aren’t a requirement.
